The great thing about the “health care industry” is that it utilizes the concept of interchangeable parts that Thomas Jefferson brought back from France. That way you get higher efficiencies out of your indentured workers for the same pay and increase your profit margin many-fold. Thank goodness for the Edison light bulb so we could benefit even more by shift work. God, I miss the screaming.

Those Blue Dogs must have the House barber shave their fat faces because I don’t see how they could look themselves in the mirror to do it.

Thanks so much for posting the heartwrenching “60 Minutes” video.

I caught the story of Stan Brock and his RAM organization on a 60 minutes piece that was done about two years ago. It was heart breaking having to see Americans without health care seek help and having to take numbers while standing in line for hours or camping out over night to be first in line. The lucky ones got in, while others had to be turned away.
His group draws from physicians with a moral perspective in helping their fellow man and Brock himself takes no salary. His group has helped thousands over the years with problems ranging from cancer to dental work and glasses. If ever there were a candidate for the Nobel prize it’s Stan Brock and I hope that those who look further into this amazing man will help him continue his work by sending a contribution his way.

What a mess. Progressive and populous states fund regressive and sparsely populated states whose senators thwart the will of the majority while legally on the take, and yet those are the same ones who have tea parties. Perhaps the only way forward is states rights…enable states to implement their own public or single payer programs with their share of a federal healthcare pie. Then the voters in the regressive states can see what their politics actually cost them.

Jane,

If you are reading…And I know you do not need any advice. Your team, whipping the public plan vote, is doing such incredible work.

In addition to all the personal narratives, three voices I would focus on to carry the robust public plan focus would be Chris Link, Wendell Potter and Stan Brock.

Has Stan Brock given testimony before Congress?

If not, then the President should host a tea with required attendance of every elected member of Congress to watch this piece and have Stan speak. Elected members, no staff substitutes.

My in-laws were among the working uninsured and attended one of Stan’s RAMP. My inlaws owned their own business and my father-in-law worked as an optometrist. Despite their hard work and frugal life, they never had enough money to cover their deductible.

Additionally, a former neighbor owns his own business and cannot afford any independent business medical insurance. He can afford, at times, to pay cash for treatment but finds it almost impossible to find doctors willing to take cash payments. This lack of health insurance added to their family stress and became a stress in their marriage. They are now probably going to get a divorce. I think having access to affordable health care would have saved their marriage and protected their kids from all the stress and heartache.

We live in a very divided country.
Selfish Greedy Bastards vs Charitable Saints.

The country will collapse under the weight of it’s own corruption and hypocrisy before campaign finance reform is a reality. Hoping the upper midwest becomes a part of Canada.
