With Ohio’s unemployment rate the highest it’s been in 25 years, I’m pleased that federal officials stepped in to order Ohio to use all of its construction dollars for shovel-ready projects that will create much-needed jobs.

What is funny about this video is that the narrator is not Boner — whoever it is has a distinct SOUTHERN accent. Yeah, they really sound like that in Ohio.
There’s no question in my mind that the nominal unemployment rate would be above 15% if the Republican opposition was in control. At the same time patience is running out and blame for current conditions will be fixed firmly on the administration and Congress regardless of the fairness of it. If the recovery is mostly a jobless one the ramifications for the November 2010 election are very bad. It’s time to further accelerate the stimulus and begin consideration of a second one that doesn’t contain the useless tax cuts. I am amongst the unemployed/underemployed (as I am one of them) and the blame and disillusion is shifting its focus quite rapidly. Results better start coming in soon.
The problem is, Congressman Boehner, you hired that dog that only tracks down litter boxes.

Cutting taxes now would only benefit the wealthy while shoveling onto the middle class the cost of cleaning up Mr. Bush’s wars, Mr. Bush and Mr. Obama’s bank bail-outs and subsidies to big auto, to pay the cost of health care reform that will directly aid those who employ workers or invest in the stocks and bonds of those who do.
Mr. Boehner should stop with the tan-in-a-can and work the fields outside Toledo for a week along with the migrants whose low pay and poor conditions put cheap food on his table. Or he should spend a day in a closed factory in Toledo or Youngstown or stand in an unemployment line in Dayton for an afternoon looking for non-existent work.
Then again, lack of knowledge isn’t his problem. It’s his priorities and his ability to empathize only with those who have money who can further his career or marry his children.

As I watch this entire freekin mess unfold I have to wonder at what point do the dems in congress bear responsibility for all the mis information?
Aside, in my local paper today the local rethugs, in a 1/2 page story,(in 5 years I do not think that I have seen any similar story about the dems, yet the rethugs continue to shout liberal bias and the MSM continues to prove that they belong in the rethug pocket) were full of glee about how they are going to take back the house and senate in 2010. Are they riding for a fall, or will the great unwashed-sheeple-whose attention span seems to be about as long as any one story on the network news-vote the rethug bomb throwers back into power where they can once more continue their theft of what is left of our treasure?

That is exactly my fear. The Dems either must find their spine and start truly stimulating the economy or voters will knee-jerk right into voting them out. Of course this will only make things worse, but the damage will be done. Sure, Boehner is an idiot, but he is scoring points every time he can mention the unemployment numbers. People will NOT try to think out whether the Repug solutions would be effective, they will simply hear the that the unemployment rate is not falling and act accordingly.

Here in Phoenix, the stupid politician’s can go on about where are the jobs etc but all they need to do is “TRY” to drive around …… building light rail, 101 freeway has been under construction since the ink was barely dry on the stimulus bill. The problem is the local legislature is trying to destroy the state by starving the beast.

I’m sick of hearing/reading this bullshit. The admin didn’t promise 8% unemployment. It estimated that in january before the 4th quarter numbers came out which turned out shittier than anticipated.
