Hope-n-Change©!
Hi nahant, I’m melting, but fine thanks. How are you this evening?
Doing great! Sorry you are melting! As you are well aware the Bay Area’s AC kicked in and it is down in the low 60’s already!! Sure wish I could waft some of this ocean air your way…
Hey ES and everyone. I just now finished watching Bill Moyers and am shaken even though I sort of knew everything that came out (about the healthcare industry). Damn those people!!!
Hiya ES, pups!
Been a helluva week in Wasilla Alaska. I’m missing some GREAT fishing, as we try to decipher bullshit spreadsheets and I continue the saga of painting my entire house.
Fuckery.
We had a wonderful cool 10 day reprieve .. I can’t complain to much. Yet. /s
Oh good, I tivo’d it.. last couple of weeks missed the mark, imo. Glad he’s back on fire… in a Moyers way.
Today is ruff day but I am going for the humor….
Oh man… the roe! Beautiful, ET. Yer killin’ me again. And I thank you..)
I mentioned in a thread here last week the Bushco appointees, including Regent College Alums, are dtill in place. Why new presidents always bring in their own. Obama likes the ones who voted for Bush. What is up with that.
707!
Tonight’s late show (second song) is a bus ride just for you katymine..)
Has he replaced any Bush appointed US Atty’s? I thought all new presidents were expected to do so? And even if not, I sure expected the compromiser to go half way, at least.
Here is more coverage of the same topic:
Those assholes. They were sitting in a bar after hours plotting how to “get her back.”
HI ES et al.
Hey Nahant have you tried milk thistle for your liver therapy. Athletes that have damaged their liver from chemicals use it.
Sounds good. Must check out more Sara Tavares.
And so it goes on and on and on and on and on.
What language are your tears? [ Michael Franti ]
Link the regent alums are still employed why they can’t recall anything?
Rove’s hook in the Pbama administration, how conveniet. Shadow government. How are you?
we are under a heat warning 111-113 this weekend….. will be 111 degrees all next week….
Nice sounds ES lot of talent never seen bacause of big corporation rule.
and it was completely a family meeting, Alabama-style.
It’s not on itunes. I want to buy that song.
If he remedied anything, he could be accused of “partisanship.” So, post-partisan = post-accountability.
‘Tis why we are here…) How are you healing, bb? Infection under control I hope?
Ok I fail to see any logic behind this unless Obama wants trouble for him self later on.
How is the solar house working?
thx for that link. wailing in the comments like
“WHERE THE F IS THE CHANGE WE VOTED FOR?”
but mostly the usual disgruntlement.
Elmore says that Joe Arpio is not a pretty thing in HDTV….ya can see the dandruff on his coat….
Getting signatures on my cast. So having a little fun with the recovery. Started my own light weight therapy program.Lots of chores to do. That keeps the limbs stretching.

U.S.: No Grounds to Probe Afghan War Crimes
Friday, July 10, 2009 9:25 PM
WASHINGTON — Obama administration officials said Friday they had no grounds to investigate the 2001 deaths of Taliban prisoners of war who human rights groups allege were killed by U.S.-backed forces.

The anti biotics are working and I quit caffiene to help out. Thank you for asking. Got my teeth cleaned and starting a new oral hygiene regime to floss and high pressure blast the bacteria away. Located a product called ORAMD on the net for keeping the bac under control and reversing pockets. So used some tea tree oil to bush with tonight. Always up for an experiment but did not buy their oil yet.
I recommend watching this and then reading this masterpiece by Krugman.
Thanks for the votes, Suckers.
get on the party bus, y’all!
(nice find, ES)
I have something on my mind tonight. It has to do with the appropriateness of mentioning that our country is involved in 2 active wars of choice and killing families in Pakistan. Also.
I’m getting more overt Don’t Rock My Boat messages from people I would normally respect in my reminders to them that We Have Our Wars. A narcissistic turn inward and it scares me. The Good Americans ?.
Arpio is being investigated by Rep Conyers and the DOJ….and now it looks like he and the former Gov will be locking horns about civil rights violations
Great Obama said he would do nothing that gives the World Court a free hand and After Obama leaves Afghanistan and he will leave just how long before a new Afghan Government decides to cooperate in exchange for cash (secret cash UN aid?)
This will not look good for Obama heck if we already know these facts I wonder what the World Court knows? There are millions of Afghan refugees in plenty of countries hostile to us who know that if they talk they can get a free ticket out of those camps.
Lots of UN workers giving aid at those camps know who to call.
Good
Link goes to a kos diary, not krugman, fyi.

Hope ya don’t mind ES.. it is your post after all
Meetup here in Redwood City Ca July 25th!! Ya can reach me via facebook or nahanter at da g mail thingy… if ya can do show up so you can put a face with all those great commenters here at the Lake!!
Good night have a nice weekend and keep those whip tools workin.
But you have to realize that these are good wars led by a good president for good reasons. Barack Obama is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being ever to have lived.
Here in AR this week we had a fellow go nuts, kidnap someone, steal a few cars in attempt to make a getaway…and went out in a shooting spree.
Intending to make a harsh point… I said in a local blog that the dead dude should have joined the military where he would be a hero or at least not in trouble… with a paycheck ta boot for doing the same thing.
Man the response was venomous to put it mildly. The disconnect could not have been more clear. Nobody was half as upset about the crazy guy or the truth I was mentioning about all of us and our wars. They just wanted to whip the daylights out of a truth teller.
I guess if it’s not on television news… it’s just not happening at all.
amusing to try to gauge exasperation levels over at Kos.
I’m rather a cynic, and I think it is just some cathartic routine they do, they will always vote for and support Democrats, no matter what, and Obama and his crew will really push the limits of ‘no matter what.’
for example: the President announces at the G8:
now, we know you don’t roll out the propaganda for a new war in the summer, but look for much more of this in September.
Oops! That Krugman link should have been: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07…..odayspaper
I’m resigned to seeing Palin fade

she’ll have more time to jog.
I’ll have more time for the things
that actually are
really fucking important.
Not that I have that issue …… going to bed….. Nite everyone
Of course not… just wish I could make it..)
Wow. Good for you. It’ll give them something to think about.
Not at all! just wish i could be there…)
We have a few seriously affected PTSD young men in our town, dangerous to themselves and others. The whole town averts their eyes. Not polite.
Thing about it, I read that blog daily, and I would definitely call it a moderate Dem crowd. Considering that reaction from that particular crowd… we have a terribly long way to go. But, yes..I was very glad i said what i did.
Palin fade; Paid ‘n fail
Me to Es would be great if you could… Maybe next time??
My first thought when I read the news story mentioned above was I wonder if he was a young vet?
Maybe.. I am aiming for next years netroots nation. (wherever it’s supposed to be)

When did it become all the rage to unquestioningly laud a president?
People get so invested in a president, you’d think you were maligning their favorite grandchild or something. Like if we say Obama’s not doing this or that and we fully expected him to, people have a shit fit…why? They think it’s magic, that our complaining will reach the heavens and make bad things happen?
We voted, we get to express our opinions. That’s America.
check’s in the mail
Early tonight.
G’nite, all.
the whackjob who went on a rampage just needed a few guys in crisp uniforms with medals to hold a press conference and talk about ‘the mission’ and ‘rules of engagement’ and promise a thorough investigation, and maybe suggest that the cops staged the whole thing, and of course state that every victim was a ‘terrorist’ who was acting suspiciously, and therefore attacked in self defense.
somehwat OT, but deepe, the dire but indespensible Arthur Silber on the reaction you encountered:
Good night, all. I’m actually bringing produce to our local ” farmer’s market” tomorrow. I’m not used to selling my produce so this is the first time. …. Please don’t let me equate money and gardening because I want to support the community forum…. No hoes !!
Barack Obama is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being ever to have lived.
No hoes !!
hope you rake it in.
Yes. After the police abuse , the ambulance ride is $1000 for 3 miles. Welcome home, sons.
Nice prep for framing the near future. I hope the Admin takes it to heart this time.
We need some massive broadband, public transit, green grid building projects. Something tangible for all to see and hopefully feel good about….with investment return lasting decades or more.
Nice… thanks.

Good night firedogs.
Evening late, late, late pups..
Drat. I missed ES.
Okay, I’m a person with a curious mind. And yet, timid to present this theory. Has anyone heard of Alfred Webre and his quest to stop the lunar bombings that are scheduled for Oct. 9. 2009?
Exopolitics.com ? He did an interview with Thom Hartman recently. Check it out.
I’m a child of the the Apollo era. The idea of an alen base on the dark side of the moon is no weirder to me than other theories.
Just saying.
Hi, ES
Hi, Pups.
Way behind here tonight, but I’m caught up thru #73.
FunnyWheelieDiva
Haven’t heard of that, but I’m open to all of that.
My question is who is bombing moons and why?
Hey, Sunny and Openhope.
Night Nahant and ES.
Just my luck, getting here just as the party’s winding down.
FunnyWheelieDiva
Hi Funny D!
Open Hope, if you’re still here. What produce are you taking to the market?
Hi FWDiva, Sunny, everyone. I am too sleepy to keep up tonight.
S’up, sunny?
Hi, Margot!
Lots to keep up with today, ma’am!
Emptywheel was on fire today.
FWDiva
Who are the ones having “shit fits?” Really.
I spent the 1990s feeling like a leper around my DemocratIC friends because of my criticisms of Bill Clinton as he sold out America. I was particularly livid when the Phil Gramm repeal of Glass-Steagall was signed by Clinton, and I was loudly proclaiming it would lead to what we’re dealing with today.
Now, we have a President enacting, yes actually enacting, some of the most Liberal reform I’ve ever seen in my lifetime, and so many of these same people are completely ignoring these incredibly positive Changes, and acting like Obama is charlatan. Nobody is suggesting he can’t be criticized.
The problem arises when we’re on the verge of perhaps the biggest changes to our entire system we’ll ever see in our lifetimes, and Obama will need to get every bit of support he can get as he tries to marshal these through the Clinton Dems who are threatening to block even the water-down versions. Instead, because of so much ignoring of the positives and CONSTANT harping on the negatives by so much of the Liberal media sources, his support seems to be slipping among his natural constituency.
Because of what he’s done in life, what he’s already accomplished as President, and especially what he consistently says he wants to get done, I feel he’s earned the benefit of the doubt so far. If he starts championing similar things as Bill Clinton did, I’ll be turning on Obama. I gave my benefit of the doubt to Bill Clinton for two years. Obama did more in the first 100 days that got me excited than Clinton did in 8 years.
Saying he’s a BigMoney bought and paid for stooge is demonstrably false, and is not going to help in this crunchtime we’re in RIGHT NOW. In fact, it’s hurting the public option/single-payer movement, of which I’ve worked on my entire adult life.
Our fire needs to be focused on the real enemy here. The current Congressional Repubs have proven they’re pointless. The Clinton/DLC Dems are the only thing standing in our way. Not Obama.
The good old US of A. To create a crater deep enough to get water and soil samples. Apparently a big ass bomb. Supposedly, there are many people, astronauts, NSA, Nasa, soviet scientists who say that there’s an alien base on the dark side of the moon that they firdt found in the 60’s.
The focus of Exopolitics and company is to expose sightings and further explore the issue.
Yeah, I know…..but I’ve seen weird events 3 times in my life. And there was NO way that our beloved military could do those fucking maneuvers ! No truth will out.
Brain candy………I like pondering this stuff in the garden. Not obsessively. Kind of like deciding on a beet green salad I’m going to make and dump on my friends because I’ve got so many fucking beet greens. Just thinking…………………..
Thinking about hitting the farmers mkt in about 3 hrs – if I don’t nod off.
Eeep. Sounds early to me, even for east coast time.
Don’t be nodding off behind the wheel, mon!
FWDiva
The point of Alfred Webre is trying to make: It’s against multiple treaties to BOMB the moon. You apparently can’t just go BOMB the moon because you can. Unless USA wants to bomb? Then it’s all good and decent and for the common good. Also.
The rocket scientists [ some] are worried it will be bad protocal on the moon.
I didn’t know this stuff last week. So, there you are. You betcha. Also.
For me, the highlight of Bill Moyers tonight was when I realized that the health insurance companies refer to the money that they actually pay for healthcare as “medical losses.” Well, yes, of course. They do see all money that they collect as theirs and, from that perspective, of course, whatever they have to pay out is a “loss” to them. But couldn’t they call it something more constructive, e.g., “cost of doing business,” or “customer enhancement,” or “utility rendered”?
I’m a cherokee purple tomato junkie needing a fix.
Fascinating and believable. We’re probably the only species in the universe who is vain enough to think we are alone, and have no problem attacking anything anywhere.
http://www.examiner.com/x-2912…..ilizations
I thought it was an incredible piece of journalism
His commentary at the end needs to be brought forward. As it will be.
Bill Moyers, I salute you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good point. In a sense those payments are their product. Unless they consider an illusion of coverage to be their product.
I lost a few hours in the crop circle patterns. It is something to think about.
And more interesting than most stuff !!
There is a great national overnight radio show called “Coast to Coast AM with George Noory” that you’ll become addicted to, openhope.”
In some markets it’s found on the ultra right thug stations, but don’t let that throw you. In SF, its for 3 hours and then they repeat it until 5am.
Oh, speaking of aliens…I’ve been calling all congress/Public servants on the Whip it list this week. I’ve had to explain to the majority of young staffers what a “trigger” option is. They’ve been very responsive and open. Just pathetically uninformed.
But it’s all good. I learned a bunch of ‘em.!
Fuck. How can they not know these issues? They’re the firewall between us and our representation in government and they don’t know the concept of a trigger during these debates on health care?
here’s their website. George Noory is an excellent broadcaster
http://www.coasttocoastam.com/
Oooh, have one for me.
I’ve got a very robust basil plant on my patio!
FWDiva
Hmmm. I’m thinking they consider their returns to investors to be their product.
Dis. Gusting.
This is why a robust public option IS the compromise position…since the powers that be have left single-payer off the table.
FWDiva
I’ll try and find it . Thanks.
I’m not a conspiracy theorist. I’m an applied science person. Follow the facts and theories be damned.
One I called pretended he didn’t know about the particular bill (war funding). After I called him on it, he admitted some knowledge, but said he didn’t know how the rep (Miller) was voting. I took that as a bad omen. And that’s how it turned out.
Perhaps staffers are interested in politics, not policy :-(
that’s why I think you’ll like it. He gets great guests,
They don’t think that way. It’s like credit card companies that call people like me “Deadbeats” because they can’t make any money off me. That is their truth.
Well. I’m going to call it a night. I’ve had insomnia the last few nights and indulged in spiral dark thoughts. Not fun.
Tonight I’m going to count sheep and give each one a face…Boehner,Mitchell,Gonzales[ newly employed] Bachman, Palin, etc. It kind of worries me that I actually can conjure up the face that goes with the name. I’m going to visualize sending each one over the cliff.
Can’t hurt.
Good night, sweet dreams.
Sleep well, openhope.
Yes. That compromise would have been obvious if mention of single-payer had been permitted. Isn’t there an adage to the effect of he who defines the issue controls the outcome?
A really nasty tax- and revenue-cutting initiative seems likely to make the Washington State ballot this fall. It’s an off year. It may pass.
Damnit, if I wanted to live in Mississippi, I’d have moved to Mississippi!
Moyers had another great program last night with a health insurance whistleblower. Too bad the whole country couldn’t have seen it but then the corporate media is better served by keeping the people ignorant and in a stupor.
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins and Herbert today. Ms. Collins, in “What Happened in Vegas,” says the John Ensign sex scandal has become even more fascinating because every social conservative in Washington seems to have been involved. Mr. Herbert, in “The Human Equation,” says the crisis staring America in its face and threatening to bring it to its knees is unemployment.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got French toast made with challah. The cold drinks are in the fridge for later, and I’m headed out to have another cup of tea in the garden. It’s a lovely morning here, 68° and a soft breeze. I’m going to enjoy it before it heats up. Have a great day.
