Looks like someone’s got a case of the grumpies after getting smacked by the President yesterday.
Always amusing when Republicans tout their innovative plans for reforming health care: tax cuts and "getting out of the way of the market."
Never been tried!

Shorter DeMint:
waaaaaaaaAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaAAAAaaahhhhhhhhhhHHHhhhhhhhhh!
I’m absolutely DONE with these SORE LOSERS who can do nothing but throw tantrums and soil their droopy diapers on the floor.
Oh, and LIE. Also.
I do believe they had more than a ‘day or two’ on the stimulus, which hasn’t even kicked in yet…
Keep it up, Jim!
Hey, Blue Dogs: Why are you hanging out with this clown?
Blow jobs.
Oh, the dreaded “Democrat” majority. “Democrat” colleagues. Asshole.
Call the waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaambulance.
Good thing he didn’t let on about his bill to repeal Amendments 13 and 14.
DeMint is 100% on the money. Only you marxists could argue in favor of this bill.
This nationalized health care plan is going to go down in flames… as it should.
While the Republicans continue to agitate for anarchy and delay…Democrats are working to construct health care reform. Why do the Republicans hate you and me?
Health care bills don’t take a vacation. Health care crises don’t take a vacation. Health care needs never take a vacation.
Keep the Congress in Washington working in August until they pass health care reform.
May I suggest we refer to him as Senator Demented?
While the Republicans continue to agitate for anarchy and delay…Democrats are working to construct health care reform. Why do the Republicans hate you and me?
Health care bills don’t take a vacation. Health care crises don’t take a vacation. Health care needs never take a vacation.
Keep the Congress in Washington working in August until they pass health care reform that works for all of us.
I love DeMint’s whining about “the last time we had to pass a bill in a hurry,” referring the bailout bill.
Whose watch did THAT occur on, loser?
Jeeze, we should just play “scary bingo” with these guys: set up the boards with “rationing,” “abortion,” “Democrat” [as opposed to Democratic], “government take-over” [oooh, what ever happened to that old buggaboo “socialized medicine”?], “frivolous lawsuits,” and on and on. Whenever one of these clowns utters one of these words, cover that one on the game board. Soon . . . . b-i-n-g-o.
Note also that DeMint says “we can give Americans ACCESS to buying insurance. [$5000 for a year’s worth of insurance, with no provisions re pre-existing conditions, etc.] What planet do these guys inhabit?
I’m seeing other stories that the bill’s being pulled until after the recess. I cry for my country and the stupid, stupid people who “govern” it.
Now,if you rename it WEALTH care reform,the Repubes would be camping out on the Senate floor THRU August!
frederic:
It’s good to see you haven’t given up!! Have you read Dylan Thomas lately?
please remove duplication of my post.
The same marxists who bailed out AIG, Goldman-Sachs, BOA . . .
IIRC the R’s pushed the Patriot Act through Congress before anyone had a chance to read it. Hypocrite.
I could only watch :40 of demint reading his lies and spin. Jeez. I guess some intern typed it up for him.
“just type up some crap and I’ll whine with it”.
This was EPU’d yesterday on a post regarding DeMint and friends.
Here’s the latter half of the story from the comments:
The “She” in this story was a lifelong Republican who has had it with her political party.
I encourage people to get out there and tell people what is happening and get people to call. It makes a difference.
Heck, I was able to show her the YouTube of DeMint on my cell phone. She simply flipped and apologized to me that a Repug was so stupid.
The chances of any health care reform passing seem to be fading away along with Obama’s poll numbers. Good job so called progressives! As I predicted that’s what happens when you splinter your own party.
The August recess will give us a chance to get in our congressmoron’s face. Unless they bail on their districts altogether we’ve have a chance to confront him/her on our own turf. A crowd of folks at the Rep/Sen’s local office every day just might get their attention.
Excellent !
Senator DeMented is a glutton for punishment … fortunately for him, we have an endless supply of it to give !
When it’s that good, it deserves to be read twice ! *g*
I’m overcome by your concern for your fellow citizens.
From the Washington Times:
A world-renowned clinic (Mayo) that President Obama held up as an example of good medicine said Monday that the American people would be “losers” under the House’s health care proposal, joining the growing chorus of critics the Obama administration is trying to fend off as the debate intensifies from Capitol Hill to Main Street.
Let’s go slow on this.
Hell, I’d like him to read some Marx so he’d at least have some idea of what he’s (frederic) talking about.
I had something of a similar reaction during the campaign when I gently informed a friend that McCain has voted against every veteran bill that came his way. His jaw bounced on the floor.
Thatsa funny, I got a haddock too.
done.
someone on KO pointed out last night that the President was missing one of his usual somethings in this fight – ‘an enemy’
and now look at this first string dumbass – throwing gasoline on the fire – aiyeee !
thanks for painting the target and lighting a fire under his incremental ass Senator WATB
Well, we can’t go any slower than doing nothing!
This recession is awful … we used to get much better “friends” earlier. *g*
Hey, Petro! You always appear as I’m leavin’. Ya missed a good Book Saloon with Bill Greider on the previous thread. No uberreichwingnut trolls, either.
Back to the cesspool.
Namaste
Let’s get to the heart of the story. What’s DeMented’s relationship with C Street?
Angling for the newly vacated “digs” over at C Street?
Citizen torgo:
And the fact that the Mayo Clinic does quite well, thank you very much, with the existing subsidized care system (subsidized by tax payers and workin’ folks without insurance) doesn’t have anything ta do with their political stand on this…good God Citizen, wakeup it’s 2009 not 1909!!!
Mormon leaders on Monday presented President Obama with detailed volumes of his family history during a private White House meeting.
The documents showed Obama was born in Kenya. Obama thanked the leaders and said he would share them with his family.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QdyLOUHz-A
Sure you aren’t confusing DeMented with David Vitter?
Haha! I went to the wiki and was presented with all kinds of wiki disclaimers about “weasel words”!!! too funny. Here’s one thing of interest:
That’s two demints in one!
Citizen redfish:
And just who is doin’ the “splintering” on healthcare…how’s the weather on your side of the moon today?
whoa.
Dig those email addresses.
israeliinsider, atlasshrugged.
kooky.

Citizen torgo:
Back under the bridge…too much sun will kill those last two brain cellz.
The first Q of any reporter for a R should be: When did you start cheating on your wife and what do you intended to do about it?
This was published today.
And this is of interest as well.
And then, from the past fall 2008, this.
Now think abut all the $$$ in the stim package for modernization of health care records.
Perhaps Obama knows by now where his savings for a national plan will come from?
Namaste SD !
Thanks for the heads up … will go back and read. See you on Late Nite.
Iron clad proof there, right? Everything’s real when it appeals to the wingnuts.
Since when was the stimulus a colossal failure? It just wasn’t enough. And in this day and age, who is going to buy the line about “getting out of the way of the market.” Do these guys write new speeches, or do they just have a file they keep going back to year after year?
Can we get a Democratic congressman to propose a constitutional amendment to allow us to throw a state out of the union by a simple majority vote of all of the people?
Has South Carolina ever produced one decent human being as governor, representative or senator?
Screw it, kick them out. They are a buncha leeches on the rest of us. In fifty years they may reach the level Mexico is at now.
The more DeMint is called out as hypocrite and a bought and paid for weenie for special interest groups, the better… Does he live in the C Street house or is he affiliated with ‘The Family” as well?? Wouldn’t surprise me…
Wonder if he Beck and Hannratty go on fishing trips together……hummm….
I think the first question should be “just how far up your ass IS your head, anyway, and how do you accomplish such a feat at taxpayer expense?”
Get out of the way and cut taxes for the wealthy! Bush’s tax cuts worked so well.

Also, if anybody wondered why WalMart suddenly did a 180 on Obama’s health plan,forthwith may be an answer”

Dossia is a Personal health record service offered by some of the largest employers in the United States. Along with Microsoft’s HealthVault and Google’s Google Health, Dossia is one of the largest PHR deployments in the world. [1] Unlike the other two large PHR efforts, Dossia is based on Open Source software.
Dossia cooperates with Boston Children’s Hospital CHIP (Children’s Hospital Informatics Program) to create the Indivo Open Source PHR. Dossia differs from traditional tethered PHR services, by providing user access to health information regardless of health plan, employer or physician. Users also have the ability to download their full record, in electronic form, at any time.
It is an initiative formed from the following companies:
AT&T
Applied Materials
BP America
Cardinal Health
Intel
Pitney Bowes
Sanofi-aventis

Dossia is significant because it is formed by some of the largest employers in the United States with the intention of offering a PHR to its employees. Given the number of employees of these combined institutions, Dossia could be one of the largest PHR systems in the world.
I don’t know, but one SC resident I cannot give up is Stephen Colbert!
Well, it would be a good idea to get out of the way of the stock market when it’s crashing, which the Fed Chiefs seem prone to cause.
My vote for first question is, “Why do you hate regular Americans?”
about that Mayo Clinic story . . .
it’s in the Moonie Times
they use actual quotes only once in the article, and funny that, not a single Mayo spokesperson is named – quotes are attributed to “clinic officials”
This is also worth listening to.
I admit, there are so many good Qs to ask Rs, it’s hard to choose.
Too bad none of them are ever asked.
Hmm,wasn’t ATT Senator DeMented LARGEST donor according to a post upthread?
Tsk tsk. It seems you live in that quaint reality-based world. For shame. /s
Cheating on a spouse is a requirement stated in the version of the Bible Republics love to thump.
DeMinted currently lives at C Street
yep, a Free Marketeer paying $600/mo in subsidized rent
Well done. That was my next stop. Thanks for posting.
The weather is just fine here – how is the weather on the dark side where fringe leftists with an agenda have splintered the democratic party, threatened democratic members of congress that didn’t agree with them and attacked and weakened a Democrat president.
As I predicted here over and over for months now the result would be no health care, a precipitous drop in Obama’s poll numbers, and a disaster in the 2010 midterms. Watch everything I predicted come true. Good job! All to have some fun being “witty” on a blog.
Quick, someone dress up as a lobbyist and offer DeMint some money to shut up.
They have no time to ask questions like that. They need to talk about foreign and quasi-foreign birth certificates found on the internet. Birthers – the true modern patriots!
@63
You’re MORE than welcome.
Not to mention the opportunities for extracurricular frolicking.
Yes, there are some with wit here.
Sorry you aren’t having fun at it…yet.
OK, according to an April 2003 AP story that is no longer available but reprinted here, Jim DeMint did/does live at the infamous C Street house. But you can read it here on a site devoted to exposing all manner of cults.
Here are the congresscritters listed therein:
Aargh – let’s see, “not enough time to read the bill” – two weeks more on top of the time they’ve already had.
Where was this guy’s protest at the speed with which the Patriot Act was voted on and passed? Barely a day, as I recall – they admitted they didn’t read it.
Citing the CBO plan that he prefers – ignoring the later one showing revenue neutral.
Lying flat out about the stimulus being “a collossal failure,”.
And oh, yeah, LYING about “high taxes on small businesses.”
And who’s the “non-partisan group” that claims people will lose their health care? Might that be the Lewin Group, a subsidiary of United Health Care?
Ooooh, scary, “even government-funded abortions.”
Hey, you lying SOB—ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!
The only way they win is by recyclinng their same old lies.
Thanks. Stupak & Doyle? Two Ds. Not familiar with their records. Blue Dogs?
You say that like it’s a bad thing!
Of course we challenge our president, regardless of what party he belongs to. It’s called vigilance and accountability.
Just Google DeMint Palfrey. Lots of confirmation out there about his living at C Street.
He was quite talkative about Vitter.
Wonder if Hustler has his phone number?
From Salon.
You got through that much of it?
crossing fingers, klynn!
ugh. thanks.
LOL!
Let’s hope Larry has great timing. He has at least 30 names to reveal.
It’s a very serious thing. The results will be no health reform at all and a weak president. If liberal and moderate Democrats had come together with the support of the liberal bloggosphere and constructed a health care plan that started reform, cut costs, did away with pre-existing conditions, etc. you could have passed it and Obama and the Democrats would have been flying high. You start slowly and work it for years to come. But no, the fringe left had to go off on this utterly un-doable single-payer, universal coverage boondoggle with no way to pay for it.
If the progressives don’t call “bullshit”, who’s going to do it? Oh. Jim Demented. I almost forgot. My bad.
No it’s called being naive and losing.
I went to look up Stupak. He’s from the northern most district of Michigan which includes the little pointy part and the top of the “mitten”. His website seems very appropriately comported for a state facing mass unemployment. Not that that means anything, but no Bible jumped out of the screen and smacked me in the face.
Maybe he got wise to the Family? I wonder how we find out? Hillary bugged out too, didn’t she?
I’m going to look up the other dude now.
Re the Mayo story it is two short paragraphs on their health policy blog. This is it in its entirety. All it is saying is that the House bill won’t contain costs because it isn’t using Medicare for this purpose:
http://healthpolicyblog.mayocl…..ttee-bill/
Thanks again. Didn’t know Hillary was part of the Family. OY.
You never know what you are talking about ever, do you?
Yes, I did type 30 names.
Doyle has the PA district which includes Pittburgh. He seems to championing many of the issues we care about: job creation, reducing dependency on foreign oil, etc.
http://doyle.house.gov/about.shtml
Thanks for posting that comment Hugh. Important clarification. That may need to be a frontpage story tied into the Cleveland Clinic visit story.
You’d think the family values party, would want to see all families, receive decent health care.
Hmmm . Why the opposition to real reform ? Could it be the millions in campaign contributions?
The promise of a lifetime job as an insurance company lobbyist ?
No it couldn’t be that ,he surely must be following his concience , doing what he feels is best for America !
Yeah that’s it !
Here you go, a tasty read about the Family in The Nation. It references Jeff Sharlet and also leads with Hillary.
Well, I’ll keep my antennae up.
WHAT? I can’t hear you!!! I need a hearing aid but the insurance companies told me I don’t need one! What?
oo thanks!
Fixed it for ya.
The part about Hillary looking for her identity seems about right.
You can say that but what is the reality? Is there going to be health care reform? No. Did your threats work? No. Has Obama become a weakened Prsident due in large part to attacks on him from the left? Yes.
This is what happens when advocacy groups are naive and not pragmatic. You just cannot admit that I was and am right and that you are wrong. The facts speak the truth though they always do.
I’LL TRY TO WRITE LOUDER IF THAT HELPS .
So DeMented proposed giving $5,000 a year to people who are laid off or unemployed to spend on healthcare.
CAN I ASK SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT?
1) What about people who are under-employed, working three part-time jobs with no benefits for less than a living wage? It’s not like there aren’t any of those.
2) How will eligibility be determined? Will it a) have a Byzantine and corrupt bureaucracy standing between you and your health care; b) be open to abuse; or c) both?
3) Will this $5,000 be available to anyone who needs it or a) just Republicans b) just white males or c) just white male Republicans?*
Inquiring minds want to know.
~~~
* – excuse the redundancy.
I don’t want 5000 bucks I want health care.
Where in the Us can anyone get health coverage for a family for $5000?
Perhaps the unemployed could get the same health coverage the Senator gets
How about Dylan, Bob:
It was just hanging out there…couldn’t resist.
LOLOL! Thanks, billybugs!
ding.
How about some free market intervention into his health plan? I don’t even know why legislators get health care. seems like some kind of conflict of interest.
eat your own dog food senator!
Senor DeMentia update:
Senator Blocks Obama Nominee for Latin America Over Honduras
Source: Bloomberg
U.S. Senator Jim DeMint has placed a “hold” on President Barack Obama’s nominee for the top diplomatic post for Latin America over dissatisfaction with the administration’s handling of Honduras’ political crisis.
In a letter dated today, the South Carolina Republican asked Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry, a Massachusetts Democrat, to put the hold on the nomination of Arturo Valenzuela as the next U.S. State Department official in charge of Western Hemisphere affairs. DeMint also asked Kerry to temporarily block the nomination of Thomas Shannon, who currently occupies that post, as ambassador to Brazil. A copy of the letter was obtained by Bloomberg News.
Wesley Denton, a spokesman for DeMint who confirmed the letter’s authenticity, said the request was made following the officials’ unsatisfactory response to questioning about Honduras during a July 9 committee hearing to evaluate their nominations.
(snip)
DeMint was among 17 Republican lawmakers who complained to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over her refusal to meet in Washington with representatives of the interim government named by the Honduran congress after Zelaya was ousted by the military June 28.
Huuummmmm.
I guess the truth is hard to come by these days.
One of the more interesting affiliates of the Fellowship is Senator and former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY). A former “Goldwater Girl” in the 1964 presidential campaign, Mrs. Clinton seemed to have partially recovered some of her earlier conservative underpinnings. According to her autobiography, Living History, after her husband became president, Clinton paid a visit to a women’s meeting at the Cedars on February 24, 1993. Present were Susan Baker (wife of the first Bush’s Secretary of State, James Baker III), Grace Nelson (wife of Florida’s Bill Nelson), Joanne Kemp (wife of former HUD Secretary Jack Kemp), Linda LeSourd Lader (wife of Clinton ambassador to Britain and founder of the Renaissance Weekend Phil Lader – the Renaissance Weekend in Charleston, South Carolina is billed by Lader as a “spiritual” event[3]), and Holly Leachman of the Falls Church Episcopal Church (one of the churches taken over by the Fellowship).
Senator Clinton admits to having a continuing close relationship with Susan Baker, through Baker’s visits to Capitol Hill and the letters she and other Fellowship wives wrote her during the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton. Even Bill Clinton seemed to have been taken in by the Fellowship.
In his autobiography, My Life, Clinton brags that he never missed a National Prayer Breakfast.
Ironically, it was Susan Baker’s husband who served as the political fix-it man for Clinton’s Vice President Al Gore in delivering Florida’s 25 electoral votes to George W. Bush in 2000, costing Gore the White House. In fact, Senator Clinton wrote that all of her relationships with the Fellowship began with the luncheon she attended in 1993. In her biography, Senator Clinton writes of Douglas Coe, “[he] is a genuinely loving spiritual mentor . . . Doug Coe became a source of strength and friendship.” Of course, Clinton is referring to the period of time when her husband was being harassed by conservative Republicans out for blood – the Whitewater investigation and impeachment hearings brought about by what she called the “vast right-wing conspiracy” against her husband. It is amazing that Mrs. Clinton would have established such a trusting relationship with people who were the “vast right-wing conspiracy” that she complained about so vociferously. (Expose’ “Christian Mafia”.Insider Magazine)
Please note that the article from which this post is excerpted was written well before Sharlet’s book. It is a SUPERB,and LENGTHY piece.A veritable history of the last 40 years or so and the intersecting of God and Government,aka Christian Capitalism.
I don’t think you all have figured this out. The pullback of the markup means the “public option” is DEAD. The people don’t want socialism, they won’t stand socialism and they WILL revolt against it.
I couldn’t watch but about a minute and a half of it.
Was there ANYTHING that came out of his mouth that wasn’t a lie, obfuscated, twisted wrong, and full of shit?
I’ve got that sour taste in my mouth and my stomach’s churning a bit . . . industrial strength pepto bismal required.
Geez what a piece of work . . .
Fritz Hollings was a decent senator and person. Blue Doggish, but real.
Hmmm, Senator Colbert? LOL
