It’s not a surprise that a recent Rasmussen poll found that 45 percent of Americans want to cancel the rest of the stimulus spending. I agree.
He then went on MTP and said the same thing. So the White House took him up on it.
No fewer than four Cabinet secretaries wrote to Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer — also a Republican — to ask her if she agreed with Kyl that it was time to turn off the state’s stimulus spigot. “If you prefer to forfeit the money we are making available to your state, as Sen. Kyl suggests, please let me know,” wrote Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. For good measure, he attached a three-page addendum listing each of the Arizona projects paid for by the $521 million the state is getting.
And what happens when you smack bullies in the face? They cry like babies.
“The governor is hopeful that these federal Cabinet officials are not threatening to deny Arizona citizens the portion of federal stimulus funds to which they are entitled,” her spokesman said in a statement.
I guess we’re to assume that Kyl meant he wanted the stimulus cut off everywhere but Arizona. Just like Cantor. Just like Boehner.
How ’bout some cheese with that whine, Jon?
It’s unfortunate that President Obama and his administration seem unwilling to debate the merits of the stimulus bill and acknowledge its shortcomings. Instead, they have resorted to coordinated political attacks with the Democratic National Committee and the politicization of departments of government by using cabinet secretaries to issue thinly veiled threats to the Governor and the people of Arizona.
So which is it, Senator? You want to cancel the stimulus or don’t you?
Put up or shut up.

No kidding. I’m just delighted that they’re calling his bluff!
Bwahahahaha!
And Kyl
gleefullygrimly cemented his idjit reputation with his ridiculous, repetitive questioning of Judge Sotomayor.Threats? It just sounds to me like a good way of following up on the State’s Senator’s proposal. And of course, in passing, poinnting out his lies.
The appropriate time to debate the merits of the stimulus bill was, of course, before it was voted on; but at that time, like now, the Rethugs in Congress wanted to play the obstructionist bully game. Sorry, kids, you missed your chance to act like grownups. Now fuck off.
How about “put up AND shut up”, Senator? Shut the FUCK up, actually…
Shorter Kyl: That Obama Admin is just EEEE-vul to call my bluff. Da big meanies.
Anyone following the Sotomayor hearing has seen a spectacular display demonstrating that Republicans, including Kyl, really are dumber than pond mold.
Um, please don’t insult pond mold.
People keep saying that like it’s a surprise.
Some of my best friends are pond
scummold…Rick Perry is begging for money too.
“We want the money, but we don’t want to have to SAY so.”
Rick Perry.
Boner, Can’t (oh, the temptation) and Kyl, How about a…
Needs more funds to refurbish the mansion, does he? Governor Goodhair has clearly misunderstood the point of an economic stimulus.
Arizona and its 2 so-called senators remind me of a story from long ago.
Then the LORD said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.”
The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the LORD. Then Abraham approached him and said: “Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?”
The part of me that is judgemental and, sadly, vindictive would like to see Arizona made a public example of bad government, bad choices, and bad leadership.
But there are too many good people there who would suffer for the sins of those reprobates. I’d settle for ads run in that good state for a long time reminding all Arizonans of what kind of senators represent them.

At least Crist has been consistent on this one.
“We want the money, but we don’t want
to have to SAY soanyone telling us how to spend it.”Corrected it for ya, buddy !
“If you prefer to forfeit the money we are making available to your state, as Sen. Kyl suggests, please let me know,” wrote Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.
fuckin’ beautiful.
A fastball right under the chin.
“Wanna see another? Just step right back up to the plate.”
This is great aggressive action by the Admin. Now take it to the next step (Go for the jugular)… Debate them, whether they want to or not… and conclude we need more stimulus!
Excellent move by the WH. I’ve long wanted politicians who demand cuts to be asked what items that directly affect their own districts or states specifically they are willing to cut. It’s easy to be general about cuts. (It’s so easy that it is a standard Republic play.) It’s easy to shout about cuts that affect other states, but not yours.
The media is in a position to ask. It is sad and irresponsible that they never do ask.
Whitehouse is chairing now … as if Sessions needed to look any dumber.
Hey, Petro. I wonder if these clowns go home and watch themselves on C-Span thinking how great they were. If I were Graham, Coburn, Sessions or Kyl I’d be too ashamed to show my face on Capital Hill.
“
Dear Governor:
No one is threatening anyone. Recently, one of your Senators has been saying that the stimulus money, including that allotted to Arizona, should be cancelled. The Administration simply would like to know if you agree, and if you don’t, would you agree that your Senator should maybe shut the fuck up?
Back to the cesspool.
Namaste
Off on the business of the Queen. See all later.
Blow job
Shut the fuck up
Namaste SD !
What I’m sure these twerps will do is, run the hundreds of times they ask JSS the same question and splice her responses to show that she is an Activist Latina Vagina !
Another bluff bites the dust: Cowardly U.S. Army reservist Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook had his suit dismissed.
Republican LaHood at that.
Just one small demonstration of the value in 23-dimension underwater blinfolded upside down handcuffed chess. Oh, and at the same time exposing the DLCers as the BigMoney infiltrators they are isn’t bad either:

This, just a week after Obama himself provides cover by saying the same thing as Reid, and then his group OFA goes on offense. Sometimes, you just want to sit back and observe and learn. Some good tactics for future battles for all of us.
Being an AZ state worker we need that money! I want to keep my job.
And to Kyl’s defense, he is a complete fucking asshole.
Bet he’ll join NotJoeTheNotPlumberButDumber’s Tour …
(emptywheel’s doing the honors this afternoon, Sotomayor liveblog )
Another asshole who doesn’t consider a certified birth certificate good enough.
bwaaahaaahaaa indeed. and I’m with Eureka Springs above, go ahead, set up a debate on the, um, merits, call those bitches on that one too
I like the way the Obama administration shows a little spine when it comes to a fight like this. The difference between Obama and W’s bullying, though, is that at least in this case it’s not all about politics-there actually is a desire to put people to work and get some cash flowing in the economy.
Arizona’s pretty red…anyone believe that if W were still prez, the blue states would be seeing their stimulus cups overflowing? Yeah, right, Rove would have slowed that money down to a trickle.
Obama definitely learned a thing or two in Chicago. On the other hand, when the opposing team has people like Kyl, Graham, Boehner, Cantor, etc. etc, it’s not much of a fair fight.
Since the republics really have nothing to put up it would be nice if they would STFU! But I know they aren’t smart enough to realize a vast majority of Americans have caught on to their crap.
Party on Wayne….
His lawyer comes right out of the movie Chicago, doesn’t she?
Funny how I never EVER see it mentioned in any “news” report how BOTH Honolulu major newspapers in 1961 clearly state that Barack was born in Honolulu on August 4th.
http://whatreallyhappened.com/…..abirth.php
Would end this story (coupled with the certified birth cert and Hawaiin officals going on record saying it’s all right there!), so to keep serving as Reich Wing propaganda mills, all BigMedia must ignore this pesky little detail and not just keep this story going, but they’re now actually growing it.
We must bury BigMedia once and for all.
Kyl rhymes with vile. Or is it bile? Does it matter which? Perhaps someone can explain to me how you can be a GOP patriot and anti-American at the same time.
I hope this exchange gets some play in the AZ press (including the TV media). The important thing is to expose Kyle and his frat-boy country-club look-alikes for the boneheads they are.
More like this, please!
Meanwhile, back in Texas, their “Secessionist Gov. Rick Perry“, also wants the stimulus funds!
These guys really know how to talk out of both sides of their mouths!
actually, Perry uses another orifice
My wedding license is from Hawaii. It’s probably not good enough for the Major or most of the Republics either. Oh the treachery of those exotic ‘foreign’ locations!
The water in that state needs to be tested for lead content. That’s the only logical explanation for its bizarre Senate choices.
Thought they already had a debate on the merits before they passed the bill. I’m with SoDrag, shut the fuck up kyle.
Dood, don’t say orifice, mom left the window open.
What Perry is doing requesting a $170 million loan from the federal government makes sense to him because it doesn’t increase the burden on Texas taxpayers according to his 2009 alternate reality horoscope projections.
I guess the major and Taitz will either file with the 13th COA or slink back under their slimy rocks. I’m going with the former. They don’t have enough sense to do the latter. Idjit following idjit.
The Cowardly Major and his lawyer have probably attracted lots of wingnut support to keep things going. The court should have said “Major, you are not a Bush. You cannot simply pretend to serve.”
Senate choices! How about this is the state that first hired a used car salesman (Mecham) then a real estate developer (Symington)as governor. This state is just politically bass-ackward!
The Majors deployment was canceled because the Army wanted nothing to do with him after they found out about the suit. They can’t prosecute him for anything because he requested the deployment. Now the Army has to short notice somebody (which sucks) or do without till they can fill the slot. Birthers suck.
Everything I’ve heard about this screams set-up.
Obama was sworn in as President in January.
In May this Major “volunteers” for Afghanistan deployment
Then in June he suddenly is a CO because “Obama might not be native born?”
Total fucking bull shit piled way high and deep.
Maybe a Bush will step forward to fill that slot…
A used car salesman? You can’t be serious.
Now this is how you respond to the Wingnuts. How did Politico paraphrase it: A punch to the mouth.
“We want the money,
but we don’t want to have to SAY soanyone telling us how to spend itwe don’t want anybody to know.”Oh God, did I just read republicans are complaining about coordinated political attacks? Well, good! How do you like us now, motherfuckers?
This move was a thing of beauty..the tag line says all that needs to be said, especially about Jon Kyl…”And what happens when you smack bullies in the face? They cry like babies. “
No truer words have ever been spoken. Kyl and his obstructionist jerk pals Graham, Sessions, especially Cornyn and McSame need all the Karmic Bitch-Slapping they can endure – at least twice day….
