  • The WaPost will let anyone in these days.
  • From people like Sessions and Cornyn? Not.
  • Meet the new Surgeon General.
  • Or, we could scrap the whole bipartisan deal.
  • KBH vs. The Secessionist-in-Chief.
  • Not enough "Real Americans" in America.
  • EW has more on the blowjob.
  • You’ll be missed, Hilzoy.

There is no way, no how, that Palin wrote that Op-Ed.

That synaptic stroke of a speech she gave on July 3rd was written by she and her lackies, the Na-Schnooks of the North if you will.

Look at her Twitter Page, the woman JUST discovered Bartlett’s Familiar Quotations for crying out loud.

Somebody guessed Kristol wrote it for her signature and I wouldn’t doubt it.

Does the boss know you’re putting down enhanced blondness? I know some intelligent blondes personally.
Thanks for the Hilzoy link. I especially enjoyed reading
“to listen to people I disagreed with, to engage with them, and to try to show that it was possible to care deeply about politics without hating your opponents. Being civil doesn’t mean you’re lukewarm, and being committed to your principles doesn’t mean you have to be hateful.”

Odd. I found myself actually missing Joe this morning. I rarely agree with him, but he’s at least logical in moderating the talking heads.

That whole episode embodied the absurdity of even attempting rational discussion on serious matters with fact- and logic-free right wingers. Arguing with pigs. (No offense to pigs.)

Saw the lead to a Bobo blog piece on ‘what makes a ruling class’ or something of the sort this morning, but couldn’t bring myself to read it. The title says it all. The Villagers regard themselves as the Ruling Class. For a long time, they didn’t have the guts to come out and actually say it, but now that they are threatened by the hoi polloi, they are forced to take a stand, just like the Southerners against the ‘uppity ni**ers.’ The more you listen and watch these people, the more you see the plutocracy that Krugman predicted was coming shortly before the first Bush election.

All we need to know about The Ruling Class:

Lady Claire Gurney: “How do you know you’re God?”

Jack Arnold Alexander Tancred Gurney, 14th Earl of Gurney: “Simple. When I pray to Him, I find I am talking to myself.”

Two of the topics this morning, Marcy’s comment and Hilzoy’s statement, refer to points that caused high’s and lows in my own thinking about the country. During the period Marcy talks about, despite the fact that the Republicans and the talking heads did everything they could do to overthrow an election based on a blowjob, polls kept revealing that the electorate understood and wasn’t buying. It gave me great reassurance in democracy.

What Hilzoy talks about, the election and lemming-like rush to war and re-election of George Bush almost completely erased that reassurance in democracy. I hope Hilzoy’s right, that the country isn’t crazy anymore, but I remain wary. We’ve shown a capacity to go crazy on a recurrent basis.

Crosstimbers, bear in mind that the information provided to the electorate prior to the 2004 election was deliberately skewed from reality. The “lemming-like” rush was based on the faulty information that was made available. Now that there is a mistrust of the MSM and better information is reaching larger numbers, democracy is indeed again on better footing.

Good grief…did the headline about how pathetic the WaPost has become HAVE to link directly to the offending editorial? I hate to give them the satisfaction of ANY more hits…especially to trash such as that. Since you already took me there, i glanced at the comments…over 2700! They fire Froomkin, lose all sorts of principled readers…and then get 2700 gratuitous visits for PALIN?

Please…i come here because it’s a respectful place to read and reflect…don’t make me go back there to see the train wreck!
