I love right-wingers coming up with "stories" about the random Canadian who had to wait in line to get their flu-shot.
Like Americans never have to wait in a line for health care.
Oh, one other thing about Canada. They LOVE their health care system.
Who’s the greatest Canadian of all time to — y’know — Canadians?
He’s the man responsible for Canada "Socialized" medical system.
When Americans had the same time of contest, we proved ourselves idiots — did we choose Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, Martin Luther King, Jonas Salk, Thomas Edison, Susan B. Anthony, Eisenhower? No. The poll had Reagan number one.
I credit the extra 10-yards on the football fields…or the mullet.

Is this a trick question? Wouldn’t that be Petrocelli?
Barack Obama editorial in WaPo.
The voters spoke in November and the mullets lost in the first fair fight in 8 years. I hate to say it, but I’m full of disgust this late evening here on the west side of town about Cheney’s murder squads.
Honestly, how does he sleep at night. His wife, his daughters, does all that money and power make it OK for them? What’s the payoff? I just don’t get it. I don’t buy that they truly thought they were protecting America. As Jake Gittes said in “Chinatown”, how much better can you eat?
The now all-to-obvious spewing of hatred of people of color we are seeing – I just don’t get it at all. OK, they look different, darker, it’s not what you see everyday in your family, but shit! Haven’t those haters ever had a co-worker of a different color, religion or ethnic background? Haven’t they ever made a friend?
Sorry to spew, but I am so ashamed of these people I could spit blood in their faces. I’m ashamed of my country.
People like the Cheneys and bigots are missing a piece of humanity most people possess. It seems a lot of them are actually sociopaths – something wrong with them – a kind of criminal personality.
I feel good that we can stick together here online, which will be the great savior of our beautiful country and hopefully the world. Reading wise words and great snark, lurking, occasionally posting, gives me such a good feeling about humanity, a feeling that my small voice and my great caring about the fate of each human being on the planet will be some force for good when I stand with you all.
God bless us every one!
All well and good, but how many Stanley Cups did Tommy Douglas win? None, I think.
Good morning, pups. It’s Douthat and Krugman today. Asshat addresses “The Audacity of the Pope,” and says for liberals and conservatives alike, the pope’s “Caritas in Veritate” is an invitation to think anew about their alliances and litmus tests. Prof. Krugman says we are “Boiling the Frog,” and that it’s difficult to get people to do what it takes to head off a catastrophe foretold. And now, both the economic and the environmental frogs are sitting still while the water gets hotter.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, the biscuits are out of the oven, and the cold drinks are in the fridge for later. I’m having a bit of trouble getting it in gear this morning, so maybe a second cup of tea will help. Have a great day.
Let’s see now, if the assassination squads were really successful in getting terrorists they would have shot each other and would have zapped chaynee first.
It is way beyond time to put chaynee, addington, yoo, AGAG and all the other asshats in the dock to answer for their crimes.
reagan’s presidency probably goes down as even worse the bush’s
Like Americans never have to wait in a line for health care.
I hate waiting for my botox injections.
But unless I actually say something, no one can really tell.
And nixon was worse than all of them
Reagan’s presidency was bad for the middle class and the unions and the poor. But,imho, the Bush presidency will be known as the worst ever. He bankrupted us, shredded our constitution, created turmoil in the world, broke countless laws, divided the nation, hurt our schools etc. He destroyed our very soul.
Douthat…addresses “The Audacity of the
PopeDope,”…Isn’t he a little young to be doing auto-biographical pieces already?
lol.
I’ve asked this before and got a couple of positive replies. Has anyone seen a positive result of the stimulus money? So far I’ve heard of a few teachers being rehired and my own niece getting a teaching job after ‘money was found’ to hire another teacher. Anyone else see any improvement? Anything other than teaching?
Other than Goldman-Sachs, obviously.
Enjoyed your rant, twasntme.
What I want from our healthcare system is for (1)cover everybody (2)have the freeking med bills get actually paid.
Mornin’, pups -
So, is this gonna be the 24/7 Sotomayor week? Think I’m gonna take a break from listening to hearings……the thugs will do their best to make them a total misery and Franken is the only one I’d really like to catch.
really, the first answer should be;
“errrr…last flu season most americans had to wait so long for the flu shot you could only get one if you were elderly or a high risk, so what the hell is your point?”
Dick Cheney the morning of 9/11 formed his own Shadow Government complete with his own death squad and plenty of money stolen from the American taxpayer. I bet he has enough money and militia men at his disposal right now that he could form his own country and will most likely be using them to drop nukes on our country in the upcoming months.
The whole CIA/Cheney/Lie to Congress brouhaha? Not to worry, Mika says it’s just politics. And Pat Buchanon says it will hurt the Dems cuz they will be viewed as soft on national defense.
Had a touch of something nasty last August. Went to the nearest emergency room. Turned out I had pneumonia. Got bloodwork, an xray, a diagnosis and a prescription. Cost me nothing thanks to OHIP. I think I was in the waiting room for 10 minutes.
The whisper of a hint of the idea of having to pay for needed medical treatment should be an outrage. Canuckistan is a dumbass place in some ways, but you poor Yanks are living in a toxic bubble filled with wingnut off-gasses. How about a change you can survive with?
Actually yes. The Portsmouth Navy Yard is hiring people to do work that was scheduled but put on hold. Some road projects that were on hold are now being put into action. Now whether this is actual Bama Bucks or wishful thinking I do not know. LOcal building, painting etc contractors around here are slowly getting back to work. So yes, I think that it is working here.
Anecdote. A friend of mine was laid off and desperate for health care has come under the new Cobra rules meaning that his premiums are $350 month as opposed to $1500 ( I think I have those figures correct). What is funny is that his wife is a right wing nutfuck so now I ask her what she feels about socialized medicine for herself and her two children?
The killing of Paul Wellstone, orchestrated the anthrax attacks, killed the DC Madam to silence her, killed Michael Connell to silence him, and others I believe were murdered via Cheney’s death squads to silence them. Just a guess but it seems plausible to me.
Mika is back from vacation in the south of France, but she still wants us to know that she and Sarah Palin represent the non-elitist-average-commoner of America! See? For this reason, I believe everything Mika says because she’s honest. Spit.
Is Obama planning to stay home for awhile? He’s beginning to tick me off. Stay home, Mr. President, and work on our problems.
and what is the rightwing nutfxxk’s response to your question about socialized medicine? So many Americans are terminally ignorant.
She’s got the stupidity to say she spoke to a former CIA guy who told her there’s nothing to worry about. Um, Mika, the whole point is that they lie.
The one place where I don’t see improvement is in manufacturing. Of course, I’m just talking personal observation but those I know who
havehad manufacturing jobs are hurting.Amusingly she says that as
theyher husband has been gainfully employed and paying taxes all these years it is about time they got something back. Explaining that that is exactly what socialism is means nada to her. Her head is not only in the sand.Yup. Also the auto industry, my friend who now is on socialized medicine, is/was in the auto business and his job prospects are pretty bleak. Tourism business around here has gone to hell in a handbasket though a lot of that has to do with the crappy weather. Summer jobs for students, waitressing and such like, have all but vanished. No idea what the students are going to do as they rely on summer jobs to keep their heads above water.
I have seen two big road construction projects with signs identifying them as a project of the stimulus money.
That’s silly.
Thanks for remembering Paul Wellstone.

You need to read this to cheer yourself up.

Yes, I agree. It was far more likely to have been the bushies as they are more familiar with small plane crashes.
Someone suggested that the implosion of so many potential repub presidential candidates is the work of pappy Bush paving the way for Jeb.
Must go. See all later.
I was addressing the “he should stay home” comment. Like there is something he can’t do in the flying White House. You know, I heard they actually have the world wide internet on that there plane!
Sounds entirely plausible.
That plane is truly amazing. I saw a documentary about AF1 on some tv channel and was stunned at the amount of space without all the
cattlepassenger seats in place. I want me one of them planes.Well, you haven’t experienced the ultimate until you’ve been told that it is proof that God proves, if you have faith.
But you don’t get to watch Fox News for an hour or so and restrain yourself from reacting to the resulting dumb opinions other patients feel free to voice in the waiting room. Nor do you get to go on to a cubicle and steam alone for another half hour over the crap you just heard. Those are the things we can’t do without down here.
Correction: God proves = “God provides”
Thanks. ;-) I miss the days of Paul Wellstone popping a vein in his forehead screaming about the Iraq invasion! He was a force and Dick Cheney had to silence the truth like he always does.
Here’s a video of Canadians responding to US pro-insurance sector swiftboating ads, with text comments providing dialog between Canadians and Yanks re health care.
Well, one of the problems he was left was the trashing of anything remotely resembling diplomacy, so he’s continuing to shovel the shit left behind by W.
Me, too. All except Wellstone, which I think was an honest accident, like the plane that went down near Buffalo last winter.
You could have added the biological weapons expert in England, who was found dead with his wrists slit (but none of his fingerprints on the knife that did it) shortly after the invasion of Iraq.
knut
Hope you’re still checking in. You need to review this to to see if your opinion about it being an honest accident still holds. Like 9/11, his plane crash was a bit TOO convenient for a certain set of unnamed creeps.
Solai,
My local library has been in the twilight zone without improvement for over a decade. One resident told me that after they moved to the area, they took their children to the library and after a couple of visits, the children asked the parents to not make them go there anymore. I’ve been trying for a couple of years to promote, encourage, and threaten whatever was needed to get us under the local library district’s management. That happened in April.
Nearly half the collection needed to go because of age AND lack of use, so we could get new material in. With a very limited staff, one district manager, two FTEs and two PTEs, this was going to be a big problem. Stepping into the picture was “Stimulus Money”. The new district-hired manager, a professional librarian, was able to hire three people for over the summer with money funneled through the state library from the stimulus package. They should finish up cleaning the collection by the end of August, about the time the summer funding ends. Perfect timing.
My husband’s company has bid on some Forest Service jobs under the stimulus umbrella. One was poorly done. They let the winning bidder change the specifications, so instead of sending the wood to a local US mill, the winning bidder was going to send it to Canada. Nothing against Canadians, mind you, but I want my taxpayer money going towards American jobs.
Finally, the main North/South highway is supposed to be re-paved this summer, but other than survey work, nothing has started.
Couple years back people were lining up in the USA to get flu shots. My 84-year-old mom had to wait for hours. People were taking the ferry from Washington State to go to Victoria, Canada to get them. Why? Because when I went to get mine I just walked over to the local London Drug store and was in and out in 3 minutes. I live in Victoria.
