Rep. Gene Taylor (D-Miss.) has called Grover Norquist’s anti-tax group Americans for Tax Reform “lying sacks of scum” for lumping him in with other moderate Democrats who support the House health reform bill.
“Americans for Tax Reform are lying sacks of scum, and anyone who knowingly repeats this false information is also a liar,” Taylor said in an unusually blistering statement for a member of Congress.
So there you have it. The only way a conservative can raise a Blue Dog’s hackles is to… accuse him of mildly progressive tendencies.
Now we must figure out how to make this valuable new intelligence work in our favor.

OT: Potter back on Moyers’ about health care….his part is a repeat. A new setup.
If the blue dogs act like right-wing conservatives then they deserved to be called such.
When you vote with and form policy like a republican don’t be so surprised to hear folks call it as they see it.
Was Taylor insulting or praising Americans for Tax Reform when he called them “lying sacks of scum?” Things are so confusing in the Bizarro Capitol’s Futility Beltway.
Go Girl!
I suppose he *could* have meant it admiringly…
What did Rahm promise him?
“When did you
stop beating your wifestart pandering the the real lying sacks of scum, Congressman? What’s that? You were born that way?”And thanks for the John, Eli. I had somehow forgotten about Rise.
Hey, Lady. As much as I enjoy Moyers, I think I’m Health Cared out for the week.
Anger is an energy.
In that case, have some cake.
Geez, I thought everyone had been abducted by aliens.
What kind? (Like that matters. :)
Not surprising…but I thought Washington Week was very good…part of the topic was how quickly after the inauguration, everything returned to rancor. Even those going against the Hispanic interests to vote against Sotom. All ugly..
Other than all that…how are you? Im still adoring my new roommate…not completely easy to live with ;))
Maybe we have. How do you know this isn’t happening in the Mothership?
There is rather a lot of probing analysis here by, uh, other people.
I’m pretty good. Considering my financial crisis.
Pet the new room mate for me. I’m reading one of the James Herriot novels right now. Gotta have some feel good.
Ouch!
Is the financial crisis new? I don’t seem to know….is something going on with your job? Uggh.
Hi, Eli. There is no way Grover – who is so upper crust – is going to apologize to a nobody congressman from Ms.
And Taylor is an idiot – guess he just got scared that someone in his state might actually think he had done something good for people.
Given Lydon’s history of anger and his turning it into energy, should be: anger = energy
For the rest of us, the process has a long way to go.
The job pays very little. Just a thing that crept up on us. My husband hasn’t been putting in overtime lately and we’re behind on the but you must pay the rent, but I can’t pay the rent…We own the house but pay rent for the land. I know. We’re dumb. But, that’s how it is. Got below in the account and got hit with a bunch of charges. I spent 2 hours at the bank, waiting to speak with the manager. We’ll live. I applied for two jobs this afternoon. Need more moolah.
Thank you for asking.
Why would I want Grover to apologize to Taylor?
Gene Taylor vs. Grover Norquist…damn, it’s hard to choose sides in this fight. How about mutual assured destruction?
Didn’t mean YOU did – I imagine that Taylor does though. How dare you call me a librul sort of thing.
Moyers enlarging his topic into the lobby power/$$, esp. Pharma and what it looks like they will get.
Just put them in a bathtub with only one rubber ducky.
I was kind of hoping Gene would challenge Grover to a duel. Some things are just beyond the pale.
Yuk, Demi. Wish I could buy you a ginger drink…there was some discussion here last night about the ridiculous bank fees. Soo crazy. Did you get to talk to the manager? Angela hugs you back. Her face & smile will really make you feel better.
I did speak with the manager. Finally. I explained my situation. I used the So we made a mistake argument. I pointed out how so many banks made mistakes too and they were bailed out and asked her to share the mercy. She reversed enough (ridiculously high) overdraft charges to the point where the account is at zero. No pay checks until next week. She made me promise not to use my debit card. Then, I remembered tomorrow is the first and my gym will do a $44 automatic debit. I borrowed $50 out of my son’s wallet to put in the account. He’s at camp. He’ll be cool about it. I’m pretty sure. I did an inventory of the freezer and I think I can feed us for a week. We’ll use the company amex card for car gas. I could be depressed, but I know that won’t help.
Good. It’s crazy how the prices keep creeping up. I see it first hand and still find it absolutely disgusting. Big Pharma isn’t on the receiving end of the brunt of the patients’ anger.
I am sadly used to seeing it, but i do my best otherwise to help them out. We have a few options that we can use, but not many.
I think we should spin this into a revival of “Celebrity Death Match.”
Maybe he could be convinced to take up parachuting

You needed to follow the link.
Shit Girl. That and a ginger drink from Bev will put me in heaven.
Thank ye.
Nah, won’t help. At least the manager was some help. No fun, I know.
(Amazing…20-20 on the money topic. It’s not something I have seen before.) What are the jobs? Good luck.
Better try a slice of this one while you’re at it.
I just noticed the company is in New Zealand. Probably shouldn’t order carry-out.
One is another part time gig that I could do in addition to the bookstore, 10 – 15 hours as a Girl Friday. I shit you not. Who calls an assistant That anymore?
The other is a full time admin job downtown. Really, the only reason I responded to that one was to point out that the ad reads…”Aministrative Assistant (Los Angeles)”. I pasted my resume, said I’m professional, blah, blah and that I can spell correctly. Just felt like being snarky.
Oh, my goodness. I could gain 10 pounds just looking at that.
evenin’ all.
Rachel is on Maher.
That’s funny…and edit, I guess. Take good care. We’re turning in….I have an early Dr. appointment..I know, just more fun. I think I will reward myself with a big ol’ ginger drink. Cheers, Demi. I admire your courage. BL

I’m going to pray for a few POLS I can believe in. Nothing like taking advantage of folks whose homes have been destroyed…Nice.
Eli !
Who the heck told Dana Milbank & Chris Cilizzard they were humorous ?
Hey Petro
Mirror, mirror, on the wall…
Sure as hell wasn’t me. Dana had one moment when he showed up on Countdown in bright orange after Cheney shot that guy in the face, and Cilizza has always been a tool.
Motivational photo for Angela

Demi, I hope you find a good job and things turn around for you. I sure have been there, and it’s so hard.
Scared the pants off me. No wait, they were like that when I got here…
this is the one I’d go for.
Sorry to hear you are in such a tight spot demi. Wish I could wish it away for you.

I remember that well. The orange kinda has a way of sticking in your brain.
“tool” is way to polite.

Key Lime.
Sorry to hear of your straits. As if things aren’t bad enough.
Hey Demi how long till you have some dinero coming in.
End of next week. Puts another perspective on everything. We’ll make it.
Thanks everyone.
Well, logic and the strategy of divide and conquer dictates that progressives plant seeds of doubt about each Blue Dog amongst right-wing groups such as Norquist’s Americans for Tax Deadbeats. It would have to be a relentless effort whereby progressives hold events abhorrent to the right (i.e. on single payer, birth control legislation, fighting global climate change, helping the poor, etc.) perhaps inviting a Blue Dog to speak at each event.
Some fliers might find their way to strategic locations where right-wingers and corporate lobbyists lurk. The fliers would be truthful and merely mention that the Blue Dog in question has been invited, which could be done. Doesn’t necessarily mean the Blue Dog will show up. If/when a Blue Dog thinks he/she is being clever and does show up, s/he should receive some type of progressive honor or plaque, perhaps a Progress award, making a lovely photo-op to push the progressive meme even further and onto some blogs.
At the very least, progressives who live in Blue Dog states and districts could try to get some face time and ask a few strategic questions of their Blue Dog and then blog it out. Are there some state fairs going on in August where the Blue Dogs come out of hiding?
What are some questions to ask a Blue Dog?
* Do you agree that having a publicly-funded health insurance plan will be too expensive? If so, are you willing to forgo yours?
* How many meetings have you had with health insurance lobbyists this year?
* Who is more important to you, your constituents or the lobbyists who’ve paid millions of dollars to fund your campaigns?
* Give me an example of how you’ve pushed back against health insurance lobbyists and looked out for the needs of your citizens with no health insurance.
Basically, it’s all about stirring up the pot. Something to counteract what the corporate lobbyists and right-wingers do every day.
