Looks like it is just you and me Suz… BTW great tune
Somehow, I can’t shake the image of C-Street politicians religiously wiping up the toilet seat after each use.
I never wished to know this bit of information, but I read it in one of Jeff Sharlett’s interviews.
BOO!
Did y’all miss me?
Evenin’ Suz
Whooo-eee, it’s hot here, esp. for Seattle. Bleah!
FunnyWheelieDiva
thanks nahant – i forget who the pup was that laid it on the late late nite threads a while ago. great forking interplay between the guitar man and the bass player. hard to believe that there are only 3 in that band creating all that sound.

Can you believe this song is now 40 years old?
(I was born in 1969, just prior to the Moon Landing and Woodstock)
hey ce – that is forking eye candy! wow
Urban cool — works for me here. And the weather here in Cleveland this summer has been so wonderful, so cool, so sunny (this is RARE here).
One Oh Seven here today and tomorrow.
Nice pick Suzanne, brings back memories of me dancing with my hottie teacher I was teased unmercifully. I got in trouble over her several times back in 71.
At a Catholic school, once while I was an Altar boy, dancing to Grand Funk Railroad, a couple of times I got my ass beat for telling her how sexy she was.
I was in the Fourth Grade.
Some things are destined I guess.
LMAO!
i was a sophomore in high school when this video was filmed beguiner.
Awwwwww! You’s justa youngstah!

Funny
Night, busted
love satisfaction ce – dang, they were so forking young there
Nice! am a bit older in 69 and I was just getting out of the Army on Aug 2nd… Think I was just getting on a plane in the morning to go back to the REAL WORLD after two years in Germany……
funny – i kept wetting my ankles with cool water on the drive up – that seemed to really help cool me off – more so than the pouring water on my head or on my shirt did.
in 69 you were headed home so ya could head to woodstock :)
YUP!! Although I didn’t know it till I got to Nahant and my cousin Jacky said Foxy had a spare ticket for the whole concert for $18.00… Sure wish I had some how managed to hold onto it all these years later!!
Nite all– work tomorrow.

Hi Suz. How’s your daughter doing?

g’nite ce
hey emerson – she went back to the doc and is doing better. thanks for asking. how ya doing?
Hey emerson how ya doing??
Is it okay to say I fucking can’t stand GFR.?. Or would that be “over the edge”.? /s/. Not that they didn’t have a couple of classic songs.
emerson – that jam is forking fantastic – didja say it was fig?
hey openhope – you sweltering in this heat too?
Went to see Richard Wolffe talk today in Corte Madera. It was packed! He says Obama will always be a compromiser, but says he is 3 moves ahead of everyone else. Hope he’s right.
Hey nahant! got the e-mails and pix-thanks!
great!! Wish there were more but I was too busy schmoozing with all the Pups!
re: Babe. If you couldn’t guess, I’m reading 13 and again kinda wondering if you have. ’twas 11 I sent in h/b – you sent 12.
(13 – missing ex husband/lawyer, Burg filled w/pot smoke, she goes on RangeMan staff. Lotsa cruising in the Porsche after her crown vic bites the dust. Sound familiar?)
Dayam, you’re a better man than I am, gunga Emerson!
I had to turn that twit off when he guest-hosted for Keef. Dr/Gov Howard Dean didn’t show a lot of personality, but he was a much better guest host. He’s up tomorrow night, too.
FWDiva
I know, isn’t it tasty? Of course I forget to hand it out to the pups as they were leaving (open hand slapping forehead!). But nahant’sr friends should make good use of it.
plum driving the porsche? did ranger know? i’m trying to remember….
Probably it was having idiot young male neighbors blasting GFR and Black Sabbath at all hours. And then a bad “accidentally dosed” acid trip at a concert with both bands. I hated that time when dosing people with acid without warning was considered fun.
Don’t miss acid. Do love Ryan Grim’s ” This is your country on drugs”.
I have given all away but three of them… Haven’t sampled it yet but will!
Wait, wait, you’re talking books?!
Bring me up to speed, please!
FWDiva
ya gotta try it nahant – ya may change your mind about the rest of the jars….
that’ll do it for sure openhope. lotsa other good tunes (and bands) in the links in the comments tonight.
Agree FWD- he’s much better taking questions than asking them. He was selling his book, so had a lot of anecdotes. He’s a big fan of Michelle Obama. I’d like to see her speak out a little more too.
Oh yes Just took the dogs out for a quickie cold water spray down. They are SO happy.
Turned the hose upward and got myself. I feel fresh!!
yikes.. how hot did it get for ya today?
chicago sees coldest july since 1942
I’ll bring more if I can make it in October. Sis will be canning in about 10 days. She also makes peach jam, but after nahant’s pie, no way I’m bringing anything with peaches! g*
I wish I could link. I’m hungry for new music again. Seems to go in spurts.
I heard James Morrison on the Ellen Degenares show by accident the other day. Now I’m going to have to check him out. ” Songs for her…”. Great energy.
Guess I’m a sucker for that pure energy in music. Don’t really care what the genre is.
that was the best dayam peach pie ever.
hey nahant – you gonna share that recipe?
I will!
Oh and that single malt had to be put away… leaving it on the counter was the wrong thing to do on Sunday (:>)) if ya know what I mean emerson…
if it touches something inside me, i like it – no matter the genre. music is one of my first memories.
Was really easy most sugar flour and lots of butter 1+1/2 sticks… of course the
Peaches we bought had the most to do with it… They are great peaches… still have two to eat after I get through all the other goodies that were left..
Yeah, Ranger gave her the Porsche to drive. I’m thinking you’d remember that
(and the crown vic).
[I’ll send what I’ve got this week, including yours, so you can sort it out. Fortunately, all my pbs have local used bookstore stamps, which may help distinguish. Have a couple of out-of- series ones you may not have seen]
Investigating training in medical tommorrow at the local JC program. School and learning are fun…brain food. Maybe a job elevating my humble income capacity too. Exploring searching for answers. Nasim Taleb is a philosifer explaining the the “Black Swan” concept he created. A product of a well stationed familiy in the Lebanon war he lived through that insanity by reading in the basement while the bombs exploded in Beirut city above.
He explains the condensation of power`by “scalability” where assests are consentrated in the hands of a very few leaving most out. Walmart is an example of capturing the market by destroying the competition through underpricing until they go under. The “vertical trust” (monopolies)of the early 20th century like Standard Oil or the hostile takeover and consolidations of industry sectors in the hands of Fortune 500 corporations, create a political oligarchy that rules American and other governments. It is a period of history not written in the history books. The explaination of oppression and understanding the tools of the trade is intrinsically important to understanding keeping the democratic form of government as envisioned by the Founders to whatever extent possible.
It’s a matter of circumstances, this How Hot Was It question. When you’re traveling to the doctor with seriously old dingy people, shopping, hitting the farm market in 85-90 degrees drenched in gasoline from an unfortunate pump malfunction…….it seems a lot hotter.
Freaking weird day. But the basil is loving it and I’m a slave to summer basil.
that is not a recipe dood.
LMAO-There’s always more where that came from, nahant! I did see Tucker eying it, though…
hey bb – how’s the wrist?
Wait, wait!
Still wanna get in on your book club!
FWDiva
kewl – looking forward to it. i’ll send ya 14 which i just finished.
*wicked evil laugh*

All good pie crusts have “lots of butter” in my book.
If you have a good Peach pie recipe I’ll trade you for a killer chocolate cake recipe. Quick cake, too.

Ah.
Nope hadn’t tried those yet.
Loves me da mysteries, though!
FWDiva
Hey Suz how many times I gotta tell ya thats how I cook?? Everything is there just not measured closely!! OK so try two table spoons of da flour and a cup a sugar da 1 + 1/2 sticks of melted butter What is wrong with that… ya need to know to peel and cut the peaches or is that a given??
Whoah,
This song is definitely not network material!
OK, the blond guy reminds me of the gal from Peter Paul and Mary…
FWDiva
they are mysteries. and dayam funny. ya gotta read them in order – not many books get me actually laughing out loud while quietly reading.
how many peaches? any spices?
Secret vice *g*. Janet Evanovich’s current Stephanie Plum series – numbers are featured in the titles.
Plum is a smart-assed bail bond recovery agent. LOL/Screwball stuff.
Evening everyone
But but he can’t get up on the counter….
so now it is in the garage on the top of the fridge… outa sight outta mind and temptation… Just like the Grand Mariner and the Frangelico…

hey ppd – how ya doing?
Not ignoring you *g*. Dial-up challenged.

Just did 125 wrist curls followed wit 150 arm curls. Light weights high reps to build circulatory anastomoses (cappililary expansion)as a foundation to strength training. I burred the caste of a few days ago with a metal grinder for more range of motion scratches healing fast.
I use a running arm swing for my arm curls to enhance the 4.2 mile run I plan on the bluff trail in Montana de Oro state Park. Trying to increase from a slow jog to a run. I want to kick some ass a take some numbers of these incompassionate assholes that are holding us down. Some local septic pumpers were across the street yesterday and suspect they put the garbage can against the new car I got (used)causing some body damage. Part of the they don’t like my peace sign or my battle against the planned $300.00 a month sewer. Chicken shits.
As a Jersey boy, that part is true.
glad to hear you are recovering well bb – and that totally sux about the pumpers.
Just found that out Saturday!
Well, thanks — how’s everything up north?
Glad to hear you’re home safe and sound
Funeral home visitations (known or unknown deceased) is the major social event. Big hair and hooker clothes rule!
all the plants survived and are on the deck – well watered and recovering from the trip.
where the neighborhood telephone tree is fast about letting her mom know about the latest ‘accident’ – and other moms don’t have to worry about their daughter blowing up the funeral home.
Gum-chewing, too?
FWDiva
I have a confession. I went to dinner tonight to add oompany to a good friend’s dinner with her visiting father [ New York homicide detective] and his new wife. Straight out of the talking points conservative venue. With legitimate scared responses to our country’s future. All our discussions where framed knowing I was the liberal and they were the conservatives. But we actually agreed on a lot of issues. As long as Healthcare was framed in the same vein as Medicare and Soc.Sec. And you pretended it wasn’t a “GOVERNMENT” program. Just national business. You pay in, you take out. No illegals.Epidemic disease control they weren’t sure about with the illegals .How would that work. Babies needing to be born was another troubling issue. Who pays the bill?
Uhm…..in the end we introduced the new wife to pot. And we all bonded!!!!!
Colbert taking apart Orly Taits, Counsel to the Birthers!
Dayam, the byotch is clueless.
“we’re getting another Stalin…”
Jeebus on a pogo stick.
FWDiva
how long you cook that pie for nahant – and at what temp?
soon, they will be DFH’s (lmao) – folks have more in common then they think – we really are in this all together and must find that common ground.
OK cooled down for good sleeping weather, J and Anthony come home tomorrow they went to La La land to get the rest of the kids stuff… like his Ovation guitar, stereo and other stuff he couldn’t fit in his car when he came home… of course they had to go to Disney land also…. so it is just me and Tucker hanging out together…
Did you catch Shatner’s rendition of Palin’s Checker’s speech?
good Humboldt bud I hope!!
It was on Countdown tonight. God, it was funny as heck!
FWDiva
Arianna Huffington up on Colbert…it’s “chix with accents” Nite!
FWDiva
350 for about 30 min then 300 for about another twenty or so… of course I was also cooking and apple pie at the same time.
Suz, this peach pie recipe looks wonderful. (Too lazy to get my Joy of Cooking recipe.)
Just be careful of the amount of water in the crust. Looks like too much…6-7 T is the usual amount. Also, I wouldn’t put sugar in the crust. It could be sprinkled on top of the pie if the extra sugar is desired-only for the last 15 minutes though.
Course the secret is really good peaches…!
Cooler here, too. I thought the four of you would be playing bridge or hearts, and doing Glenfiddich shooters, nahant.
Why don’t I just come on up and make it for ya Suz (:>))
Du oh what else??
Now I’d say a little cinnamon, nahant.
hey loohoo – nahant made the best dayam peach pie for the meetup- no spices and so forking flavorful.
Like — Beam her anywhere but up, Scotty
don’t wanna wait until september dood
i put some of the pictures from the meetup up at my place – click on my name and scroll down to monday’s post

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ol6GxAYw2gM
Did Jane like her birthday pie picture, Suz?
Sounds like an all-around splendid evening!
A thing of beauty!
Oh well we do have to go back to Boston for two weddings leave on the 20th next month and get back the 1st of Sept… Will be also going up to Maine and then over to NH to see some friends who own the Gun Stock B&B… we sure are looking forward to it… been way too long since we were both back there.
yes – iirc there was a comment about it looking as if everyone was having a good time :)
Sorry I missed it. Peach pie is my favorite. Rhubarb is pretty darn good, though.
I think it’s spelled crechia. Translates to Easter bread. Usually only available to the locals in Gubbio, Italy, where my Italian side of the family still lives. It’s beautiful-part of Umbria.
i’m still tired and achy from the trip – gonna head off pups – all that dayam getting up early has thrown my whole sleep schedule off kitler.
g’nite pups and thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
night Suzanne
nite suz sleep well!1
It is after the pumpkin arrived so I guess I am outta here also..
Nite pups and don’t forget October BBQ!!
Thanks Suz. Nite!
Nite nahant
Margot, mebbe we should form a rotation. Once I’ve read them, I’m ready to say good bye to my copies. Any idea which ones you’ve read and which not?
Far as I can see, order doesn’t signify much – except to avoid the realization 50 pages in that you’ve already read the book.
time for sleep. G’nite pups.
Wednesday should be 102 degrees in Seattle I think global warming is kicking in I have never seen it get that hot in Seattle or Portland.
Nite pups
Found a recipe here – http://foodonthefood.typepad.c…..riday.html
Crescia
Nonni’s recipe for this Parmesan pepper bread makes five loaves. If this seems like a ridiculous amount of bread, then I’ve failed to express how much the people in my family love it. You can cut the recipe in half, or store the extra loaves in the freezer wrapped in foil inside an airtight freezer bag.
7 cups flour
6 cups grated Parmesan cheese
½ lb. fresh yeast*
1 Tbsp. black pepper
13 eggs
1 stick butter, melted
¾ cup oil
Preheat oven to 300°F. Grease 5 medium loaf pans.
In the largest bowl you can find (or a stockpot), mix together flour, cheese, and black pepper. With your fingers, crumble yeast as finely as you can and mix. In a large bowl, beat eggs with butter and oil. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the wet ingredients. Stir together until well mixed, but do not knead. Cover and let rise for 1 hour at room temperature. Divide dough into pans and bake for 45 minutes to an hour.
Okay, I was thinking of saving this recipe to sell at a fundraiser but I think magic needs to be spread around.
Recipe circa 1958
Black Magic Cake
1-3/4 cups all purpose flour
1-3/4 or 1-1/2 cups sugar [ I choose to use 1-1/2 sugar.]
3/4 cups Hershey’s cocoa [ I like to mix dark and light cocoa in equal proportions. Ignore brand name]
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt [I use Celtic sea salt][I’m such a snob!!!]
2 eggs
1 cup strong coffee
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk[1 tbl. vinegar plus 1 cup milk]
1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
Put it all together. Beat at medium speed for 3 minutes. This is a key factor to a quick cake. Don’t over beat. Beat by hand 300 strokes if you don’t have a mixer. Wiping down sides often.
Pour into a greased and lightly floured pan.Two 10 inch or one 9 by 13. I use cocoa, not flour.
Bake 30-35 minutes. I find 40 is actually more like it for a large cake.
Recipe can be doubled. Add cooking time.
Insert a knife into the center of the cake. If it pulls out clean it’s done.
This recipe has been with me my whole life. My mom kept all us teenagers coming into her kitchen in 1970 with this cake.
The frostings a whole nuther thing.Chocolate buttercream.
1 tsp. of Aran Islands salt, I think
Aran Islands salt….are you into salt, too?
It’s my new most fun cooking thing. Natural salt. No denatured. Actually, no denatured anything.
I was heartsick to learn the distilled white vinegar is a petroleum product and absolutely horrible for human consumption.
I need a new pickle recipe because the more I learn the less I trust. Yada yada yaa.
Just jokin’ actually. Aran Islands salt seemed a bit snobbier than Irish Sea salt. I have used Mediterranean Sea salt before, though. Many times, the less processing, the better with food.
I’ll bet you can make your own vinegar for pickling.
That was good — before they devolved to that cheesey “American Band” crap. In fact, the “Survival” album was the last of the good ones, I think.
So, like, with the Mediterranean salt..were you slumming it?
I’ve got the himalayan pink in my salt shaker.
Oh, but it’s so much fun! And healthier.
I order most of my spices in bulk from Penzeys – have you tried that source?
Salt from the roof of the world, eh?
No, our local Food Pavilion/Thrifty went pro-active to grab the cooking market. They put in an awesome spice department with people who know what you’re asking for. I can get $2 of Indian Black salt, all these spices that go into traditional foods that used to be almost impossible to get. Without going to the Big City.
I hope it works out because us cooks are having a ball.
Good night.
I hope my mind slows down the way this computer’s doing.
Now I’m thinking how much fun an FDL cookbook would be. These are the thoughts of a compulsive fundraiser!!!!
Sleep well,all.
I’m out — take care
