Well, it appears that after months and months of negotiating health care reform away from the prying eyes of, well, everyone, Max Baucus is on the verge of presenting a bucket of warm spit and calling it bipartisan.
If you listen closely you can hear him counting that health care lobby money.
So thanks Max, thanks ever so much, for absolutely nothing. You’re like the bizarro Dos Equis guy.
His reputation is diminishing faster than Sarah Palin’s
He had several awkward tweets with Chuck Grassley, just to make a deal
He lives precariously with David Broder’s conscience
He is, the least interesting man in the world

Deal implies good this is a sixteen year old girl after drinking 8 shots alone with a bunch of drunk guys.
bipartisan.
He does know the GOP calls that date rape right? He does know the GOP is calling him Easy?
Obama is going to Veto this right? He said he would this should be dead on arrival. Now if he does not Veto it its news. Of course Obama’s first Veto is news too just how many veto’s did go along to get along Bush give? Talk about Easy the Decider I think was the Softest Touch of any President ever.
I have no problem with Obama playing games and vetoing it at the last minute that would make news and hopefully get voters interested in the issue and angry.

The Alaska Bloggers might want to weigh in on who is the bigger train wreck Sarah is certainly more famous but give it time.
I don’t always take slush money.
But when I do, I prefer health sector.
Stay greedy, my friends.
Taking money from the healthcare industry is BushSchadenfreude the making of money off of the suffering of others and enjoying it.

I assume Max Baucus knows he is going to Hell! for this Hell I say Hell! can I get an AMEN!
We do need Fundi Lefty Preachers on TV:)
This is worse than nothing. The answer is no.
I think that it is fair to say that if BO does not veto an insurance reform bill that does not include a public option he can kiss his ass goodbye when it comes to reelection.
Good morning, folks. Bob Herbert is off today, alas, so it’s solo Bobo. Bobo has been reading blogs. Bobo has been pondering great questions. Bobo has produced “The Power of Posterity,” in which he opines that without a next generation, there would be no grand designs or high ambitions. Even words like justice would lose meaning because everything would get reduced to the narrow qualities of the here and now. Bobo should not read any blog that coos approvingly about Megan McArdle.
Here he is.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got Thomas’ English muffins with your favorite jam. We had a lollapalooza of a storm last night, and lost power 3 times. Even after the power was back on the intertoobz were out for a while. Talk about withdrawal pains…! Have a great day.
Guess my Blue Dog Rep Mike Michaud from ME is happy. While his state goes into hock for their health care , Dirigo , which funds low income and sliding scale for middle income.
Where can WE get a list of campaign donations that are current?
Yea, and then we’ll get a real progressive, my dyin ass.
Fuck this. I’ve only emailed Shumer and Gilibrand once about Healthcare. I feel I’ve been lax. Maybe others like me felt their Senators were on our side so once was enough. Hope this news prompts an overwhelming reaction.
One-payer (not a crappy public option) is the key to fixing our economy. Without it, nothing else will save us.
Here’s what the NYT has to say about what’s going on. A key graf:
Reform? Dead as a mackerel.
No, regretfully we will get someone not to our liking at all and we will be in even deeper shit but if he caves in to the insurance companies all the grass roots organizing his troops can muster will not get past the sell out. That said I would guess that he will veto any bill that does not have a public option.
And to think I sent him money! Grrrr.
Lefty Preachers pushed to free the slaves, they fought for civil rights, they protest the School for the Americas, they get killed by the CIA in South America standing up for the poor. Men and Women they preach what the church and the rich do not want to hear.
Its why the last Pope banned Liberation Theology ( I suspect he was the devil’s agent)
Absolutely. However the chances of that happening in the land of greed is zero.
Nr. Baucus would have fit in well with the large landowners who reqired slaves, to support the aristicratic live’s in an agrarian society.
Max protects the insurance corporations in healthcare who steal from AMericans and our repblic, just as Jefferson warned. I’m sure Max’s lack of logic in healthcare is a similar dysfunctionalism as was Justice Yanay’s suspension of logic and reason in DRed Scott! Remember George Wallace Mr Baucus and what happenend to him as he used racism and state’s right’s to perpetuate the dysfunction of segregation.
Poll taxes healthcare taxes and the extraction of liberty from the AMerican people to protect corporations? Max wa;k off a plank with the rest of the corporate beholding, American eviscerators known as
“Asselelphants!”
Jefferson feared constitutional usurpation by corporate aristocrats in the lust fore endless profit, the enemy from within! Was Jefferson talking about you MAX…………………………..
sorry folks lost my eye glasses yesterday!
I think time is on our side on this issue. The Congress is going home for break we know that more people will lose their jobs and healthcare so I’m sure the Senators and Congressmen will hear about it.
I’m afraid the GOP will push through a compromise before the break.
Edited, with apologies.
Well, I just wrote to my 2 senators. The first time was a polite request. This time an angry tirade. I’ll write them 3 times a day from here on. This stinks.
No worries:) I do it all the time:)
Share the triad!
I still don’t get why everyone is so surprised by this. Wasn’t it always the expectation that the SFC was going to send out a weak bill, and it would have to get reconciliated with the other versions? Didn’t Jane diary about this something like a week ago?
We no longer have a congress but rather a splendid set of buildings functioning as the most expensive whore house this country has ever seen.
We get to watch the whores turn tricks in their fancy conference rooms without mussing a hair of their blow dried heads.
And after the trickery we get to see the cost in the form of campaign contributions to the whores. The biggest contributions go to the best contortionist.
And call them in the morning.
What I said was that coruption is the reason we can’t get what every other advanced nation has provided for it’s citizens. And that history will note the leaders who had the chance to save America and chose the corps over it’s citizens.
Gotta go. This is a sad, sad day.
Asshole.
Haven’t been around lately and thought I’d have lots to say. But after the long absence that’s all I have to say about the subject of this post.
When the parasites go on vacation it will be time to make their lives an utter misery. Sit ins, demonstrations, picket their houses, their vacation homes, restaurants when they go out, remove bank accounts if you bank at the same place as them, accost them whenever you see them, make their life and their staff’s lives absolute hell.
Fuck this, indeed.
Throwing a bone to the racists in their districts…
Thought the fix was in when I heard Baucus was in charge.
C’mon now. Liberals have been rallying recently, putting aside differences, and going after it on healthcare…together. We’ve been building momentum as a whole.
We must keep it going, and big part of that is staying motivated. You don’t think Obama planned for these Senators to try to scuttle any real refrom? Of course he did, and there’s nothing surprising about this report. BigMedia purposely plays up the “divided Democrats” stories specifically to demoralize Liberals, which then means less action. This trick has been working for decades now.
We CANNOT let them do it this time, so buck up, campers! It’s crunchtime.
Health care for all? I don’t think so
Right. Everyone will be filling up their shopping carts to cash in on the bonanza.
I’m shocked there are Democrats bucking other Democrats along the way!
Deja vu.
Rudy – every other word: 9/11.
Congress – every other word: abortion.
Thousands of women are going to rush out and get preggers just so they can have an abortion….
OT Kay how do you register to comment at your site? I am finn…at….campaignfree.org Thanks.
Be sure you don’t get left out!
Are you kidding??? He’ll sign a piece of shit and then hail it as a great victory for the American public. I’m done with the Dems. I’ll be joining the Green Party.
A big AMEN to everything you said! We the people can influence legislation and get a package with the public option as a start.
You will probably be disappointed. I tried to volunteer for the greens in the last election and heard not a word after repeated emails and phone calls. A very disorganized bunch I am afraid. Stick with the Dems and enjoy the infighting.
If there is no public option at the least and this dog is signed by Obama then anyone with an ounce of integrity that sticks with the Dems is nothing more than a masochist.
nomolos is right: For the heck of it I just checked the Green Party Web Site – It still shows the 2004 platform.
Here’s the link:
http://www.gp.org/platform.shtml
It’s looking like the Republicans are on the road of defeating real healthcare reform and they did it with allies in the Democratic Party.
Only if the SFC recommendation becomes part of the final bill. We’re only at the fifty-yard line – there’s still a lot of distance to cover before the final bill is voted on. Keep up the pressure on the undecideds.
I don’t think you have to register, Nomolos. You’re the 2nd person to ask me that in the last month, so if for some reason you have to, you would have to create a Wordpress acct (without creating a blog!) to do so I guess. Isn’t there a spot to put in your name and email address when you click on the comments? There should be. If so, that is the easiest way to leave a comment. Sorry for the trouble!
California here we come!
I already changed my registration from Democratic to Independent when Congress refused to help out homeowners in danger of foreclosure after giving away so many trillions to the banks.
If that had not been the final straw… then this would be or have been.
