Sure yesterday’s Washington Post Op-Ed from Sarah Palin had some indications it involved her participation. It completely misunderstood the concept of Cap & Trade; it ignored the whole purpose of such legislation — fighting global warming; and it was in direct contradiction to what she has said in the past as McCain’s running mate. So it involved ignorance and deception.
But it also involved things that made me dubious of authorship. It involved words, formed into relatively coherent sentences which turned into paragraphs. In short, while it was illogical and false, it was relatively grammatically coherent.
And because of this I am dubious. I saw the last thing that Sarah Palin and her staff (the Na-Schnooks of the North) wrote, her resignation speech, and it had two hallmarks of Sarah Palin. It was incoherent and it was full of hypocrisy. The Op-Ed had only one of those things.
Look at her twitter page, she is in her 40s and obviously just discovered Bartlett’s Familiar Quotations. Next up, Roget’s. By 2016 she might be ready to try Strunk & White. Until then, she’s only qualified to write for a truly insane editorial page, like the Wall Street Journal.

Blowjob!
You didn’t expect her to chew bubblegum at the same time…? ;-)
princess palin had an editor dix her word salad
thas all
the ideas are dumb slogans
so ya know the wasilla drilla was the original author
And then what would be left?
Whoever taught English at Wasilla High School should be offered grief counseling.
Good morning, pups. It’s MoDo and Friedman today. MoDo, in “White Man’s Last Stand,” says a gaggle of Republican men afraid of extinction couldn’t root out any sign that Sonia Sotomayor has emotions that color her views on the law. The Moustache of Wisdom is in Kirkuk. In “Goodbye Iraq, and Good Luck” he says Iraqis know who they were, and they don’t always like it, but they still have not figured out whom they want to be as a country.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge for later, and I’ve got a selection of bagels with cream cheese. I heard the cheery news on the radio this morning that Georgia’s unemployment rate is now 10.1%. The only sectors that seem to be adding jobs are education and health care. Have a great day.
everyone knows I’m no palin apologist but a few things here;
just about everyone looks for an edit when they write an op piece for a major publication
she could definitely be the author of this piece and then have it proof read and I have to believe everyone does that
and just about everyone writes better then they speak, especially after a self edit and then after a professional edit
her problem is she hasn’t categorized the vocabulary folders in her head so when she opens the folder marked “politics” she just uploads those words in whatever order they were put there, when writing she could have that vocabulary folder re-organized quite easily, first by herself, then by staff, then by the professional at the friendly wall street journal, and then she would get to put on the finishing touch
here’s my real evaluation of whether or not she’s the author with my reasons why I believe it;
1) there is no fact checking and it contradicts her own self
well, that first reason is good enough
yes, she wrote it, got an edit, proof read for content and approved
ah, I see you beat me to my point at 6, you did it better with fewer words and were far more succinct, I owe you teh beverage
…obviously just discovered Bartlett’s Familiar Quotations.
what, she just found The West Wing re-runs?
oops, no, that was Jed Bartlet – not enough “t”’s.
You and freepatriot are right, she was given editorial help. But, having heard her speak her own word salad, I have to agree with TexasEllen who suggested grief counseling for the English teacher at Wasilla High.
Morning all. Waking up only to be confronted with the stupid is cruel.
Is Georgia trying to compete with Michigan in unemployment?
Waking up only to be confronted with the stupid is cruel.
hey man, just g’on back to bed. This is all just a bad dream.
Really.
Trust me.
I have read the oped a couple of times but so far I can not understand what the hell she is writing about. This part is a mite confusing.
Surely it is the private sector that reached into government coffers in an unprecedented manner. On the other hand maybe up is down and down is up in Alaska. I know night is day and day is night for long periods. I need another cup of tea and a bagel with cream cheese.
I need another cup of tea and a bagel with cream cheese.
just make sure it’s not *strawberry* cream cheese.
I’ve been informed by People Who Know Such Things that using strawberry cream cheese is some kind of Bagel Sacrilege.
I agree that she
soundsreads suspiciously coherent in that editorial. Maybe it’s because her former speechwriter (3:01) is no longer involved.Sure, sure, some people in comments at that Youtube link claim it’s a comedy skit, but I think it’s for reals, and I’m sticking to that.
Just Lox. The strawberry season has come to a close here. The blueberries are just starting so I have moved the scarecrow to protect them.
Note to white male Republicans spouting off on the teevee. A woman of Hispanic descent would be a “wise Latina” not a “wise Lah-Teen-Oh.” Jeebus. Just read what she wrote, fer cryin out loud. Stop proving the point that you’re all a bunch of insensitive racists. /rant.
(Morning, all!)
Stop proving the point that you’re all a bunch of insensitive racists.
hey now – I’m enjoying the hell outta that part.
mornin’, sue.
Thanks, Marion. Great bagels, btw!
The Sotomayor hearings are a sandbox in which MoDo can play nicely, and today she does have some good ones…
and…
…plus this bit of latter-day wisdom…
Well, yeah. I guess I am, too.
It’s just such a grating sound while they’re flushing themselves down the commode!
Sarah Palin is the laughing stock of the American Taliban and this is why she’s been pushed by the A.T. to the front of the line!
UPDATE: Sen. Susan Collins continue to fake us out. She wore a skirt and pumps to play softball in because she doesn’t want us to think, “Is she a lesbian? She looks awfully manish today in those pants!”:

Probably EPU’d, but Media Matters has a great piece about Sarah Palin prominently featuring “our own” Philip Munger/ET!
Saradise Lost: How Alaska bloggers dethroned Sarah Palin
WaPo is rapidly becoming “a truly insane editorial page”.
You’ve hit the nail on the head, i believe!
Readers flogged WaPost editors for firing Dan Froomkin, and promised to quit patronizing the Post.
Ever since being exposed and criticized by everyone else, the Post has published what looks sort of like apologies of Post publisher, newsroom, and marketing execs for ethical misunderstandings, oversights, and lapses.
Last week the Post’s OmbudsAndy covered the declining state of copyediting services at the Post…the impact of reducing the number of copyediters and the resulting reduction in quality of articles in the Post.
The only missing regretful voice has been Fred Hiatt himself, and now he’s come through…he offers his remaining neocon readers a well edited Sarah Palin.
Why, it appears the post really may be serious about rehabilitating it’s image!
…sigh.
You can at least conclude one thing from her farrago of misunderstanding: she must have written it herself. Most op-eds by politicians are done by their speech writers.
Sarah Palin comes to politics with total commitment to superstitious beliefs that are incoherent and full of hypocrisy, so it is hardly surprising.
The private sector didn’t take money, money was given, sometime nearly forced upon the private sector. Sure some were more willing receivers than others but the decision to do so was solely in the hands of our elected and appointed officials, who swore to do what is best for the country?? yep.
I do have to agree that this is close but not as bad as the federal government’s reach into the private sector under FDR in the great Depression. The great point can be made though that all that government intervention sure didn’t help anything, but it did put a lot of people out of business and prolong the depression. I don’t think it will be that bad this time, I surely hope it isn’t
The OpEd was not edited, it had to have been written or re written.
Find out who this “editor” works for and you will see who is behind Palin.
Sarah Palin, stupid or ignorant?
I don’t know, and I don’t care.
dear sad4merica:
you’ve got your talking points upside-down. according to the wingnut gospel,
1. FDR caused the great depression.
2. all those banks that went out of business under the hoover admin, that was FDR’s fault, too. just like last fall’s bank failures are the fault of obama.
3. reducing federal spending at the urging of the republicans in ‘37 of course had nothing to do with prolonging the depression.
keep that weak sh*t outta here.
This from kinseygirl. In other words, Simple Sarah is stealing quotes from Ashton Kutcher tweets, without attribution, as if she heard Aristotle say it herself.
Also featured on something called Knotty Musings. I cannot find the original, and suspect it is just another old Greek myth, like Perseus and them. You ’spose it was created by Ashton Kutcher? Somebody spot the origins of this quote; I have to go up into the hills right now.
Be back.
No hoover put through tariffs on imports from other countries and they retaliated in kind. it stifled growth and isolated countries to their own. FDR then came in and said that the rich had too much money and he was a champion on the working class and used the power of the government to get in and set wages and pay and fix the prices and production of many many things. We are doing some of those things now, which is scary. I read and research to come up with hypothesizes, not listen to the talking heads especially the ones in washington trying to get elected again! A lot of the spending FDR did was crap and didn’t help but actually hurt. Can you spend your child into prosperity???? Nope you need to show them the pitfall and potential in life and then show them a path to take advantage of the potential out there to have a good life. Government can’t spend us better, just make opportunities abound. The government spending more and more and they get that money from taxing the people does not help all the people. More money individuals have the better.
Nah; she wrote it herself. She couldn’t get through two paragraphs without complaining about the evil media.
In her op-ed. In the Washington Post.
You can’t fake that level of entitlement.
Quote: “read and research to come up with hypothesizes, not listen to the talking heads especially the ones in washington trying to get elected again! Apparently, you have limited your research to the fiction of Amity Shales!
