Good evening, bigbrother. How are you?
Recovering fast improving on task management the knee no longer hurts. Gardening, cooking, cleaning and activism, The struggle fo a sustainable affordable sewer goes on. The Cpomnty wants $300.00 a month when it can be done under $100.00. Do you think we have a right to the most affordable solution.
How are you holding up?
In terms of home sewage? Composting is the most affordable solution.
Glad to hear of a quick rebound. Will you be able to paddle soon? I’m getting stronger every day, thanks. Been tied up with all the unfinished tasks which fell by the wayside the past few months. Think I am ready for the fun parts now.
Off topic. Sorry. And can’t hang around but go to my diary for a minute and fill out the petition – you just might save a life
BB how’s the wing?? Hope the pain has subsided for you!
Great tune ES!
Thank you for this!
You can’t be off topic in LLN.. it’s impossible! *s*
Hi ES…. how are you? doing fine tonight……
Here’s an ethical question from left field: called to Jury Duty, can one honestly say that they are impartial given the current Justice Dept–and, more importantly, the fact that any evidence could have been obtained by some sort Constitutional end-around?
Good evening CE and katymine. So katymine, what have you been cooking?
Certainly seems like one would be compelled to raise the question in court before being selected, doesn’t it?
I don’t know — all I said is that I’m an ultra-liberal Dem and I wear pearls. They kept me…
It will take six weeks to handle stressfull exercise but I did 800 crunches last night and plan to do leg press and other ancillary work. So not laying around but challening the body to the daily required duties. The anti biotics helped with herbal tea and probiotic to replace the friendly flora they destroy. Not much toxins in my system and super circulatory functions from the very hard rowing workout (sculling). Self awareness helps and a little self therapy. Thanks for asling. Suzzanne sent some empathy.
BMAZ piece today was excellent.
Teddy’s diary today on the problems with police in the Dallas/Ft Worth gay bar also raise a similar question for me. What if you were a jurist and somehow a police investigation of their own behavior were presented as credible evidence? Wouldn’t results of an investigation of ones own self/department/activity be impossible to take as credible?
*laughing* love it!
Evening ES and Katymine.
Cooking here because hot summer temps have not arrived! Basil plants are growing like crazy. Pesto anyone?
Did you have a motorcycle accident?
katy, very good news you feel better. Good work isolating the culprit. Hope there is an easy alternative.
Cooled back down enough here to bake late late at night.. I have a cake in the oven. Strawberry strawberry.
Tonight was lamb steaks grilled on BBQ, stir fried swiss chard with fresh herbs and baked patty mint squash (the ones that are yellow and look like stars) with herbs, bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese….. have left overs for another meal……
Oh so wonderful! We did cranberry date cake for lunches. I miss the nights when I baked EVERY NIGHT for our two children. We were so damn poor.
mmmmmmmmmm….I have this thing about food lately. Three times a day.
Yummy, lamb and all the fixins! I like patty mint squash in stir fry.. never baked them. (not yet)
lol
the last time i was at a jury duty selection, it was clear from the questions that the offense was for a gram of cocaine and it was a third offense. something like a 3-5 year automatic sentence if guilty. the guy was black.
when the judge had heard some of our responses he asked for a raise of hands of how many people could convict if they thought he was guilty and only about half the people raised their hands. he laughed and said, “well, this IS austin.” i did not have to serve after i personally told the judge i couldn’t let a man be sentenced to 3 years of prison for a gram of cocaine. he said, “even if it’s the law?” and i said, “yup”.
Good Night, what a day of turmoil I’ve had.
Pesto???? mmmmmmmmmmm love me some pesto!! We had Basil & Thai Basil in our home grown salad tonight, three kinds of tomatoes, green onion with lettuce, grilled crooknecks, zucchini, baked Yukon potatoes and a real nice marinated London broil!!
Oh that is sad. My last experience was so much better. But thank you for sharing..
my mom used to marinate london broil in just lemon juice and then broil it medium rare. god was that good.
Good for you! I always imagined I would do the same, say so first… not wait and do it covertly.
Nahant dear, I have pesto to share this summer. More later!
Good night CE.. termoil free dreams.
Huge Thai lunch here, shrimp in chili sauce and mystery soup. Went straight from the restaurant to the asian grocery.
Newly planted basils are being chomped (big time) by something resembling small ants. Need to research it and check with mag glass. Fingers crossed something like soap and water spray will help.
well, i did think hard about that option too. because i really didn’t want him to be convicted.
i remember when i still lived in new york and was reading that someone in texas got sentenced to 25 years for being busted with a quantity of pot for personal use. we all thought that texas was unbelievably retarded. now i live here.
I spent all day to get 20 stiches the gash was exposed that long. The odysey was to go to Family care clinic where they said allwas free thanks to an Obama program. After one hour a nurse took BP and O2. Thencame the doc who took a quick look and said he wanted me to go to a hospital.
!. So I went off to French Hospital Energency who would not discuss the cost I would be incurring or how it was to be paid. They finannly said they could use medicare.
Then I waited another 6 hours got 7 exrays and a broken bone in the wrist. I was told to go to an Osteopath. They had one doctor on duty so the hospital was making a profit on slow care.
2.My friend got a fungus in that hospital which she still has after the birth three years ago.
Single Payer I hope. The for profit on illness sucks.
p.s. i like tonight’s music selection. thanks.
the last time I was on Jury Duty they pulled the first 200 jurors for a murder trial, I was late because I could not find parking. The remainder was for the regular business before the county. Even though they were not to ask, they asked us if we were paid for our day because they needed as many of us to cover. There were around 200-25 regulars.
We got to be great friends because our “month” was 5 weeks long. The funny thing is that I actually was seated on a medical malpractice case. Otherwise we heard every DUI and traffic case…… in that month, I served 15 days……
My first hubby was an e.r. doc at French. He was a great doctor. He also worked down in Arroyo Grande.
You sound like you feel better than last night.
did you stay friends with any of them? and i’m curious how it went for you with the medical malpractice case.
That ivory soap and water spay works miracles.. GL.
I would pay handsomely for an asian market…. miss that kind of food a lot.
It sure is a strange place with very twisted authority complexes. I used to drive all through texas on business several times a year. i have a perfect record and looked “normal”… but the harassment was constant… almost never the slightest cause.
nazis
hi Mary I woke feeling no pain and walked without a limp. But the best part of the day was making some progress with the Planning Commision who is hearing the EIR and Coastal development permit application on a County sewer project that will evict 40% OF the Community.
I am an avocate of housing for all income levels. http://www.clih.net
We love Basil and if you haven’t grown Thai Basil…. well ya just don’t know what your missing… Chris If you have some good Pesto recipes please share(:>))
Elmore has been using his ability to talk people through issues that he is very good at. Conservative woman on airplane from FL kept saying we have THE best healthcare system in the world and they saved her life. So he took it out of the personal and talked about how she would measure, cost to other countries, life expectancy, infant mortality…… he thinks she may have turned her around.
What we need to do mentally is separate the actual physical care from the insurance. One of the issues is that somewhere around the Reagan era….. hospitals went from Non-profit to blood sucking profit machines…… I went to nursing school at a very large not for profit hospital, it was a teaching facility where doctors and nurses learned their profession. By taking the money and profit away from the hospital system will help a lot.
I know the hospital I worked at back when Reagan put in the DRG reimbursement system it made a million dollars in profit…….the idea of DRG’s to cut down reimbursement for medicare patients. Didn’t work…….
Jury duty is one *month* in AZ? Surprising they can find jurors.
This was in the mid 90’s so no I haven’t. The medical case was funny, it was the competing hospital that I worked at, kept asking if I know Dr A, B, C etc….. every time I would raise my arm & state professionally. We were all shocked that I was allowed to stay. The case went on for a couple of days, and when the plaintive took the stand she blew it and the next thing we knew we were in the jury room. The settled the case and never heard the outcome (sealed).
g’nite luvlies, see y’all the next time.
No it was Oregon, it was all the weeks of the month so if the month ends on Tuesday then that whole week would be included. I don’t know if they still do it but you would not have to serve again for around 3-5 years and normally with a full jury pool it would only be a few days.
As much as I want to see Daisey on PBS cook friend plantains …. I better head to bed… good night everyone
Nite Katy sweet dreams….
Early day for me tomorrow.. think I should turn in as well.
Good night dawgs
Someone mention Thai basil – love that stuff – one of the things I miss most now – no longer have a garden.
Nice tune tonight and sweet sweet harmonies.
Once I started looking, was surprised at the number of local asian food resources. Lots of sites online, but huge $$$. Toughest finds so far have been galangal and kaffir (?)lime leaves. Ultimately found em in freezers. OK by me – straight from theirs into mine.
hey pups
hey neuro.
I grow it in pots… a sunny window sill would works just great…
Neuro!! Cool down yet??
it was somewhat “cooler” today, low 90s I think
planning to mow the lawn tomorrow, we’ll see how that goes
do it early Neuro… we are now having normal weather …mid 80’s days & 60’s at night … in fact had to close windows it has gotten so cool…
Well it is pumpkin time for me pups… nite all..

Sure wish we could recall that Bi**he… she is as corrupt as they come!
Poof~
Just passing through on my way to bed but is there a reason that the latest diaries list at oxdown isn’t showing the latest diaries and hasn’t for several hours?
Hi Hugh. Have you decided on an online home for your new list?
There is an interesting difference of opinion on the Waxman-Markey bill between Dean Baker:
and Dennis Kuchnich:
There’s more here: http://dailykos.com/story/2009…..-was-right
Don’t know about the list. Waxman-Markey won’t keep us from passing the tipping point into moderate to severe climate change effects. Most of it will take effect long after Obama has left office and the tipping point will have occurred. So you have to wonder how real any of it is. Kucinich is right that it is further burdened down by allowance giveaways, dubious offsets, and bad technologies. Baker’s argument is one we have heard with the TARP and other dumb ideas to address the financial meltdown, that it was better than doing nothing. I didn’t buy that one either. What is needed is good, effective policy, not the worst except one.
