It is freakin’ hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
boing boing
reverse one and a half somersaults with three and a half twists, in the free position, no splash (’natch – except for trolls and bulgarian judges who always get soaked)
g’evening pups
how’s everyone doing tonight?
Still 85 here in Deadwood city… fudge it is freaking hot!!
Hi Suz you must be laughing at all of us now that you are on the COOL Oregon coast///
*laughing* tis a perfect 55 outside with clear skies and a lovely moon hanging over the bay
Great dive! I’ve missed your exceptional water works.
hey ce – how’s ohio tonight?
grrrr
Good evening pups. A bit of rain in montreal, mid sixty to seventy at the moment.
ya are gonna still bake me a peach pie at the meetup at your place on july 25th, right?
q! how ya been?
Hiya Suzanne and Pups,
A lovely 70 degrees and wonderful sunshine today. Writing an essay for work on the screened-in back porch with seltzer and much quiet. Perfect.
Hey,
I want a peach pie!
As re: trolls. I don’t think it’s good to live in an echo chamber. I actually relish discussions with people whose opinions differ from mine. But when all they can do is parrot Faux Noise talking points, and engage in logical fallacy after logical fallacy it is tiresome.
Would someone please tell the GOP that if they have to send us trolls, please improve the quality of the trolls they send. Because this one couldn’t pass an elementary logic class. I really wonder about its claim to have been (or currently is?) a programmer. Bad logic skills generally make for poor programs.
Fine thanks, busy, starting a business, shooting tons of pictures.
Beautiful dive, as always, Suzanne. For those of us in the warmer climes (I think I saw an alligator on the river here in NH)I have ice cold chocolate martinis, garnished with fresh cherries with a chocolate ganache filling.
It is 86 here. I slept for a couple of hours today just to make the night time come sooner. I have a dilemma. Do I stay up late and risk missing an early morning walk? Or do I set the alarm and get less sleep. See. I can over think almost anything.
that is what makes them a troll – their ability to echo the talking points and not rationally discuss the policy differences.
I’ve got one more piece of the apple pie my mother-in-law brought by for Father’s Day, and I ain’t sharing.
Mrs. BC is coming home tomorrow, and she’s SOL on it too, ‘cuz I’m eatin’ it tomorrow with lunch. I think.
Oh man, where are my manners.
Good evening Suzanne, still in Oregon?
Some eye candy:
http://picasaweb.google.com/pi…..H4rcO2yQE#
Strawbs were here last spring, they put up about a hundred of these up on their site.
OMG! I think I just had an orgasm hearing that.
hey beard – thanks for the chocolate martinis
Certainly is toasty around these parts.
;>)
hey bct – best thing to do when a troll craps on your thread is to ignore.
And after lurking all evening — geez what trolls! — can we have some nice recipes for key lime pie or a great grilled pork loin? kaytmine, my hero, and all Pups who support her, go!
a photography business?
db! how ya been my friend?
They always loop back into the same old crap. That one dude today was clearly a lawyer but had lived in a very small room most of his life.
Wake. Work. Sleep. Repeat.
;>)
dammit, i was laughing so hard token jumped off my lap and took off to his bed with a hmmmpffft
Dearest, just like Mr.CE!!!
For you jazz fans out there, here’s a linky to Meredith Willson’s 76 Trombones as performed by Diva, an all-women big band.
Some really hot trombone improvisation, and the woman playing bass ‘bone is one of the best I’ve sort-of heard improvise on the thing. Pity the mike was misplaced for her.
must be one of them brooks bros lawyers
Peach or Apple… I was looking at was available at Safeway today.. But hey who knows in a couple of weeks… But will bake some sort of a pie… Wouldn’t be the same with out it..
sigh – that w word is one mean and nasty 4 letter word
safeway?
I did. I refused to engage. Unfortunately, I did in bmaz’s thread, and Daddy scolded us when he got home.
If these trolls are paid, how are they paid? Anyone know? Is there a liberal outlet that will pay me to troll LittleGreenFootballs or RedState? I know I can do a better job than the hacks they’re sending here.
Yup!! Over thinking = overheating… not good /s
laughing – i think the d’s are a volunteer based organization. maybe it is part of wingnut welfare for those regency grads
Maybe trolling is a hobby for them. Or perhaps they think of it as evangelism. Or maybe they are just stupid assholes who don’t have anything better to do.
Yes, I used to be a pro ante 2000, but with the onset of digital, I figured out it would take about ten years before digital could equate film. Bought my cam last december.
The medium is totally changed, the cam is faster, two stops minimum more in low light. Shooting live shows is a wonderful experience. I can shoot 800 to 2300 pictures in a day. It’s all extremely exciting.
apparition toast!
woohoo! what kiind did you get?
Nice ensemble work there.
…
The Internet still has trolls? Bet they work Pro Bonehead, or on the bottomless Cheeto bowl plan.
;>)
Been over reading my kidney cancer listserv emails…… OMG some patients are in worse shape than me……. a lot worse……
I need some FDL diversion…… btw did anyone know that Jane is in Sweden with John from Americablog…. at some political conference….
yeah I know but I was there… if the neighbor has lots of peaches thats what we will have.
representing dfh style blogging in america.
well, you know someone’s bound to report such sightings…Thought I’d get a step up on the curve, before they become old hat. But it don’t matter if it’s brown or white.
;>)
Thanks katymine,
for a reply. I did see on the great orange that Jane is abroad. So wonderful to see you here fighting like a champ!
with vanilla ice cream
Ya.
I’m a semi-pro bonehead… does that make me a troll?
Maybe if I went to RedState it would, eh?
duh… come on suz what do YOU think???
Got myself a Nikon D700, it’s a full frame chip. Got a 50 mm 1.4, 14-24 2.8 and a 70-200 2.8…
Katymine, so happy to read you.
well ya gotta come in and tell everyone they are stupid and you know the one true way about (fill in subject matter here). then refuse to accept any discussion that disagrees with stated one true way – hijack the thread – and remember to call readers and the writer of the post stupid and anti-american.
that sounds wonderful q – i’ve got my little canon s5is and love it.
I am so jealous. My espon 2400 broke and I am still stuck with the Nikon 5400. If I won the lottery I would shoot pics all day long.
Hey, good to see you.
Suz! Chris, DB, everyone!
oh, so with you…BC and Suz.
hey margot – you enjoying fine ohio weather in your part of the state?
Margot! Such a beautiful night tonight.
I guess I can’t be a troll then …
you are much too smart and nice bct
Margot!!
In the words of one of that ideology’s titular godheads, ‘facts are stupid things’…and there is no rational argument that can’t be negated by the typing equivalent of shouting ‘U.S.A! U.S.A!’ while waving a made-in-Korea flag.
To troll them successfully, one might have to adopt an even more zanier pose to effect infiltration…It could be a risky business, you might not come back the same.
;>)
Yep, it sure is . . . heats still releasing after 9pm or so, but a few more like today (and we’re gonna get them) and the heat won’t fully release till after midnight, if at all . . . . godforsakenvalleythattimeforgot is back!
Gotta admit, Mary, we’ve had a record April, May and June though . . . kewlest one I’ve known since we moved here in ‘88. It was just a matter of time, I guess . . . it IS the valley . . lol
I’ve seen some of your amazing sunsets, Suzanne. one day, I’ll hit the pacific coast to sooth my soul.
Margot, Mary, Christine, bonne soirée.
Well, I’m going to bid you all good night. My insomnia spell is just about over, my sweety’s home tomorrow. I hope I can get to sleep before 2 AM now. I just never sleep well when we’re apart …
I scared the dog with my snort. Glad you like the sound of the chocolate filled cherries MM.
I went to the farmers’ market today and picked up some gorgeous ripe cherries. Some have been pitted and stuffed with chocolate and stored in the freezer for later, and the rest are getting jarred tomorrow with amaretto, vodka, lemon peel and a little black pepper. That’s for this winter
hey larue
Certainly is toasty. Amazingly, it’s top news on Al Jazeera too. And who would have predicted that Al Jazeera now cites TMZ!
g’nite and sleep well bct – i picked up cherries at the stand yesterday beard.
hey loohoo – socal still cool or is it heating up?
I was counting my blessing in the spring. Now I am just HOT.
82F at 10:36 Left Coast. Finally under 80F inside as cave AC battles its way to overcome the heat release.
Yer killin me.
Nice toon, though, thanks! ;-)
Key Lime recipes here (food network)
I know that as well — when we are married for 34 years and travel away as well as together, it is difficult.
now dropped to 54
glad you liked the toon – it made me think of gov hankie pants
Proof of the vast Liberal media conspiracy.

I was just reading a bit, and that DL was chafin my hide a wee bit.
Pure amateur. As they all are.
Funny how Mz. Hamsher, Mz. Wheeler and the FDL Team/Oxdown Villages have attracted some recently CONCERTED efforts from the reichwing nuttosphere . . . .
Must be all the Whips!!! *G*
Umm, my favorite. Includes zesting lime rinds!
DB,
I started my political life in 1972 with the worst mistake I ever made. I voted for Richard Nixon. I was a registered R for a while, because Theo Roosevelt was my political hero. What I didn’t understand (although I knew the fact) was that TR figured out that the Republican party left him.
I figured out after a while that there was no room in the so-called Big Tent for me. I couldn’t buy into their increasingly insane positions. When Ronald Reagan won the Republican nomination I changed my registration to I.
Bill Clinton made me a D. Incurious George Bush made a yellow-dog D. I don’t think that I could effectively pose as a concern troll in a place like RS or LGF. Facts may be inconvenient, but they remain facts and they do have a way of biting you on the ass if you ignore them. Witness the current recesso-depression, caused in large part by people thinking that assuming things to be stochastically independent makes them so.
Unfortunately, a bunch of us (me included) got bit in the ass along with the guilty parties. Maybe worse than the guilty parties got hit, I don’t know.
Anyway, while it might be nice fantasy to troll a Reich Wing place, I couldn’t pull it off.
whip it
You still here, CE?
Key lime pie is easy. 3 ingredients plus a crust.
Easy peasy as my friend from Long Guyland would say.
Tasty, too.
Did I miss anything? Other than the Faux Trollz?
FWDiva
It’s heating up during the day but still cool at night. (No socks though!) Nice.
Hmm, no pork loin this, but, it’s my latest Foodie Friday. Sometimes, I just like to look at the pictures . . . *G*
hey funny d – sure was a gorgeous day today!
I like the lime zest in the whip-cream, or sprinkled on it…
FWDiva
Oh, absolutely, it needs the lime zest. If you can find some, try shredding up some candied lime peel on top. (Every now and then I can find it, and the smell always reminds me of cool evenings after a hot summer day)
Oh! It was, it was! Yesterday, too.
Finally some perfect NW summer–sunny but cool air.
FWDiva
lord love a duck larue – speaking of food – are ya gonna come to the meetup at nahants july 25th and what food are ya gonna bring?
All of the above: in the whipped egg yolks, and on the cream topping. So wonderful.
Those spewing absolutes must be volunteers. Not persuasive, just disruptive.
I’m off to sleep. Horses tomorrow, jumping and dressage. Hi ho silver!
hey sunny
g’nite q
instead of the cigarette smoke smell I get as phantom smells ….. tonight it is strawberries….. like that so much better….
A Peter Mayle’s book on Provence is calling me……. going off to bed……
just remember that all of you are 50% of my support system….. yes it is all long distance and all emotional but that is what I need…… besides I some times get to see people in person…… Cujo357 was down here a couple of weeks ago….you all provide a valuable service and Elmore and I cannot thank you enough……
Night, Q
remember to ride till yer bum is numb!
Wish I was there…
FWDiva
g’nite katymine
Night, Katymine.
We’re blessed, too, knowing you. Don’t forget that, ‘K?!
XOXOXO
FWDiva
Watching “Dark Knight” while hanging here. Lots and lots of explosions. Not paying much attention, and seems really sad.
Oh yeah remember this one?
There’s got to be a way to make it, no? Then put in freezer?
So, do you and CE buy those teeny tiny, tiny little key limes and juice ‘em for pie? I gotta confess, I just buy Nellie and Joe’s Famous in a bottle.
Tastes great, though!
Now…why am I craving something sweet, tart and creamy?
FWDiva
I suspect the mastery of duckspeak, and subjective cognitive dissonance for the underlings (contrasted with cynical relative morality for the straw bosses) is the fuel that fires the jitney now.
It certainly isn’t silly trifles like policies or positions, that’s so old fashioned.
No, I buy the regular “Persian limes” and just juice them. I’ll admit, even these big limes are hard to juice.
Katy night to you sweetie just remember You are in our thoughts and prayers and we are glad to be part of your support team…
I pick up the stuff in the bottle, too. Sometimes, for giggles, I’ll use regular limes, it’s different flavor and equally yummy.
it seems to me that one should be able to freeze the juice and candying the zest would preserve it.
Where’s Nahant at? No likely travel in my future except for Labor Day at BerryFest, and lucky to have that.
This past 6 day sojurn a festing was only possible due to the proximity . . . an hour drive. *G*
redwood city – mary mcc may come down from sac – i think she takes the train and then hitches a ride from a bay area pup.
Redwood city… not so far Larue..
She better ….
Candied lime peel. Nice. Is it sold as an ingredient? candy?
What kind of places sell it?
Suz, an email yer way . . . . and folks, I got to move on. Always a pleasure to drop in and read from some of my fav’s in here . . . best health to all, and best wishes for all our progressive dreams and needs.
Thanks to everyone who shares what they know here at FDL, it makes us all a bit smarter than the average troll, ya think? *G*
candied lime zest is easy to make. recipe
No, not so far Nahant, and I’d REALLY like to meet the wicked prog pups I read in here! *G*
Alas, it’s too far for present circumstances . . . but hey, when jobs pick up, I will to!!
One day!
Night all . . .
g’nite larue
Larue and I should ride together. He has actually been to my house. He knows Mr. Ron.
Night Larue hope you can make it on the 25th!!
One more time, and then I really am going to bed.
Juicing key limes isn’t too awful if you have a stand mixer that accepts KitchenAid attachments. Quarter the limes and run them through the juicer. It works like a charm.
‘night ‘pups.
I am going outside for awhile. It is now 77 out.
mary you gonna bring green bean salad (hint hint)
Thanks for hanging out with us, katymine! Wishing the best for you.
time to get tween the sheets.. or maybe on top of them… night Pups :(>))
g’nite nahant
I sometimes buy key limes now they are more available. Love my wooden reamer, but still tough going. The smaller round mexican limes (not key lime small)work pretty well.
Amazing how cheap they are in hispanic groceries. Not so avocados in my part of the world:(
Sounds good. Thanks!
sunny i’m gonna get one of them kitchenaid mix masters and the juicer attachment.
sunny, i picked up fearless fourteen today at the store – its out in paperback.
Mary!
(sorry, I fell asleep and just woke back up. Snork.)
ack! keyboard face?
No. Whiplash. Nod…jerk!
whew – keyboard face takes a while before the dents leave
Suz, don’t have a juicer. Prolly time. They’re on sale here.
Good news about 14, I’ll look for it. Have you checked out your used bookstore yet? I’m down to reading musty old Lockridges from the 40s/50s.Gotta get rid of them, they smell baaad.
haven’t checked them out yet, sunny, but i did go up to bay city and check out pacific oyster. nothing special. i stopped at a crab shack north of tilly that had all kinda stuff, good prices. picked up a couple sandwiches that were yummy. got the cherries at the fruit stand in front of the crab shack.
that’s a reasonable price sunny. do you have a kitchenaid? i’m thinking real hard about a red one…
Go for it! They’re a joy just to look at and handle. Mine is graphite (?) color/finish. Two things I crave: a second bowl and a copper bowl. Some third party used to sell copper bowls that fit the KA. No longer it seems. (my fave KA activity is whipping stuff).
yep, seems like a good price on the juicer. Maybe I’ll ask santa for one. He’s always looking for easy gifts in a reasonable price range.
Glad you found good sammitches!
thanks sunny – i bought a stainless color one for jen for her birthday (she is 32 today- sunday). i’m hoping her squeals of joy will help push me over the edge to get my own. much easier to buy that kinda stuff for my girls than for me to do for myself. i’m trying to break myself of that and am telling myself i’m just as worthy.
’bout time for me to do an inner eyelid inspection. g’nite pups and thanks for a fun evening.
nite suz (wandered off looking at KA stuff)
wazzzup pups :)
