Let’s hear it for the G-O-PP. It’s not the sex, it’s the lies and the hypocrisy.

All of those areas of interest with the Edwards’ is still way over the top for some one who was no longer in politics and who was no longer involved in the affair.

It is still far more attention being paid to a former pol versus the level of attention being paid to politicians currently holding office.

But as we know it is always a bad thing for a Democrat to have sex. Republicans get to have sexual problems and affairs because they’re “forgiven” automatically. /s

You must remember that initially the MSM all but ignored the John Edwards’ affair and only responded, due to the National Enquire’s persistant coverage. The Edwards’ story was and is more interesting for several reasons: death of their son, Elizabeth’s incurable cancer, purported out-of-wedlock child, the public and media appearances of both and finally Elizabeth’s book.

Leave it to an Ohioan to capture the tone and substance of this scene perfectly. The funniest guys I met in law school (CWRU) were all natives, and one from Kansas who claimed to be the only Democrat in Marion County, and they could be devastatingly funny too. I can’t stop laughing. Thanks!

Plays well anywhere but no place better than the South.

Bingo. My family came to SC from France in the early 1750s. I was the first of the family born out of the state. Even as a kid when folks talked about state or local politics is was all about the old families. Hasn’t changed in 200 years.

Even better with both money *and* influence. Makes ya wonder how carefully these political families are planned out in advance. Let’s see, dear…….we’ll have four stair-step kids……we’re both good-looking…..etc. That picture of the two of them posed with the kids lined up by age/height all gussied up in their little suits and ties and spit-shined hair. Plays well anywhere but no place better than the South.

She figured prominently in his campaign, was even his campaign manager iirc. The Skil influence may have been more important than money.

Kinda makes you wonder how much of that Skil money went to getting him elected. Hey, let’s buy the SIL a governorship.
