Not knowing the history of firedoglake, I though Laura was a Hillary fanatic and FDL folks were ignoring her. Because her comments were always in single digits. So having the excessive empathy I have, I left a comment at gritTV.
It was deleted!!!

All I said was that; “congress should were corporate logos on their lapels along with their flag pins”.

Jane I love you, but why should I help a blogger that deletes my harmless comments?

Good luck Laura. You’re $50.00 closer to your goal.

Here’s the rub. America has changed, but we have not seen that change reflected in our political leadership. This is true of many issues, in varying degrees to be sure, which range from same sex marriage to single payer health insurance to a comprehensive green initiative that could rejuvenate American manufacturing and make America the global leader in clean energy technology to the rejection of torture and the mindless militarism that has characterized too many American administrations to low cost public financing for higher education.

Ordinary Americans are awaiting real leadership, and I thought we elected the person who would deliver that leadership. But, OMG, it is so painfully slow, and it is so maddening to see time wasted trying to be bipartisan with a political party that is out of touch with reality and prefers it that way.

This is not to say that bipartisanship is undesirable per se, but it is undesirable in fact when the minority party’s idea of productive bipartisanship consists of undermining any good faith effort to make fundamental, as opposed to cursory, policy changes with respect to the political issues that matter most to ordinary Americans. There is no point to cursory change. It would have been better to vote for McCain in that case because by know we would be in the depths of the Second Great Depression and not all the special interest money in the world would get 41 Senators to sit on their hands and announce that the times do not require a fundamental change in policy in many different areas.

We avoided a Second Great Depression. We have made strong progress towards engagement and cooperation and honesty in our foreign policy initiatives. The economic stimulus has and will continue to slowly help matters even though it could have and should have been bigger. GM and CHrysler are more than likely going to survive and may some day prosper again. But those are actually hard matters. There is nothing hard about signing an Executive Order staying the enforcement of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and reinstating those who were discharged form the armed services involuntarily. And I don’t think there is any excuse in failing to do so.

It is real leadership that lifts a country in trying times, and although it is not required to be perfect, it must be broad and heartfelt. And when it is, then Americans will respond to the call of leadership.

Again, best of luck with your efforts to support Laura Flanders and GritTV.

About 9 months or a year ago I bought a painting from an Iragi artist via a U.S. art gallery. PayPal, despite multiple phone conversations, would not clear payment. Finally I did a wire transfer. Will never try to use paypal again.
