Harvey Milk preached hope for those on the margins; today’s GOP all too often preaches fear, callous indifference, denial, and despair. Look around on this Pride Weekend, and it is evident that hope is winning out over fear.
It’s about time.

Come Saturday Morning: Affairs of State |
| By: Phoenix Woman Saturday June 27, 2009 7:30 am |
Considering that Edwards’ old affair came to light after his career was already over, whereas the Sanford and Ensign affairs were revealed while they still held office and as they were gearing up to run for the presidency in 2012, isn’t it a bit odd that the media spent much more time beating up on Edwards’ dead horse?

As I said earlier in the week, it’s been quite frenzied at our house for months on end. And as I sit here, there isn’t anything I’d undo — but there are some things I might do better. The most crucial of which would be to have taken better care of myself as I was taking care of everyone around me.

Whipping the Public Option: “We’ll Fix It in Conference” |
| By: Jane Hamsher Friday June 26, 2009 4:35 pm |
The only way to prevent a health care bill from becoming a big bailout of the insurance industry is to get these members on the record now, and make it impossible to back down even in the wake of tremendous pressure.
Breaking: House Passes Waxman-Markey Energy Legislation |
| By: Gregg Levine Friday June 26, 2009 4:18 pm |
HR 2454, the Waxman-Markey bill on Energy and Climate change passed the United States House of Representatives, 219-212. Eight Republicans voted with the majority, 44 Democrats voted against the bill (unofficial). Call it landmark, call it watered down, call it a strike against global warming, or a soft toss to the coal industry, this is major move forward for one of the President’s seminal policy initiatives.
