“After all, his management of [former Vice President] Dan Quayle’s public image as his chief of staff is still something that takes your breath away,”

Yeppurs, l’il Billy Kristol is such a master of, er, um, nothing.

Mornin’, BT

I love the smell of roasting Kristol in the morning. Smells like…….shit.

From the WaPo link:

Only months after declaring his intention to run against Sen. Arlen Specter, former National Constitution Center president Joe Torsella is endorsing the incumbent for reelection.

It’s totally depressing news that the great state of Pennsylvania can’t do better than single-shot Specter.

Torsella’s close relationship with Rendell (and Rendell’s close relationship with Specter) makes the endorsement somewhat expected and furthers the idea that Specter is the establishment pick and Sestak is the renegade outsider.

Apparently Sestak is still in, but he’s more right-of-center than Specter. which makes the situation in PA even more depressing.

Another classic case of blowback, since most U.S.ians don’t know anything about School of Americas, so are completely ignorant about the U.S. training assassins, right-wing dictators and coup leaders.

Of course, there’s morons like Rush Limbaugh who are right now sympathizing with the “poor widdle Honduras military” in having to use force to overthrow their government of people, by the people, and for the people! Man, what a bunch of ironic wingnuts in the American Taliban (today’s GOP)! They have no clue what they’re doing and when they’re in such disarray, violence will emerge from them. Rush tried to convince me yesterday that 95% OF THE HONDURAN PEOPLE SUPPORT THEIR MILITARY’S COUP OF THEIR DULY ELECTED PRESIDENT! Unfreakingbelievable.

Oooops. Zalaya criticized the U.S. war on drugs and legalization of some drugs to lessen violence in Honduras. Outgoing U.S. ambassador said remittances by Hondurans to their own country are mostly drug related, as a way of punishing Zalaya. Zalaya wrote Obama in December 2008, critizing U.S. policy in Honduras and then committed the sin of making the letter public. A very dangerous man from the U.S. POV, and since the U.S. had so many tools in the country, it was easy to get rid of him.

We have loved living here but, geegollywhizzer, the lady who lived here sure had a lotta junk! Never turned away anything that still had a little use left in it, and still don’t. I think we might have achieved a record of some sort for finding good loving homes for an incredible bunch of things ‘n stuff.

WELL then! Gotta go look bizzy.

Don’t stand between any repubbles on the 4th, gang. Let ‘em scrabble wit eachudder. Say. Is Sanford for real? egad. Someone shut him in his room with a box of tissues and be done with it. It’s getting just a tad embarrassing. *shudder*

Franken’s election now swings the focus for cloture votes from Susan Collins and Olympia Snow to Ben Nelson, Blanche Lincoln, Evan Bayh and a few others. It would be nice to have really progressive Democrats representing Nebraska, Arkansas, and Indiana, but it’s been a while since their electorates sent any to Washington. For all I know, they may actually be more progressive than their constituents, but wouldn’t be in office if they advocated their ideals in all cases. It still reminds me of the line, “if you think they’re mean, you ought to see their constituents.”

Remember that recent horrible coal-ash spill disaster in TN? And how the EPA had a list of other locations around the country……….but they refused to release the names of the sites.

Dog bless Boxer for pushing for release of the information and McClatchy for writing about it. The EPA has now forked over the list and you can see where they are located relative to you.

There are SEVEN! Count ‘em! Seven forkin’ sites in North Carolina alone. Do you have one sitting in your back yard?

Thanks for clarifying. The problem is, many of the allegations of CIA interference turn out to be correct. Other activities never see the light of day in the media. The ones that do are spun to divert blame on fictionalized villains.

“The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of any significance in the major media.” –William Colby, former CIA Director, quoted by Dave Mcgowan, Derailing Democracy.

This has background on Torture School US style.

A Thoroughly Un-American Institution

Today, June 24, 2009, Congress will vote on an amendment to the Defense Authorization Act which would require the School of the Americas/WHINSEC to release to the public the names, ranks, countries of origin, courses taken and dates of attendance of all the students and instructors at the institute.

The School of the America’s, renamed WHINSEC, is an organization founded with the explicit purpose of teaching its students the science of torture and interrogation techniques. Its records have been concealed, and for the most part its dealings shrouded in mystery.

Before making too much fun of ND, remember they have nukes.

The NW corner of the state, especially the oil country in the Minot/Williston area, is booming. My brother’s a building contractor there and he can’t hire enough workers. He has more work than he can handle.

I was traveling through the area last month and had a hell of a time even finding a motel room in Minot. They’re all full of oil workers.
