Hey Suzanne.
hey bct – how was your 4th?
ok – so I have one question:
oops – ‘evening Suz. and all.
So just how did the The Who get away with the lyric; “Who the fuck are you?” on the radio for all these years?
hey jayt – tis a puzzlement indeed
Pretty good, thanks.
The best part was a Get Out of Jury Duty Free postcard I got in Friday’s mail. We did a nice little patriotic concert in the U’s band shell Saturday morning, and went to catch the local fireworks show last night.
How was yours?
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Greatest rock and roll band EVER! Thanks, Suze!
funny d and i had a nice evening watching the kick-ass seattle fireworks on cable. i bet that clerk filled out your get outta jury duty thing for you bct.
Hiya Pups!!! (EPU’d)
Some ear candy 2nite?
hey that guy
hey jofish – ear candy is always welcome — any nite :)
Didn’t you ever hear about what Pete Townshend did to Abbie Hoffman at Woodstock? The directors of the FCC didn’t want to get brained.
Just so the clerk remembered to strike my name from the jury panel, too. I don’t need any failure to show warrants issued for me.
the cops seem to always find the most inconvenient and embarrassing time to do the pickups too – during sunday dinner when the inlaws are visiting etc.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it either is MJ or Palin on the local news…… now Karl…
Good evening everyone…..
Elmore is camping at Lone Pine CA….. should be here tomorrow afternoon or evening…..
hey katy
In jury orientation two years ago we were told that we would be fetched by sheriff’s deputies from wherever we were if we were habitually absent. I was under the impression that being fetched would not be pleasant.
Being hauled off from the front of a classroom would not do my ethos a heck of a lot of good. It might help with the pathos angle, though.
bet the students would enjoy it tho
ok – I’m never too smart to start:
Bruce and Melissa: (I’m posting the long version – it’s worth it)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxavHgbaE-E
Can you say, “Class dismissed”?
oooooh i’ve not heard this….
nice, very nice
of course, they could be bitching that the cops shudda come at the start of class instead of the end….
Why is it that local stories get blow into national “missing blond” type stories?
I understand the reporting about the serial killer in SC but why do I need to hear about some foot bridge that collapsed or a fire on the freeway in Portland?
OMG….by next weekend it will hit 114 degrees….. it was 110 degrees today…. just too hot to even take out the garbage….
I have jury duty in a month — lived in SF for seventeen years, never been called.
notice how gov sanford got outta sc now they have a serial killer. iirc he went to florida with the mrs and kids
gawd, I would *so* love to be called for jury duty.
‘course, I’d last until about the second question until I got thrown out.
swear ta doG, I would so love to do jury duty….
how was your fourth teddy? i was never called to jury duty except during the years i was working at the pd – after they took away the automatic ‘no cops’ deferral. i got called every 2 years regular as clockwork but never picked.
i wonder if my saying that i think all lawyers lie had anything to do with it.
CA Hwy Patrol mailed me a ticket for parking in my own driveway, No date and nothing on the windsheild. “In the right of way wherever that is no markers.
Like the who a lot very classy.
Enjoy, Teddy. I really don’t mind doing it, and wouldn’t have given the clerk an earful, except that they told I was excused until January 2010. Then they changed the rules… so I objected.
Snippy, Suzanne. Cops here have a thing that they used to call “testilying”.
Wow! Always knew Phoenix was an oven…but you are getting barbequed. I remember the heat waves rising from the pavement. Is Tucson better Katymine?
hey bb – i would fight that one.
hey mac – i’ve heard that term used by public defenders.
I just got the letter want to sub for me?
Sarah*Jenny 2012
I served for a week some years ago, and Teddy, I have to say that it changed my life. I resisted going, bitching and moaning. We had a case about a prison with sex for food and cigarettes, with women begging men jailors. So very sad. But we had such an experience that I’d do it again.
katy i would forking melt.
and it would be ugly. i dont do hot well at all.
Talk about things that make you go hmmmm…
How do you fight a ticket like that?
hey sunny
hey ce
You’ll no doubt be excused by 10:00 along with a room full of about 250 people. This (imo) is a huge waste of taxpayer dollars that our CA gov could save. I am called yearly, paid by my gov employer, and never get called to even a possible case.
Stupid waste of money. They could call potential jurors when they need them, not just willy-nilly.
Hope you get on an interesting case, though. I keep hoping I will.
Well our Leg goes into special session tomorrow as we STILL do not have a budget…… and the blond ditz Gov…… kept saying over and over… “Tomorrow is a new day” with a stupid id10t grin showing her dentures….
If you think CA is screwed….. AZ has too many repugs, no one will raise taxes…… they are asking for 1 cent increase sales tax temporarily … one fucking cent….. and the repugs will NOT work with our too few Democrats…..
hey loohoo
canada is looking better and better – i wonder if kirk will let me be his ‘friend’ when he goes to work in b.c.
last i heard he was studying for his canadian shrink boards.
Hey Suz. Got my house in Encinitas rented out. (Whew!)
And I’m the only person here that has today off.
woohoo loohoo and whew
isn’t it Isle of Wight? No “R” which makes sense, we don’t have many R’s here at FDL.
I’m very partial to Live at Leeds for a live Who album.
today being monday?
Maybe I’ll dedicate this to GovGILF and her impending whatevah…
FORK… fixing it now… thanks wmd1961
guess i still have a little extra r left in me even after i switched to d
Hiya LooHoo!
My architect neighbor pulled his Assessor’s file which shows 80 foot right of way with. There is 25 of roadway…the lady onduty at HQ said it is 35 feet. I was 40 feet. Took digital picture down both directions. Might be eadier to go to traffic school. I did lose my cool and told her I would like to shove the ticket where the sun don’t shine using standard vernacilar. She did not break stride, I need charm school desperately.
?I just got the letter want to sub for me?
there isn’t a competent lawyer working who’d let me anywhere near his or her jury.
other than that – hell, yeah.
the clash have the best cover of that song evah.
Canada is officially too goddam cold for me. Yes, I am a pansy-ass Californian and no, I’m not sorry. As I get older, my comfort range gets narrower and narrower.
Good going!
The horrible thing about California’s plight is that they have a working majority of D’s. It’s a minority that is blocking everything.
You folks in Arizona can fix your problem in 2010. I doubt you will, but you could. California hasn’t got a chance, because most of their lege R’s are coming out of the batshit crazy districts. Having to get a 2/3 or whatever ridiculous supermajority is required makes budgeting impossible.
Yes, Monday. Every holiday for museums is Monday. Mr.CE had Friday off — just say’in
well that certainly forked up your 3 day weekend
egad
Hey, I told the jury clerk that Hizzoner wrote me, “a very politely worded FU letter.” When I told Mrs. BC about it, she looked at me and said, “You didn’t!?!”
“Yeah, I did.”
“Good for you!”
Yeah, but we did MsCE for about three hours!
Hi Suz. “I can’t explain” is Barbie’s theme song?
Here’s to The Who, a band featuring one of the greatest writers in rock, one of the greatest singers in rock, one of the greatest drummers in rock, and THE greatest bassist in rock. Saw them do the complete “Quadrophenia” in San Jose about 10 years ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVl39LBZGMw
how is ms ce?
hiya, Suze & Pups!
Hope everyone had a good 4th!
hey emerson – it certainly does apply
and wow! jealous wow!
LOL you are too funny
hey ndfg
So great — working on a Mellon grant with costumes given from Brooklyn to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Moved from E.79 st. to Brooklyn. She is sharing an apt. with grad. school pal. Lovely.
If I was going to have health care coverage in another country, I would choose France….. they spend 11% of GDP on health care, half the patients can get a same day appointment with their PCP, and everyone is covered AND the insurance companies are NOT FOR PROFIT……
AND it is not “socialized”….. the government does NOT own or employee hospitals and physicians……
ok – so I’m in a mood.
Melissa again:

Is it wrong to tear up at a song well done?
(”Ain’t there one damn song that can make me….”)
it would be worth it to learn french for the french system katy
we could get a little place on the french coast
Jack Bruce and Jack Casady played some bass.
it is wrong not to
sounds wonderful. any specific era of costumes? hollywood or broadway?
Wonderful!
the French coast is like Malibu or any of those horrible tourist towns, probably more like Mamie, built up, roads crowded and takes you hours to drive anywhere…..
I would live in Provence, but would have to be near an airport for Elmore…. he can get a job right away…….
hey margot
Decent cover of some Janis by Melissa and Joss Stone.. very decent actually..and I do love me some Big Brother and the Holding Company… so SF…
No, mostly 19th century. World of hurt coming for museums. See you tonorrow.
Good night, folks.
thank you. on the other hand, one *can* switch gears…..
fastball coming….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0wfu3tOrtQ
heh.
my neighbors in boulder creek had an apt on the coast near the border with spain. am trying to remember how to spell the blasted city’s name…
g’nite ce
g’nite bct
oooh i heard this on the radio today – hadn’t heard it in ages and now twice in one day
Hi Suz, hi all.
Jo, I like Joss Stone. Wow.
Near Montpelier Medical school No?
Goodnight BC
heading out…… thanks for a great blog day….. not quite as frantic as Friday where a new post would show up and have a 100 comments (need to read faster)
Nite all
collioure france

g’nite katy
Hi Margot… check this out then… what a Dusty Springfield cover… wow!
wow jofish – that is ear candy
No doubt! I just never heard anyone in rock play bass like a running lead before.
this was new to me:
http://www.veoh.com/browse/vid…..50eDXw2RDJ
emerson – that rocks. hard.
did you see the cream reunion when it was on pbs.
Hey, Jo Fish! Good to see you.
emerson – check out the bass in this mule – slackjaw Jezebel
Thanks, Sunny! I was freaking. Now I’m dealing with a real estate agent to sell or rent the Panama condo. I love that place, though, and I won’t let go of it easily! Plus, it feels good to own something free and clear for once.
that rocks. hard.
I retort:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqU9RZqvFKY
*g*
Wow! Sounds dreamy for your girl. What a great experience for her!
i hope it rents loohoo. it keeps the dream alive of retiring down there
The Sunshine of your love…great tune so many from Cream
Interesting video… when Clapton goes off on his lead solo (which is different from the final version on the LP if I’m not mistaken) it’s longer and sounds well, different. Ginger Baker also drops the beat for a few bars too I think, but recovers nicely… I wonder if he was a bit confused by Clapton… he’s got a big smile on his face.
So cool! Thanks for that one, man…
i raise the stakes with this
What’s the latitude?
Hey Suzanne I doubled down on the jog twice as long as yesterday feelin lovesick and cocky at the same time. My Limbic system is so stupid.
Yeah! THanks;)
i dunno – its on the border with spain and is a tiny little walled town with a fort on the bay. they love their apt there and go back every year or so. they rent it out with the understanding they can arrange in advance for a month during the summer (when their tenant likes to go on vacation so it works out well)
Dang, Jo. That took me back. Thanks!
don’t overdo dood. your body needs to heal that broken wrist so don’t overtax yourself.
Clapton doing what he does best – covering the blues:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGQioxzli-w
Suze… one of my faves… it’s been covered so many times, so well… I first heard it on “Layla and other assorted love songs” by Derrick and the Dominoes and fell in love with it.
*ginger baker rocks*
I am bored without aaa little advnture. Thank You. My BP tested 106 over 66 I haven’t jogged much since my pup passed but it was so esay and relaxed no strain no pain. You couch potatoes just wouldn’t understand what endorphins can do for ya. S)
you should appreciate this then jofish
So probably the same latitude/climate as socal. Good for your friends. That’s the way to go!
hehehehehe
but i do know about broken bone recovery – and your body is requiring extra goodies and rest so that it can heal properly. i aint saying be a couch potato but be aware and don’t overdo. casts are sucky in the summertime
it gets hot in the summertime – which he loves. he grew up outside of sacramento and loves hot.
Here is special ear candy for Suz
shit – anytime my BP is under 140 over 95 I’m pretty happy.
I tend to run hot….
i love that song bb – in 7th grade i started going by suzi instead of suzanne
That is what the black bean burritos are for. S) LIke Revial? Nice guitar work for my ear.
Don’t tell Busted I sent that one your way. He may g thud.
ok – so sue me.
I like this song by Billy Bob Thornton. Now I’ll admit that I would have been more impressed before I saw the “copyright 2001″ tag, on account of it would have been more classy, but i still like it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..playnext=1
oh yeah – ccr was an east bay band so i had a special affinity for them bb
How did you get it to play? Just a black screen for me. YouTube works fine, but that didn’t.
hehehehe i’ll keep it between just you and me and no one will ever know
margot – are you running the newest flash? iirc, there was an update recently. let me see if i can find it for ya
Nice one Suze… Jimmy Thackery… hmmmm…. :)
Back when I was teenage pup, I used to listen to Grand Funk RR becuz I loved listening (and playing) Don Brewer’s Drum part…oh, god they are so aaaawesome LOL… But GFRR was an interesting band, I hated their later stuff, very pretentious I thought in my ‘tweenage cool mind. But their Red Albumn rocked my socks off, still have it on Vinyl and CD.
Mel Schacher the bass player came to them from studio gigs, I think after doing a stint with ? and the Mysterians (96 Tears), his bass playing was pretty freakin’ good too. Mark Farner always left me a bit cold, but hell, it was American Heavy Metal being born after all…well IMHO. So here’s one, long but pretty good…
my I add one?
just John Fogerty, but that’s enough I think….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVZjP0NGBsA
margot found it – it is a shockwave update – not flash. here is the article with links to see if you are running the most current version
Whew, all kinds of big-time talent flying around these you tubes tonight!
Wow that is the best so intense high notes then down in the cellar. How do you learn to do that> Thousands of hours…practice practice practice. Good one Suz That made the Fourth for me.
gfrr – another band bringing back memories of my misspent youth…. haven’t heard that song in years dood
hugs Suz, thanks so much!
thanks bb – iirc, i front paged that video – maybe around the 4th last year??? at the base of the space needle – sure wish i cudda been there for that concert
my pleasure margot – i check security fix about once a week or so – he always does posts about the new patches etc.
tis the ONLY thing i now read at the waapoo
? and the Mysterians is Van Morrison.
really loohoo? i knew he was with them but did not know he was ?
Just listen. Has to be Van Morrison.
Seriously?
I’ll be damned.
(’course, that one’s kind of a no-brainer)
Had the first two GFRR albums. Summer of 60 they started showing concerts from around the country on one of the NY indy stations. Just happened to turn on GRFF live from Crosley Field in Cincinnati. No recorders in those days. g*
Yup. Just early Morrison.
The heck you say… see, I learned sumpin’ tonight. Ah, Van Morrison…drove out of south Texas on my way to Pensacola in the summer of 79 listening to this song on my radio… the PD at my radio station played it for me as a “request” as I hit the road… learned to fly helicopters that summer for Uncle Sam.
his wiki doesn’t mention ?.
loohoo – wiki says ? is some guy outta michigan
da clock on the wall says I gotta go.
Night, all.
Hey, Pups!
How’s ever-thang?
Sounds like you’ve all been rockin’ the jukebox around here…
FunnyWheelieDiva
meant summer of 69. Geez…
Night, Jayt
g’nite jayt
great tunes, jayt-nite.
was wondering when you were gonna get back fd
i knew what you meant – i read typo fluently
Heh.
Playin’ mindless computer-adventure game.
Missed ya, though!
How were the strawberries?
sweet! very sweet funny. picked them myself – small and very very juicy.
Yeah, actually the wiki says they might be one of the first punk bands evah (be fore there was punk) and the first latino band to have a number one with a bullet (apologies to Zappa)
sure does sound sorta like van when ya listen to em tho
yeah, I’m getting a little too good at typos. 60 is tougher to remember. s*
Sleep with Boz Skaggs Nite
Mmmm, nothing like fresh-off-the-vine ripe!
I hope we’ll have local ones at my store here for a week or two longer…they’re amazing.
FWDiva
(Hi, Token)
nite JayT… thanks for the ear candy!
Goodnight jayt
a lovely g’nite tune. g’nite bb
pretty lullaby. nite BB.
doubt that wiki is correct, suz.
remember this loohoo?
Poking around the utoobz found this. Beatles @shea stadium... the intro is priceless, the CBS d-bag asking the fans “how long can they last” and stuff like that. What tool… also, the cop sticking his fingers in his ears with the fans screaming. Great music!
wow – i saw their last concert at candlestick. the cops appeared to be digging the show until they had to deal with fans running onto the field. pretty funny to watch the fans being tackled
for Warren fans
http://video.google.com/videop…..7216141707
Love Skaggs, BB. Here’s some Joy of Cooking for ‘ol time’s sake too!
*raising hand* definite warren fan here
oh loohoo – that is such a great summer song
time for me to mosy off pups. thank you all for a very enjoyable evening.
g’nite
Goodnight, Suz.
Sleep well!
Another Warren… and I went by Lee Ho Fooks once, wanted to go in, but Mrs Fish did not get the significance…and she did not want beef chow mein…oh, well…
Noches y’all!
Sure do! Another Van Morrison band.
Jo, I actually got to see the Beatles with my sister. They played in San Diego when I was 13 or so. I didn’t appreciate what my dad did for me at the time, but he wouldn’t let us miss it.
I swore I wouldn’t scream, but I ended up just like all the other teen girls screaming my head off!
emerson, how’d you make that video full screen? Cool.
Night, Suzanne. Thanks for the funsies.
had no idea! You go Loo Hoo!
I think Google did it, Loo Hoo. You’ll find I’m not technologically, um, gifted. S*
Love that! Lennon is one of my heroes. You could see the rebel come out, as he was the only one to even unbutton his jacket on that sweltering August night.
I still cannot believe I wasn’t there. Lost out in the first ticket lottery I can remember. Never got another chance.
The other uneder-appreciated musician, imo, is John Sebastian.
Everyone nighty-night?
Love John Sebastian. Also one of the real nice guys in the industry according to people that know.
