Hi Elliot I got two diaries stuck on my page but not appearing in the Seminal? This is the link to one of them whats going on?
http://seminal.firedoglake.com/diary/6669
Good Morning Things,
I don’t know what the story is with the diaries. There seems to be a clog in the system. I’ve let the tech crew know. (You are an early bird!)
Thanks Elliott:) I hope this gets fixed soon I might have a third diary later today if the rumors of a coup in Venezuela can be confirmed. VHeadlines thinks there might be nothing on Google News, BBC, State Dept or WH web sites though.
I hope Hugo is alright could you imagine if the oil companies in our country used their cash to give us all Healthcare like Hugo made the National oil company in Venezuela do.
Funny how the GOP screams totalitarianism when you take from the rich and give to the poor.
However if you take from the poor and give to the rich they love you.
Good Morning. I wonder how much damage has been done to the Sunday shows since it’s been revealed that it’s not probing journalism, rather an opportunity for the pols to spew their lies unchallenged.
I hadn’t heard that (possible coup). Backed by U.S.?
Worked nights 7 days a week for three years I still have trouble sleeping sometimes.
I did a detailed critique of Bobby Jindal’s recovery ideas here. Not that I’m, uh, blog-whoring or anything, but, uh, oh of course I am!
Yes Darth, Bush 1 and McCain are the likely suspects Look at my many comments at the end of the last thread.
Will do. BTW, I went to CNN to see if there was anything there and while I was there I checked out their poll on decriminalizing pot. 65% approve.
I think people have always known and this confirms it ever since Bush took office newspaper reading is down.
All Media is go to google finance and look at the 10 year chart of any media company.
Cool is Arnold going to tax it he is broke his state needs all the money they can get.
Morning Ellie, all….
ABC’s This Week: Health Care: Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND) v. “Waterloo” Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC).
I’m rooting for the short guy.
Or something.
Coffee might be a good start…..
Not listening to either one of them might be another good start. *g*
…I went to CNN to see if there was anything there and while I was there I checked out their poll on decriminalizing pot. 65% approve.
Does that mean that 65% of Americans are communist, fascist, reefer-madness, gonna screw up your kids maniacs, or just that CNN can never again be referred to as “the Most Trusted Name In News”?
(as I just mentioned, coffee might well be in order)
I wake up pretty much dazed, confused, and irreverent.
there ya go – a constructive reply. Would never have thunk of that one myself at this hour.
thankaverrrmuch.
heh.
(that was my Elvis impersonation)(it also needs coffee)
Good takedown Bobby’s logic is superficial and sounds just like every other GOPer. Bobby is on message but isn’t this his area of expertise he has degrees in biology and public policy. I would have expected more meat on his ideas.
Bobby seems better on paper than in front of an audience. I’m wondering if he wrote this. To be fair when Sarah Palin wrote in the newspaper I wondered if that was ghost written too.
Have you seen ET’s posts about Sarah Tweeting? I could not figure out what she was saying.
Anyway your opinion Sarah vs Bobby who is more logically and or vocally challenged?
Good morning everyone. Thanks for your work Elliott. I’m hoping the weather will improve and bail me out so I don’t have to watch talking heads.
WJ is talking about what’s next for Sarah Palin. As though anyone cared.
I do like mocking her if Sarah and Bobby are the future of the GOP well only our own mistakes can bring us down.
Even mocking Sarah has gotten old & tiresome.
You got it right. The only thing that makes Ds look good is by comparison with Rs. Otherwise, not much to crow about.
Good morning some more,
Was a dark and stormy night here, so some of us didn’t actually sleep all night long (that would be me).
It sure is a shame that such a wonderful opportunity to discuss the issues at hand is squandered for agenda pushing and the gotcha, to be sure.
Just take David Gregory last week. Not letting Sebelius get a word in edgewise but then the open forum given to Mitch McConnell. Here’s the Bobblespeak Translation.
and NBC and all their variants haven’t tired of playing the race card yet.
or something… *sigh*
Well, we know for a truth that the wingers care…..and the media – for the fodder she provides. :-(
May be it’s just me but I swan! the people on the idjit box *do* seem to be competing for the stoopid, stoopider, stoopidest awards these days.
We keep being told that Jindal is brilliant. Now, I have a huge respect for brilliance, even if I don’t agree. But I see no evidence that Jindal is in that category.
The talking head shows would be good if there was a real debate. I don’t like hearing important GOPers give speeches and never having their facts challenged.
I don’t like less important GOPers being challenged by fake Dems who give up after a few weak questions.
Its boring.
A real debate would be nice a few FDLers googling GOPer statements and checking for lies to rebute would be cool.
I want polling of African Americans and how they feel about the news playing the race card.
Thanks! Seems to me that Sarah’s a bit more logic-challenged than Bobby is. Bobby at least produces a coherent-seeming piece, it’s just that when you “get into the weeds” on his piece you start saying “Whu-u-uh!?!?!”
I think what I most strongly reacted to was his attempting to say that the government response to Hurricane Katrina was just, y’know, standard, basic, gummint incompetence.
But I see no evidence that Jindal is in that category.
aw, nothing that a good exorcising clean-up wouldn’t fix.
I wonder if he’d still have that inspiring Mr. Rogers-style delivery….
Karen Hughes tried to float that same story with Bush. Bush had emotional intelligence people wanted to have a beer with him.
I think Bush was to self absorbed to pay attention to others emotions. I can’t recall him being compassionate what ever happened to compassionate conservatism was Bush the only member of that club.
And as far as having a beer with him, I know high school drop outs who are smarter and have more personalty.
Yeah no mention that it was Bush and Bobby’s party in charge at the time. Bobby is an Amateur trying to pull a fast one sorry bobby you are not slick though you try and be.
Late last night I saw an article that said that racist comments sent to a newspaper(?) originated at Homeland Security offices. Can’t find it now. Anyone else see that?
This?
Off to work in the yard…spending almost no time these days listening to the so-called “news” programs.
Don’t feel unappreciated, Elliot. You’ve no idea how grateful I am for your Sunday line-up so I know what I’m *not* missing. *smooch*
Y’all have a good one.
Jindal’s a Rhodes Scholar. Does anyone see brilliance when he speaks?
Sarah has her python spirits.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grrsRKP8L0s
Bobby his exorcisms
Mitt Romney his Necromancy
Mormons are still converting dead people to their faith. Talking to the dead when they are suppose to be in heaven or hell is Necromancy Death Magic the worse kind of Black Magic.
What ever happened to the real fundamentalist Republicans?
That’s amazing. No sign of intelligence when he opens his mouth.
Someone once tried to defend Charles Krauthammer as like, this really brilliant guy. I had to admit his paper qualifications were rilly kewl.
Yes, thanks. Is that not amazing? What bubble do I live in that no one I know would write something like that?
No and as rich2506 @ 7 points out Bobby’s ability to construct an argument is not so much. Wait wasn’t Clinton a Rhodes Scholar is that why the GOP is pushing Bobby?
Senators Ensign and Sanford the “ Family” guys were both mentioned as Presidential contenders too all 3 are southern men, religious, conservative.
Ensign and Sanford are not Rhodes Scholars but like Bill they do have a way with the ladies.
Is the GOP trying to cast one of their own as Bill Clinton to run for President?
Yes all the Neocons think they are brilliant. To bad they were wrong about everything. I wonder if Hugh from Hugh’s list has a list of Bush’s accomplishments?
I keep trying to think of one and I keep drawing a blank.
Ditto me. I can’t even imagine writing something like that. What did they hope to accomplish?
He got reelected, which his father couldn’t manage to do, even after Gulf War I.
Ohio was stolen Kerry should have contested it. Wait Stealing 2 Presidential elections he or rather Rove did that but when I said accomplishment I was thinking of Bush doing something good.
*smoooch!*
that man has a heart of stone.
This came from homeland security? Using government computers for personal use is a crime right? I would like this dorks name and picture flashed on the news.
Lets see how many racists send racists e mails on government computers after that!
Agree that both elections were stolen. Kerry was a piss poor candidate with no balls whatsoever. Read something on him once that indicated that the reaction to his Iran-Contra hearings spoiled him from ever doing anything good again.
Accomplishment means doing something good: fair enough.
And the mind of a sponge.
Sheesh, I hope not. I work for the government (local) and do a bit of browsing. Lunch hours, only, of course.
I’m off to read. Just started a good book. Nothing on TV for me this morning. Be well.
Ok maybe not a crime but if you do when your suppose to be working you can get fired.
boy, you got that right!
Later eCAHN
Good morning, pups!
OT, Solai, did you get a fridge?
oo I read a true crime book about him, so odd that he isn’t notorious.
For sure.
Sir Bob Geldof of Live Aid clearly hated Bush over Iraq, etc., but had to admit Bush did good things for Africa. Yeah, Bush’s list of good things is a very short one.
It’s not necessarily a crime, but it is a violation of conduct and discipline code which Federal workers have to read and initial annually. Disciplinary measures can range up to dismissal from the Federal service, depending on the nature of the infraction. However, different agency heads put out different policies. Some have actual need, to browse internet, whereas others don’t.
THINGS!
The diaries appeared. A tech elf’s magic.
No. But going out again today. It’s a freeking nightmare. My current fridge sticks out about 4 inches (which drives me crazy). The new models (for the size I want) now stick out an add’l 3”. It would cover my switch plate. If I go counter-depth (which I want to do) then I don’t have enough clearance for the height. Not to mention that the price jumps. But, we’ve made our decision. We’re contacting a carpenter to see what can be done about the height and then we’ll buy a counter-depth fridge.
This is a great book that I encourage my architecture students to read for all it’s insights on the Columbian exhibition and the parallel crime story.
You’re an architect? Want to come design a refrigerator enclosure?
I’d like a counter depth fridge too, but may run into the same height issue, since I have cupboards over and beside the fridge and a wall on the other side. But unless the current one (16 years old) dies, I’m gonna hang on to it for awhile since I’ll be tapped out paying for granite counters and new range, sink and faucet, and installation.
I will be interested to learn what fridge you decide on. Meanwhile I think I will skip the talking heads and get back to my bathroom wall patch and paint project.
And I can’t wait to see pics of yesterday’s meetup. Someone mentioned an Ohio meetup — that’s driving distance for me!
Ya mean some of the debt “relief” and AIDS funding?
You might want to look into those a little more before giving Shrub any credit for doing “good things for Africa.”
http://www.gregpalast.com/rand…..e-vulture/
These African endeavors are some of the worst in the Bush Crime Family’s pantheon of evil.
Thank You so much! now one more favor in case I sleep through the book club can somebody ask if Rummy’s congressional district included Crystal Lake Ill? I know Phil Crane the drunk took over after Rummy left but districts do get changed around.
I’m wondering if Rummy was ever my Congressman. I’m also wondering if Rummy selected Phil the drunk.
Phil was such a drunk he never led any congress commitites despite having seniority.
I don’t think any congressman has ever before or since been passed over like that. At the very least Rummy gave him the Nod.
Which shows just what a bad judge of character Rummy is.
Thanks again Elliott:)
OK thats one.
Sorry just read your 64 Bush is back at ZERO
There is an underlying conflict associated with this fridge purchase. I want a new kitchen…period. The husband is all “can’t afford it” and of course he’s right but since when does that have any effect on what I want. My kitchen cabinets are original to the house so they’re 54yrs old. The counter top is harvest gold (lol). Do you think they need an update? (Ladies, only, need answer). So, I’m using this fridge breakdown as an excuse to go for it all. Husband, otoh, is more “I just saw a damaged fridge we can get for $400″
Maybe with the right mix of uppers, downers, and radioactive isotopes they can adjust the Jindallbot in the same way they did Dubya. That stupid speech Jindall made left some serious marks. That speech did as much damage to the Jindall brand as Obama’s did to skyrocket him to success.
I’ll never forget the three different wacky Dubyas that showed up for the Kerry “debates”. One with a remote control device strapped to the monkey’s back.
bye folks :)
Good Morning! to a very chatty bunch.
Yesterday there was coverage that the legal contest about the Dallas/SMU/W library property has been settled. Details are sealed. Move along….I was so sorry. I was hoping SMU would take a way out from Kiddyland.
My house is “only” 20 years old. The cabinets are in perfect shape, but much more traditional than I’d like. The countertops are beige laminate, but beginning to show wear, cut marks, etc. I was going to get laminate counters but everyone I talked to said “granite” (or other stone) for resale. Since I probably will sell and move to where my kids and grandkids live within the next 5 years, I do need to consider resale, so I’m hitting the home equity line to pay for at least a partial upgrade (no new cabinets, tho…).
And since I’m divorced, there’s no husband to veto (or help PAY for) my choice. A mixed blessing…
In case you think you wandered into a time warp, Solai and I are discussing refrigerators again. So sorry, it’s my fault — totally OT. We are having several parallel conversations this morning. Please join in whichever one you like! LOL!
LOL
And good morning some more.
Thanks msmolly, I’m so groggy this am that I’m not sure what I could add except a nod, or a shake of the head.
You don’t want a carpenter or rough guy you need a cabinetmaker or a kitchen installer.
A good cabinetmaker can size down your existing cabinet and it will not stand out like a sore thumb.
A carpenter could tell you if they could go into the stud cavities behind if there is no plumbing , electric or heat in the walls.
Good point.
SO OT and not relevant, but fun.
I’m about the enlarge the Sarah Palin on a dress that is used in our theaters’ production of All Shook Up. There’s a joke about this grease stain being the size of Alaska on a dress. So I made the stain the shape of Alaska, but it needs to be larger. In the interim the stain has become known as the Sarah Palin stain since she is the stain of Alaska.
She IS the Stain of Alaska!
I was also thinking of a sillouette of her head, with up do and all. But the shape of Alaska is more recognizable. I wanted to work in a line a bout seeing Russia from that stain but I thought it would be best not to suggest it.
Keep in mind that particle board cabinets may not support granite tops.
Good Morning Refrigerator Puppies
I have a question that I’ve been avoiding and I guess now is as good a time as any.
Does anyone have a Katymine update?
Check your appliance store – they usually have dinged fridges for less money, and the damage is usually not bad enough to keep it from being cold. Dings on the sides are easier to hide than on the door, but if you put stuff on the door, you can hide those too.
Have you been talking to my husband?
I haven’t seen Katy for a few days, but she’s been around on the evening threads in the last week or two. She’s (for obvious good reasons) really passionate about the health care/insurance coverage issues.
PJ, you need to get with the meme, here. We’re trying to get Solai a new KITCHEN!!
Bah hahahahahaha! I just had to share this with all of you:
