Aretha Franklin – Baby, I Love You/Respect (1968, Viet Nam).
What’s on your mind?
I know that Leonard asked for a respite, but it’s Rufus’s birthday. Hallelujah!
baby, I love you!
hey mr why
neuro you smooth talker you
Great track, Suz!
hey newton – thanks. how’s the bay area tonight (and what’s the forecast for this weekend?)
Bay Area is fine, and the forecast – have to see nahant about predictions. I have no clue.
Hey Suzanne, everyone loves a smooth talker!
i’ve been searching the innertubes but have been unable to identify where this was shot. i think it is from the tv show called operation: entertainment where a variety show was filmed each week at a different military base. sure is pretty behind the stage
hey ce – how’s ohio?
Great pick, Suz!
hey margot – how’s southern ohio tonight?
cooler today. weather underground says highs saturday in the upper 60s to lower 80s, which isn’t much help
Last I heard it should be more of the same! Warm days lows 80’s cool nights high 50’s to low 60’s perfect weather. but of course if ya carry your own heater……
Y’all can never go wrong with ‘Retha
Nailed that Bulgarian Judge …
that helps spur – i’m trying to figure out what to pack.
So lovely and cool I can hardly believe it — and rain expected every day this week. Yea!
thatguy – she sure can sing
hey petro – the idea is to soak him – not land on him
Has this man splashed all the water out of the pool?
its been overcast but not foggy here all day. got up to 69 and no wind.
Suz, today was representative of what can be expected all weekend, 70s/lows 80s day, 50s/60s at night.
Oopsies … *g*
subjectively, pretty warm during the day but maybe something extra for night. (fog has come back)
that guy – you gonna come?
Uh it is a Lake Chris.. that sure would be a lot of water!!!
Since Summer has forgotten Toronto [ and God had forgotten the Blue Jays ] I thought I’d take a dive in your warm waters …
i’ll gonna have to bring fleece and lightweight cotton. there goes the idea of getting everything into my backpack. gonna have to drag out a duffie bag
I’m so off ocean, lake (even though I live near one), and too pool oriented — sorry nahant!
Hey ThatGuy it is not too late to decide to make the Meetup here in Redwood city!! Let me know and I will give you contact info……
Lake Erie? Cleveland?
are you flying? just wear the fleece and stuff the rest in the knapsack (of course, i only buy clothes that don’t wrinkle).
the lake has whatever ya need. there are cliffs on the west side that q uses when he does his cliffside dives, a hot tub, pool, diving pool and even a kiddie pool at times. there are hammocks and lounge chairs and towels for lounging around on the beach.
Firedog Lake … the one with the 24- hour party atmosphere … *g*
driving and its gonna be hot on 5. headed to sac thur and then to carmel on fri and then nahants in redwood city sat… and then head back home sun.
SE Ohio is nice, cooler than usual or so it seems (usually summers here are very muggy), spatter of rain today. It feels more like NM mountain weather. Very odd but I will take it.
To recover from the last few months of CNN and Hardball, we have had to watch hours of “What Not To Wear” — are you kidding me, there can be NO fleece in the Democratic Party. Heh heh, kidding.
Carmel ? Please give NPB a Bear Hug for me … and everyone else at the meetup.
gonna pick up some more (hopefully the rest) of my plants she has been plantsitting.
goddess, I’m such a loser.
5 and sac should be hideous but at least not as hot as last week. carmel should be cool. rc somewhere in the middle
you a loser? no way ce
Didn’t you forget the BAR under the Palms???
isn’t npb coming to the meetup?
gonna have lightweight stuff for the drive and then get into my warmer stuff for carmel. traveling in winter is easier – everything is fleece :)
It’s tough to follow the many conversations on Late Nite … ((( CE )))
npb’s been busy working at the museum trying to keep it afloat. small museums don’t do well in economic hard times.
Suz, you are sweet – thanks luv.
Well, you’re in good company,dear.
shuffling off to bed. nite all
It may be tough to negotiate, but try to stay away from Redding any time after noon, if possible. It’s miserable. Was like 106 degrees at 6 pm.
Still don’t know. Shoot me an email with an address.
g’nite spur – see ya saturday
I think that if I don’t head to bed I’ll be sorry, but sorry to leave you all. Goodnight!
G’nite Spurious !
Ciao CE … I’m out as well. G’nite all !
Have a safe trip, Suz !
hey emerson – yeah it totally sucks from redding south. i hope to be driving that portion at night – my ac can only do so much.
and thursday, when i leave, is the start of a big heat wave up here – should be close to 100 in medford and southern oregon. yuck.
g’nite petro – bear hugs for everyone (check)
will send ya nahant’s info
yeah, that’s probably best if you’re taking 5. I always thought 1 was cooler, but it’ s been a while now.
Hiya pups – Suzanne!
Just finished teaching Checking to see if I got any new news in my email before I hit the road.
lol! We’ve got high 70’s-89’s here in the Puget Sound. We’re melting… it’s so hot we’ve got the ac on. Jeez. What a difference a region makes.
The basil, beans and squash are in heaven.
No no! I just can’t keep up.
101 is a much nicer eye candy ride emerson but the car is a stick shift and all those turns require downshifts.
hey et – that’s some quiet summer you guys have going on this year :)
Cool Suz, forward him my last email to those making the Meetup with all the directions and contact info!! Hope ya can make it ThatGuy… do let me know. but then again SHOW UP!!
On that note I am grabbing my parachute and bailing out!! Hopefully it will work tonight!!
whoops, make that 80’s, At 89 degrees the media kicks in with “personal stories” about the heat wave.
portland is forecast to hit 101 sat
gotcha. Hope it cools off a bit for ya.
I have memories of 101 starting out as a fun trip and winding up being a pain. Hours and hours of winding roads.
i hope so to emerson. i don’t do hot well
i love the views around each turn – but hard to take in the views and drive at the same time.
Brain bleach is also conveniently located near all exits and under all benches for immediate usage in case of emergency..
Just a drive by, gnite y’all.
my orthopedist who put in this fake knee forbid me to drive a stick shift. i try to minimize the shifting as much as possible but… so its gonna be a gazillion degrees on 5 but my knee and my back will be happier.
hi and g’thud busted
evening pups – splash, got him!
nicely done sunny – bet that blasted bulgarian never saw it coming
I’m the same way. Had a fan on all winter when I lived on the EAST coast!
I suggest you make lots of stops. Even if it’s only for 10 minutes for sodas and AC. Just don’t stop in a town called Williams.
i stop often… gotta refill the coffee cup (laughing)
Cheap sucker-punch. He was still wiping off from Petro’s hit.
wicked evil laugh
Hi Suz, hi pups, just stopping in for a sec…I hope you all have a great time at Nahant’s this weekend!
sunny forgot to tell ya – 14 was a winner :) currently reading the open window, a lincoln rhyme by jeffery deaver.
hey ll – nice to see ya – there should be pictures to share with those who can not make it.
Oh very cool Suz, will be looking forward to seeing the pics. One day I will make it out to the west coast.
We had a visit at work this week from a retired co-worker who relocated to Eureka a couple of years back; he totally loves it, and is very happy out there.
eureka is a lovely old town – well old by west coast standards :) beautiful victorians
I hope you all will have a great meet up. It’s really a pretty incredible journey FDL has taken from the Libby trials to meet-ups. To calls for action that actually pan out.
Have a wonderful time.
it sure has been a fun ride openhope. g’nite.
Found a used copy yesterday! Don’t recall if I read 13 – mind is a sieve (turning into my mother faster than I’d like).
Just finished downloading Rachel’s take down of Uncle Pat. Off to check it out, then to bed. Early appointment w/my passive-aggressive mechanic. Gotta be calm and well rested. He pushes ALL my buttons.
Dana did quite a bit of research before making the huge move out there; he was mainly motivated by the great weather they seem to have ;-) He had lived in SF a while back, and loves CA in general, so it was kind of a logical move for him.
you did – 13 was the hardback you sent me (unless my mind has turned to mush again). restful sleep and hopes the mechanic says it is an easy fix. g’nite
i love being by the pacific. tis so wild and yet so calming.
I need to scoot as well; gotta take kitteh to the vet at 11 to re-check the status of her mild ear infections. Nice to talk with you Suz and Sunny; safe journeys to the meet-up to all who are travelling…good night!
fingers and toes crossed she gets a clean bill of health ll – g’nite
i’m going to head out too pups. have a wee headache – sorry if i was off tonight… g’nite all
When have you been off? G’nite Suz.
