- Luckily, the Democrats control Congress.
- Thanks, Blue Dogs!
- What they want.
- How dare we make policy without Israel’s approval.
- Who’s less popular? Ahnold vs. Mitch.
- The Quitter, still against apologizing.
- It’s just too easy.

About Firedoglake
Good Morning…Warning: Coulter to be on CBS. We never know why ;))
Mornin’, BT, RevBev
Fuck Ehud Barak and the rest of the Israeli government.
Simple, as the Decider once said, “You’ve got to push the propaganda”
Who remembers the launching of MTV? I was hooked.
Israel has been dictating U.S. foreign policy since 1969 when Nixon brought Kissinger into the White House.
Four comments only so far on the Swampland piece, all of them critical of the Blue Dogs and/or the media.
What little is known of what appears to be a rancid piece of sausage that is being made in Congress masquarading as healthcare “reform”, perhaps it should be deep sixed. The only way to provide universal care and lower costs is to ditch the for profit model. I would refer anyone to Bill Moyers’ Friday broadcast.
SD: How is the patient? We are mighty happy here…this kid can play with anything. Particularly fond of pens and some of her personal toys. What happiness is!!
The downside is it’s still a year away from the 2010 election, when those defending the profit model could be exposed and targeted.
Nice warning there from your LAPD occifer (at Digby). Makes you feel warm adn fuzzy to be watched over by such a public spirited sort, salary compliments of us.
We’re beginning to show some steady weight gain. I had to get new 60ml syringes Fri so took in a copy of her weight chart (Excel is great for that kind of stuff). Doc was there and when I told him that she goes after her mouth with her paw while being tube fed he took off his glasses and just kinda rolled his eyes. The mouth pawing while she ate was what started this journey early this year. When it comes down to brass tacks I don’t think it looks good in the long run.
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.
Be good to yourselves and all other living things.
Namaste
Unfortunately, that seems more the rule than the exception. To me, the most striking aspect of the Gates incident is that the good professor did not understand that.
Yes, I think I can imagine the paw struggle. That will to do whatever they want is very persistent. Good luck.
Quiet morning….Since Big ol’ Rush is paid about $50Mil a year….let him show his humanitarian side. He could underwrite alot of health care coverage and re-make his very tart image.
Did you see that facebook removed the fan pages of former Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah of Hamas.
What evidence do you have that he has a humanitarian side?
Sad, but just the latest display of the censorship that is firmly in place to restrict anti-Israeli sentiment in all levels of discourse.
Thanks for the tip. I just deactivated my FB page. With an appropriate comment, of course.
Christy’s upstairs…
Per AP:
Anyone who can count realizes that the democrats have just enough votes to pass anything they want. That means that for every Democrat who breaks ranks we need to get a Republican to break ranks, or we’ll lose.
Now there are two possible responses to this situation. We can water down what we want to woo Republicans, or we can intimidate and punish Democrats who break ranks. Specifically, I suggest taking it to their electorates with both carrot and stick.
So far the strategy has been to appeal to their sense of civic responsibility. But now might be a good time to note that many of these Blue Dog’s states that are getting more than their share of returned revenue. Failure to get good healthcare might impair the nation’s sense of generosity toward those who blocked it.
Here are the data from the Tax Foundation: http://www.taxfoundation.org/f…..071009.pdf
The original data are much better aligned.
Here is a great interview that was in the Guardian this weekend regarding health care in the US. This is an interview with Wendell Potter, whistleblower on the health insurance industry.
I do not recall, have we had him here at FDL as a guest?
I’m not deactivating yet, but it certainly isn’t helping me keep it.
Dylan Ratigan’s Morning Meeting on MSNBC. Smartest morning show out there. Especially the just-concluded conversation on Goldman Sachs and their perversion of capitalism.
Have you read the articles regarding warnings about Terrorists recruiting through FB?
I found this interesting. The timing was surprising since Lebanon has been on a huge Israeli spy sweep since May. One of the biggest sweeps happened (40 spies arrested) on the same day as the arrests in NJ and NY of the politicians and rabbis.
BTW, the rabbis used the same type of “fundraisers” ( via Yeshiva school for example) that Jack Abrmoff used. Found it interesting that reports said the case was 10 years old. So much of the criminal practices were identical to Abramoff criminal practices.
I’m going to keep my eye out for that, thanks.
Here is another article on the Facebook claim.
The article mentions recruitment of Arab Israelis.
The arrests made here in the US last week involved Sephardic rabbis. (Arab decent/ Syrian-Jewish rabbis)
This all seems quite odd. Would be interested in Juan Cole and Colonel Lang’s take on all of this.
The US role is curious.
Totally agree with you that it’s the ’smartest morning show out there’. Since I don’t have teevee, I have to wait until the uploads come online for my Left Coast viewing.
And he’s had some interesting, articulate guests – including Elliott Spitzer who probably has no reason to hold back from being very frank about what went wrong.
(I do wish he’d take a deep breath and slow down some times, but it’s a great show and he seems really interested in helping people better understand what has happened with the underlying economic factors: laws, regulatory problems, bank attitudes, etc.)
Holy shit….
Using an epidemiology perspective, I wondered last week at EW’s whether there might be any connections between Abramoff and this event. Not to claim that there are, but the similar setups is mighty eye-brow raising, eh?
Mornin’ all. Just getting going in Californ eye ay.
Haven’t read all the comments here, but the comments at Jonathan Turley’s piece on Sarah Bailin’ compose a hilarious cavalcade of lamest songs ever. Muskrat Love and Bobby goldsboro’s “honey” are the frontrunners.
have a great day.
