World Economy Finding a Bottom Because the Keynesians are in China

By: Stirling Newberry Sunday June 14, 2009 12:30 pm

Starting last June, the global economy began to fall apart; and in September it rolled off the table and entered what can only be called “freefall.” That is, usually in economics, one person’s misfortune is another person’s gain. If prices drop, at least someone is convinced to spend. Instead, job losses begat job losses, and bank failures begat bank failures.

Which Left-Winger Made the Following Anti-Semitic Remarks: James von Brunn or Richard M. Nixon?

By: Blue Texan Sunday June 14, 2009 11:30 am

So I see wingnuts like the Pantload are telling us that James von Brunn’s anti-Semitism is proof that he’s a lefty. Leaving aside the absurdity of reducing an individual’s overall political orientation to a single feature (Hitler favored low taxes — just like Republicans!), anti-Semitism in the United States has been a staple of the far-right for decades, from Henry Ford to Charles Lindbergh to Pat Buchanan — you even saw it during the Great Teabagging.

DOMA and the Democrats

By: Jane Hamsher Sunday June 14, 2009 7:30 am

I’ve been consumed with writing about the supplemental over at the Silo for the past few days, but I wanted to take a moment to address something that I’d be writing about a lot if I wasn’t — namely the brief filed by the Department of Justice over DOMA.John Aravosis and Joe Sudbay managed to obtain a copy of the brief, and AmericaBlog has covered this superbly.  But Joe writes something that I hope everyone considers when writing about this.

Late Night: The Man-Loadian Candidate

By: Thers Saturday June 13, 2009 8:00 pm

Jonah Goldberg is back with the blather about the “perfect GOP candidate,” which he seems to think should be some combination of Dick Cheney and Charo — a spicy Hispanic senorita with a heart of turd. But Jonah is stupid; maybe the GOP needs someone else. Let’s help them out!
