Mornin’, Elliott and pups -
Little markie sanford has an opinion piece in The State (while he finishes the make-up session with his non-soul mate) and mostly it’s about “me, me, me”. There were only a few comments at the time I read it but they were generally not what one would describe as positive.
http://www.thestate.com/editor…..69645.html
Thanks Elliott!
Good morning Waccamaw,
…generally not what one would describe as positive.?? You should have been a diplomat.
.
If you don’t feel like watching the ‘Heads, there’s a twelve hour documentary on “Latex in Muggy Climates” on the PaintDrying Channel.
And we’re featuring classic neon.
.
Yep..but so far, I did not see any that were calling for God to strike Sanford dead(but then, I did not go farther than the first page..).
Did you read the comment that said, “You had me at ’sandwich shop’”? I know that’s a take-off on “You had me at ‘hello’” or something to that effect but since that phrase was well into the opinion, I couldn’t figure out whether or not the commenter was/wasn’t supportive.
Anyhoo, it’ll be interesting to monitor the tenor of the thread later in the day.
oh, and I found out about the thing from an AP piece that, iirc, did NOT acknowledge *where* the opinion was published…… and we already know what *their* journalistic standards are. :-(
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd, Friedman, Kristof and Rich in the NYT today. MoDo, in “Pharisees on the Potomac,” says Republicans are still practicing the ancient political art of Tartuffery, of course, just without their former aplomb. The Moustache of Wisdom, in “Teacher, Can We Leave Now? No.” says watching the delight in the faces of Afghan girls crowded into a school waiting to learn put a new perspective on the war. Mr. Kristof, in “His Maternal Instinct,” writes about how a Pakistani doctor’s devotion to the care of women is saving lives. Mr. Rich says “They Got Some ‘Splainin’ To Do,” and that the Sotomayor show reduced the antics of Washington’s clueless ancien-régime to a spectacle as ridiculous as it was obsolescent.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and the cold drinks are in the fridge for later. This morning I’ve got French toast made with challah, with warm maple syrup. It’s a lovely morning, so I’m going to take my tea out into the garden. Have a great day.
Looked to me like 100% “get the f*ck out”.
Hey, Toby -
He might have wanted to rethink the use of that particular word. *GG* Tho’, Dog knows, we can be 99.9% certain that the twit *did* write it ’cause it sure reads like he talks.
Masterful understatement! They’re calling him 6 kinds of hypocrite and howling for his resignation.
Obama’s association with Summers and Geithner will be his downfall…Obama needs to cut himself loose from these pirates soon.
That assessment was based on just the first few……I’m reeeeeeally trying to hold off goin’ back ’til they get a chance to build up a good head of steam. *g*
Good morning folks. Luckily another spectacular weather day will keep me outside & away from talking heads.
Thanks for your work Elliott.
Morning all, Typical Sunday. Thanks Elliott
Couldn’t wait any longer……WOW! There’ve been a couple of extra super-duper good ones added invoking the name of C-Street and Teh Family. Bet the other cult members are major pissed that sanford *ever* mentioned their presence in his life. Will be interesting to see what the after-church people have to say.
Newsweek is doing a profile of Stiglitz are they perhaps preparing the public for Summers or Geithner to leave?
I’m of the opinion that before unemployment gets to 15% Summers and Geithner will resign, be fired and be blamed by Obama because someone will need to take the blame.
And then some new economists will come in I’m hoping for Lefty Economists.
http://www.newsweek.com/id/207390?from=rss
mornin’ all.
preempted for the British Open…
hmm – I like it – we may be onto something here.
Keynes Newsweek said did not make that big of an impression on FDR at first. Stiglitz supported Obama early but never got the call for a job yet, is history repeating.
Before Keynes who was FDR’s econ policy person? That person’s failure if there even was such a person left the door open for Keynes.
59 yr old Tom Watson starts in about an hour with a 1 stroke lead.
CBS’ Face The Nation: Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT),… , Michael Steele
I wonder whether we could ask that Orrin Hatch please *Face* the other direction.
and Michael Steele will probably do that all on his own – he does a proclivity for showing his a**…
heh……that was my same reaction. *g* I’m not one of the sports pups but any activity that replaces the slop that the Sunday talking heads produce is A-O-K at this end of the line.
yeah – I watched some yesterday – I’m digging it – go Tom!
The Family is engaged in clean up they seemed to have picked young (for Presidential contenders) ambitious charismatic guys to be members they seem to have been shopping for a GOP Bill Clinton.
But do they realize someone Mitt or Jeb is leaking their secrets considering Sarah resigned someone not us is taking the Fundy GOP Presidential candidates out early.
If it was us we got a lot more undercover investigators than the MSM ever did to take out Sarah, Ensign and Sanford plus expose and thus cripple the Family?
That would take a GOP traitor of the highest rank Mitt or Jeb or a Lefty conspiracy in the heart of the GOP.
The GOP will publicly blame us for this soon but will they privately will they go on a witch hunt?
That’s one maternal instinct I chose to ignore; but will pick Rich. My sentiment exactly after listening to a bunch with te opportunity to posture with mouths open. Good Morning. RIP Cronkite….wonder what he ever said about Rush, Sean, Laura-ilk.
The Corporate wing of the GOP has thrown down the gauntlet will the Fundies blame us, a Corporate wing traitor or the entire Corporate wing of the GOP.
If the Fundies blame us the Corporate wing will have a free hand to keep nailing the Fundies and will be able to put their guy against Obama.
The best case for the GOP one Corporate wing GOPer is named blamed quick and the Fundies cast him out of the GOP.
Worse case for the GOP a GOP civil war or a Fundy sulk where with no Fundies running they stay home election day.
I’m not sure even the Fundies are paranoid enough to blame us for the next 4 years for what just happened its to big to be coincidence though.
he has an artificial hip? now I’m really rooting for him.
Hmmmmm……..CNN now talking about the sanford opinion piece; that should add to the number of comments at The State.
Good Morning.
Has anyone actually read ‘The Family’? I know the subject matter is interesting but how’s the book overall?
8 years(?) after Bush and Afghan girls schools are still getting bombed its time to leave.
Or to put it in terms the Moustache might understand if your wife had sold her stock after a 50% drop instead of riding it to the bottom you both might still be uber rich instead of just rich.
Has his wife’s family been investigated for the decline in stock price declines that big that fast might have something criminal behind it.
EW or her people probably have they are the point people on that story. Is the MSM even covering the family yet? (no tv here)
In the “Life’s Little Mysteries” area:
Why is it that every time I pour (with my right hand) a cup of coffee (in my left hand), I feel the immediate need to know what time it is and look at my watch (which is on my left wrist)??
the takeaway from this, I suppose, is: “Don’t ever pour a cup of coffee while barefoot.”
or something.
Or buy a kitchen clock.
David Gregory is nothing more than a fluffer for Republicans and the Blue Dogs. “Journalist?” Merely a corporate fluffer for the status quo. His days are numbered at NBC. After getting his pink slip he’ll have the opportunity to open a dance academy with Karl Rove. As for his replacement, it’s been suggested that Luke Russert could very well be tapped. Just another example of the rise of the new aristocracy where birth trumps merit. Is this a great system or what?
Good morning everyone,
The weather is just divine here. Life is good. And mMm! what a delicious night’s sleep I had. Nothing like waking up with a smile on your face.
Yeah, a pretty wan offering this morning. After Words on “Eco Barons: The Dreamers, Schemers and Millionaires Who are Saving Our Planet” looks interesting.
If you were scheduling guests for Sunday Talking Heads this week, who would you invite? I’d focus on the racist tone of the Sotomayor hearing, the hypocrisy of Jeff Sessions, and the likes of Buchanan being a beloved teeVee guest. Only Maddow seemed to take him on, her interview really revealed his contempt for all who aren’t white males.
Rachel has been on it multiple nights; can’t remember if Keef hit it or not.
Solai -
It’s on my buy-list as soon as I get to a big town bookstore; fortunate that it’s now in paperback cost-wise.
if only he would *s*
Thanks for the tip on the Sanford editorial Waccamaw.
I’d settle for seeing gregory (worthless piece of spit) trying to ’splain [sic] himself wrt his e-mails to sanford’s people. :-(
.
http://mgpaquin.wordpress.com/
640 schools burned or shut down despite American and NATO troops in the country? We are not winning Moron.
Good morning everyone, just stopped by to say hello.
Cronyocracy or Reverse Darwin seem to best describe the system.
Based on the comments thread, he sure ain’t done himself any favors by having the thing published….just dragging out the dirty laundry again. May be gregory will send him another invite. :-(
*crossing fingers* Hope you’re right that Obama sees the light.
How are your new trees doing? You sure planted a lot and were blessed with a lot of rain for the babies.
like I said, Things, *crossing fingers* !
Would like to see someone ask Gregory if he thinks Walter Cronkite would have teamed up with Nixon’s Haldeman for a song and dance duet at some Washington social soiree?
Some of the reviews at amazon say that there are a few factual errors. Hate to fill my head with bad info.
CBS Sunday Morning is doing a retro on him….someone whose name I didn’t catch said something to the effect, “All journalists today are following in his footsteps.” Dear Dog, if only!
I normally don’t go anywhere near that place; any chance those reviews might be “planted”/
“All journalists today are following in his footsteps” points out how today’s corporate media excels at myth making.
Good Morning, MM. Hope you are doing fine today.
Oh, my. Now, that’s an image. Do you think Gregory would get the point of that question?
Mornin’ Elliot and Firedogs -
someone was asking upthread if Cronkite had ever commented on the current state of media . . .
h/t the always fabulous Batocchio
Shorter Mark Sanford
I learned at C Street that we powerful people are always forgiven due to God’s grace, so I see my sins as a sign from God that I should stay governor.
If Obama does axe Summers and Geithner then watch the GOP rally around Helicopter Ben and say the economy is saved!
Because either they do that or Chicago School Economics gets shut down for 10 years.
Ben’s throw money at the banks plan was a Conservative alternative to the Great depression. For some reason getting people working and giving them Social Security was not popular with their crowd.
But if the GOP does not rally around Ben then our new guys will get all the credit for the recovery. That will give us a huge mandate for change.
Yep.
The whole cell structure of The Family creeps me out, who’s at the top of this pyramid scheme?
It is nice to know the house on C Street is now becoming a tourist attraction – teehee
I’m kind of surprised no one has put a sign out in front saying Hypocrite House.
And, isn’t it funny how so many people pretend God is telling them what they want to hear? (Like, George W and a whole bunch of others.) Oh, me included some days. *g*
“you had me at sandwich shop.” LOL these people are hilarious, and plenty mad and not shy about telling Mark where to put his “OpEd”. LOL
Where’s the Old Testament God when you need him?
Mark: I would have resigned if the Pharisees hadn’t found it convenient to have the Romans crucify some rabble rouser.
Or as Charles “Moses” Heston once said, “you’ll have to pry this governorship from my cold dead hands!”
ew -
There’s a long article in today’s wapoo about the cia stuff; haven’t had a chance to read it yet. If you have, does it contain anything worthy of a post on your part?
Sin equals failure God forgives all the ballot box not so much Mark staying forces the GOP to spend money defending what should be a shoe in.
The GOP is collecting cash because of the healthcare debate but thanks to Mark, Ensign etc they have to defend their former Presidential Contenders.
The GOP is going to have to go scrape the
bottomunder the barrel to find some new contenders. So you take that particular comment as being negative? I had real problems classifying that one.
Keynes was a British citizen and never a member of the FDR administration. Some members of Roosevelt’s “Brain Trust” endorsed Keynesian theories. Trial and error New Deal measures came to be increasingly Keynesian. Rexford Tugwell, Harry Hopkins, and others were particularly associated with deficit spending, pump priming, etc.. Hopkins, tired of hearing about economic effects “in the long run,” famously replied to the effect that, “people don’t eat in the long run.” Raymond Moley was most noted brain truster who parted ways and became an anti-New Deal Republican. John Kenneth Galbraith was younger rising star public servant who came to characterize American version of Keynesian theory during WWII and through Kennedy and Johnson Administrations….That’s rough and sketchy summary.
I think it is sarcasm, yes.
As if anything he says is not going to make things better.
Are you looking for some Smitin’? Ha! You’re funny this morning.
Don’t know but who came up with the plan to recruit a bunch of Southern Conservative Men who test well with the ladies?
Just what Family GOPer will admit that they were playing Star Search/ Real World for a GOP Bill Clinton?
Given Bill’s high negatives in the GOP if we get the MSM to cover that meme I see much Snark Potential.
Is someone on TV saying that? It would be nice if there’re some investigative people keeping an eye on the place but it’s a given they have a hidden entrance.
Sign: C-street Church and Brothel – one stop fun and salvation! Washingtons new red light district.
Here’s the link to the Book Salon for “The Family” if that’s any help.
Thank You for the education I always thought Keynes was an official adviser.
Him I think we will see history repeat on if Geithner and Summers leave.
Well, one stop shopping can save on the gas. You’re in good form too, this am.
Must go walk before it get’s too hot.
Only got to 80 here last night.
Thanks.
that would be a treat, but don’t hold your breath waiting for ANY talking head to cover it, in the end, they protect their own — no matter what network.
Good morning my good Millineryman.
another treat!!
I wonder does Mark’s state have the Death Penalty? Lets see if Mark is so forgiving then.
Heck I think death would be better than telling your wife mother of your 4 kids I had an affair and she is the love of my life.
Having to live and maybe have sex with someone who you know does not love you for the rest of your life who thinks about her face when he closes his eyes?
I hope they get a divorce.
Yes, sir. Last week, I heard one commentator mention that some of the debates over getting money immediately into hands of the public, versus long term, slower infrastructure projects like dam building, electrification, charactarized some of the debate between Harry Hopkins and Harold Ickies, within the FDR administation. FDR sort of refereed the debate, played one against the other, and did a fair (though imperfect) job of parcelling among programs and policies. It was all essentially pragmatic, rather than theoretical.
Off filming a new reality show for Bravo, The Real Kingdom of Heaven. /s
Do they have a six bedroom house or does the gov. have to spend his nights on the couch.
And in somewhat the same vein, I had hopes that Rachel might have a few words on the subject of buchanan Friday night but when it looked like the 9:00 hour was probably going to be all Cronkite, I didn’t try to stay awake.
Hmmm? a new GOP appeal to women voters they the immigrant girls are taking Our men. Then the GOP shows a picture of Mark with Maria under the headlines outsourcing adultery?
yes, wish I had the memory to tell you who said it tho.
Hopefully he has a room with a lock on the bulletproof door. His wife is loaded she can afford to have him removed professionally she could afford Tony Soprano himself and I doubt a jury would convict.
Mark should start ordering out for his meals.
Obama has to know everyone will be comparing him to FDR. He has to go further LEFT to win that comparison granted politically that might be impossible now but the way unemployment is going.
Either Obama goes further LEFT or the GOP will take us Right the great depression gave us FDR, Hitler and Stalin.
Oh and Neville Chamberlain if Obama starts getting his economic policy compared to Neville’s foreign policy its over.
What is the C-street message on eunochs?
Why would they have a message on eunochs if they were looking for a GOP conservative Fundi with Bill Clinton appeal to the ladies?
Ah I see who better to babysit the Family. My guess is the Message on Eunochs is Help Wanted!
Eunochs wanted to discretely Tazer GOP Presidential want to be’s when ever they arrange private meetings with women.
Must also keep their wives medicated but awake experience in the Bush WH a plus.
Degree from Libery University is a job requirement>
Wow, does David Gregory give McConnell an open forum to spew his Luntzian anti-healthcare reform talking points. The difference between Gregory “interviewing” Sebelius and Gregory “interviewing” McConnell is a crime, really.
Hope someday to see Jon Stewart cramer Gregory.
Gregory just cn’t see the difference between a negative funding finding on one part of the congressional plan for health care and all of the president’s still developing plan. If he did, he’d be on a program that had content.
