I can just see Stark doing his thing on video asking Lou, hey, why not take the free flight over to the beautiful Hawaii to do a little fact checking.

Yes – how about we get ClearChannel to use some of their billboards that they own all over the place to host giant printouts of the president’s birth certificate with giant words stamped across the top saying, “It’s real! Get Over It!

It is one thing when people really believe, with good reason, that something is amiss in the records. It’s another thing entirely when people actively lie, as Blunt has done, for political gain.

My mom was born in San Francisco, and her records were lost (not in the earthquake). A lot of people can’t produce their birth certificates.

I welcome the birther controversy since it reveals how many nutcase unhinged people are in congress and the media.

I am told I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, at Queen’s Hospital. I have a birth certificate issued by the Territory of Hawaii. It’s a white-on-black photocopy with a raised seal, etc.

It says at the top, Certificate of Live Birth. Guess what? There is another certificate issued for still births: it saves a step in the documentation process because it acts as a combination birth/death certificate.

By the way, flying Lou Dobbs over to Honolulu would be a waste of time in two ways. First, Lou wouldn’t believe it anyway. Second, even if he went over there, he would not be allowed to see the records. Hawaii law limits access to vital records (birth, death, marriage and divorce) to persons with a legitimate interest in the matter. Lou doesn’t have a legitimate interest and cannot be allowed access to the records.

No one other than researchers has access to the detailed record, that’s true in every State that I know about.

The inevitable result of one political party working hard to create a political force out of the most ignorant, uneducated, and tribalist americans. It won’t be over any time soon.

At this point, I think that the original copy of Obama’s birth certificate should be put on permanent display at the Smithsonian so that all Americans can bask in the patriotic aura of this historically significant document.

Let’s make this into a real transparency moment

Everyone in public office and the media produce their ORIGINAL documents for verifications:

birth certificate
high school diploma
college degrees
driver’s license(s) w/ violation records
police and arrest records
marriage license(s)
divorce papers
military records
professional licenses
passport

let’s have it all out and see the papers.

They need to make one of those huge blow ups and put it on an easel in both houses and discuss the matter and take a roll call vote on it.

Birther’s argument is (apparently) that the law on birth certificates at the time of Obama’s alleged birth, allowed a person to simply CLAIM that their kid was born in Hawaii and that a certificate would be issued based on that claim- so you see- the certificate is irrelevant.

It would be funny if it weren’t so tragically stupid how many of these nutsos try to make out that “Certificate of Live Birth” means something other than “Birth Certificate.” Unbelievable.

And, of course, I’ve had to produce certified copies of my WVa birth certificate for a number of official occasions. That’s what you get; a certified copy. No records official is going to send out the original.
And I haven’t heard anyone address the horseshit about not being from the hospital with doctor’s name, time of birth, etc. As a matter of fact, that’s not the official birth certificate; that’s the evidence used by the state vital stats bureau (whatever it may be called) to create the official original birth certificate, which is then filed in the official records. Jesus H. Christ on a f’g crutch – as my creatively profane ex used to say.

edit: In fact, I’ve had to get certified copies of lots of official documents for various legal cases. You NEVER get the original because the officials are obliged by law to keep orginals. Among other reasons, if it went out, it wouldn’t be there the NEXT time a certified copy was needed. Sheesh.

As if there is anyone in the whole world who has the originals of all of these documents. It would certainly cut down on the number of people in the media and also government.

You know what? I was there in the delivery room in Hawaii, taking video footage of that little boy being born in Hawaii, which at the time was already an official state of these United States, born in Hawaii from a woman who is a citizen of these United States and while she was going through labor kindly produced her documentation of citizenship while giving birth to said Future President Boy of these United States and after I checked her citizenship with my own eyes, and took the video footage, and witnessed all this, I asked where in hell the birth certificate was!

Birth Baggers Unite!

God I hope my daughter never runs for President. She was born in a hot tub twenty one years ago today, with just the midwife and us, high on a mountain overlooking the ocean. A lovely spot for a wonderful birth. BUT we didn’t get around to registering her birth with the County until a few weeks later. I remember the clerk rolling her eyes at us…probably muttering damned hippies!

HA….similar situation here….my 19 year old daughter was born in a 150 year old log house way up a holler in West Virginia….it was some time before we registered her with the “real world”…..however, I kinda hope she DOES run for President so she can be the last US President born in a log house….plus she’s even more radical then me….if that’s possible

I spoke with a coworker the other day about the whole “birther” issue as I know he was a strong Ron Paul supporter…..not only does he believe President Obama is NOT an American citizen, but there is NOTHING that would convince him otherwise….says he’s privy to some information that the rest of us don’t know apparently.
These people are true nut-jobs and I hope they keep it up and further divide the Republican movement….I know I plan on attending any town hall or public event that our sole Rep. Congresswoman holds on recess and if no one else asks her if SHE believes Obama is an American by birth I sure will….just to fan the flames.
