Did my eyes deceive me? No Huckleberry? What’s up?
Morning All, And thanks Elliott. Would not be any great loss if Meat the Press doesn’t return. How is George Stephanopolis going to know what to think without George Will.
Good morning, pups. It’s MoDo, Friedman, Kristof and Rich today. MoDo, in “Now, Sarah’s Folly,” says as Alaskans settled in to enjoy holiday salmon bakes and the post-solstice thaw, their governor had a solipsistic meltdown so strange it made Sparky Sanford look like a model of stability. The Moustache of Wisdom asks “Can I Clean Your Clock?” and says if the United States doesn’t want to lose the green technology race, President Obama can’t put the energy/climate bill on the back burner to focus solely on health care. They go together. Mr. Kristof tells us about “The Best Kids’ Books Ever,” and asks us to kids away from the keyboard and the television, and give them a book. For ideas, he has a summer reading list. Mr. Rich says “Bernie Madoff is no John Dillinger,” and that in the context of our own Great Recession, Bernie Madoff’s old-fashioned Ponzi scheme was merely a one-off next to the esoteric and (often legal) heists by banks and bankers.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got blueberry pancakes with more fresh berries to sprinkle over them. The cold drinks are waiting in the fridge for later. I do confess to a morbid fascination with Palin at this point… I know, it’s not really good for me, but oh Lordy, it’s amusing! Have a great day.
In other news, the lead story in the Times says that leading clerics in Iran are defying the Ayatollah and calling the election and and new government illegitimate. The group is from the holy city of Qum.
INFERNAL GASSBAGS
Thanks Elliott.
OfT looks like Jane was spot on yesterday:
Is Sarah Palin Making A Sacrifice Play?.
AP quoting FBI and other law enforcement, they have no plans to indict Sarah Palin. That’s gotta mean she resigned to protect Todd or someone else, who gave her a firewall.
Our NBC has given up Matthews for the Sunday Today….very bad trade. Our paper coverage said the Teabaggers at the Capitol on yesterday were in the hundreds….looks like their biggest target was Cornyn and “Obamanation.” Ain’t they got fun?
Good Morning…..if I weren’t off to work in a while, I am sure I would go back to bed.
Good Morning. I’ll be watching tennis but I’ll switch off to catch a little of Biden. Lately I’ve noticed a change in him. He seems to have lost that twinkle in his eye. GWB screwed this nation but good.
Mornin’ Elliot and Firedogs -
what I wouldn’t give to hear Schieffer ask Senator
AntoinetteGrassley about this:Diary with video here
Maybe, but I’m wondering if she’s just an opportunist who sees the governorship as something standing in her way to better things. Now she’s free to leave Alaska, host a show on Fox, raise money, accept ‘gifts’ etc.
I agree she’s an opportunist, but she wasn’t doing any work as Governor anyway. She was just using the office as her personal platform. Also with oil revenues headed south, being gov was a lot tougher.
FWIW, about an hour before her
wreck of the Edmund Fitzgeraldpress conference, she tweeted that she wasn’t running for re-election in 2010, nothing about resigning. My guess is the prosecutors told her, that wasn’t good enough.I agree she’s going to continue to be a force with the nuttiest of the wingnuts, but I still think her resignation is a huge net win for Alaska, liberals/progressives, and reasonable people.
Fox Headlines.
Gov. Palin was having an affair with Gov. Sanford when Michael Jackson died wearing Britney’s panties.
OK, who else partied hardy?
Out here in the sticks we party hearty, but even that doesn’t fit us out for duty watching the Sunday morning crap.
Weatherwise, it was a miserable day here for outside activities. Chilly and overcast. Mid 60’s. Today, the party will resume with beautiful high 70’s temps.
Glorious day here yesterday and again today. So, no TV for me after my coffee’s gone.
Good morning everyone.
Chris Matthews asking Bob Woodward about Weymouth’s dinner salons and “access journalism” at the Post could be quite something.
Wouldn’t it be considered bad manners among the Villagers to bring up Weymouth’s faux pas?
Did you all see this?
http://crooksandliars.com/susi…..e-means-go
Replying to my own comment, what are the chances this will even be mentioned on any news show? Especially won’t be mentioned on the business networks.
If it happened
MSNBC:A pedestrian bridge in Indiana collapsed. No fatalities, but really, wtf?
Are we sure the bridge was not in Alaska? Maybe $$ helps build those bridges wherever….Except for London, I really do not recall bridges falling down so much. Do you?
Stayed home yesterday evening. The beach is only about 16 blocks but I could hear the city’s display. That didn’t bother the tigers at all. Then the neighborhood kicked in. Ever had 7 felines on a table at the same time? Boom. Look out the front windows. Boom. Look out the back door. Oh, I wish I’d had a video camera. Not as bad as previous years, though.
Steve McNair shot in what looks like a murder-suicide. Wonder if he told his girlfriend he wouldn’t get a divorce. “If I can’t have you, nobody can.” I lost a female friend to a world class asshole that way. Really, really sad.
I did a google count to see which was preferred, “party hardy” won.
Morning all.
solai, I knew you’d be watching tennis *g*
The entire infrastructure of the country seems to be crumbling.
yeah, that’s a great big “as if!”
How’s the patient?
Wish I could find the entire piece online. Hate having to buy RS to read the whole thing.
Eternal gasbags.
Other than when I get her to feed she stays right next to the base of the waterbed, her favourite spot. If she spends at least 1 night at the vet and gets sedated it’s days before she perks up. Tolerating the tube feeding quite well, though. Thanks a heap for asking. Vet wants to put at least a pound on her, 2 would be better. Damn, forgot to weigh her first thing.
So what’s going to happen now, I wonder?
You’re a saint.
Recently returned from 4 weeks in Italy and France. Their infrastructure is a marvel and they continue to invest in more high speed rail lines, paving motor routes, new and dramatic bridges but then they believe that “government” is to serve the nation and is not the “enemy.”
I wonder if this is the same group?
Alaska’s Lt Gov. Sean Parnell, Karl Rove and Mike Huckabee are on Fox News Sunday talking Palin.
Chomsky gave a speech at Riverside Church on the 12th. He mentions riding the high speed train from Boston to New York. Said there’s an improvement over when he first rode the train to NY over 40 years ago. It’s 5 minutes faster.
hmmm…
*wistful sigh*
New line from Nice to Paris in 3 1/2 hours. Traveling at 200+ mph on land is a heady experience.
I’ll bet. And here I used to think pedal to the metal on the Autobahn was a heady experience.
So, where do you all think the Palin family will make their new home?
Sharing again
Carl Stone shares a daily palindrome on his FB page
Yesterday
This is a such a delicious straight line, I believe I’ll just sit back and watch for answers.
The McCain’s will rent them one of their homes?
They will buy Neverland.
LMAO!! 707!!!
*spew!*
Thanks very much. I missed it.
Bastards.
Fox News AllStars: More Palin with Bill Kristol, this should be good
haha! Palin can use this time to learn stuff
Like the benefits of birth control?
Sunday, bloody talking heads Sunday.
If her educational resume is any indication, she’ll need more than 3 years
Yeah, there aren’t enough years in a lifetime for that gal, you betcha.
Good morning late to the party here.
I think Sarah’s going to get herself ordained and start a media Ministry to save the country. It will give protection to the hater under the guise of religious freedom.
Does that rule come from the SEC or Treasury or where?
It began with the rich people deciding they had to win the presidency & Congress regardless of whether there were any Republicans worthy of the jobs.
Eisenhower was weak enough to allow Nixon on the ticket.
