What mind?
Good evening from a place where it’s so hot.. I have three beverages in front of me..)
ES!
Late Late Nite!
I can’t decide whether or not I’m sorry that Rachel Maddow took the night off. She’d probably have spent entirely too much time on Jacko’s demise (as Keef already had), and I’d have sat thru it in hopes of something better. Maybe it’s better I could watch 3 episodes of Bones without feeling like I was missing something

Oh, sorry mon.
It was sunny and 70 here today, very pleasantly cool.

Hi FunnyD, I don’t know why, but I just forget about television in summer. Even when I am inside hugging the AC.
All the deaths and the sexcapade made me glad this week. I just loathe television/media reaction to that stuff. It’s one thing to discuss it with folks, but to listen (one way) to others repeat themselves endlessly is just a bit too much. *s* Thank dawg for the intertoobz.
Blueberries are in… peaches and tomatoes will be any day now.
great article on Counterpunch about Obama’s picks for environment related positions:
http://counterpunch.org/stclair06262009.html
including a reminder about Clinton’s record on logging on public lands:
not that I ever voted for Clinton, thankfully, but that issue helped reveal clearly that the Party of the Least Worst can actually often be worse than the more blatantly villainous (R)’s.
a lesson to remember when there is a new suave (D) in power.
Mmmmmm. Fresh fruits and veggs.
We should be getting local strawberries any day now.

I think Rachel took last night and tonight off cuz she just couldn’t do a Jackson hour. Not with so much important other news.
Great music, ES! BOOKER!
Someone told me today, MJ left B of A high and dry to the tune of 200 million bucks. I wonder if we will bailout that as well?
I’ve had so many strawberries my skin color is changing. /s
Doesn’t he look and sound great as ever? I bet the DBT’s were thrilled and a bit intimidated when they first played with the master.
Hi ES…… trying to get some sweet things eaten before baking with Julia comes on PBS….. learned that helped with the late night frig raids….
He’s great. So much music on the net, it’s wonderful!
Hi katymine, you Arizonans cook in summer?
Oh, good for her! I’m actually glad to hear it. I missed both KO and RM last night…guess I di’n’t miss much, eh?!
FWDiva
Listen to or download that Avett Brothers link in the post, Margot and LooHoo… if you have the time i think you both will like it.
Heh. My friend has a different phrase for over-doing the fresh fruit&veg.
But, yeah, summer gets here a bit later than it does where you are!

Poor Shuster.. i tuned in for about three minutes when I first heard the MJ news… and all he could do was repeat about ten words over and over, since he is not inclined to just make stuff up.
When I win the lottery, I’m buying a summer home in San Francisco.
Perrrty!
I use the BBQ a lot, grill as much as possible….. microwave and toaster oven works too……. inside it is cool but from 1-8pm it is high power usage rates……..
Hiya, ES & Pups!
What’s on my mind? Erm, i think i have a mind around here someplace, lemme see *goes off and rummages around*
Wild black raspberries (blackcaps to the locals) are starting to get a blush on ‘em, mebbe another week or so and i’ll be out picking berries in the woods. May even take some vacation days to battle ticks and skeeters in the great outdoors. The berries are so worth it tho.
Hey, FunnyD…
Gotta tell ya that I can’t claim Off-coloratura. That one (and basso blotto and houndentenor too) belong to Peter Schikele in his PDQ Bach disguise.
But I’m really glad you enjoyed How Do You Solve a Problem Like Mark Sanford?
If I had a mind, there would be something on it. Alas, this is not the case.
Oh, of course they belong to the most famous musicolololologist Evar!
But, yeah, somebody needs to make a you-tube of that performance!

*laughing* My friend who lives entirely off the grid came over for a little air conditioned afternoon visit today. These are the only ten weeks out of the year he envies me.
Thought you might like it. *s
Are you in Panama now?
How do you hold a
cloudclown and pin him down?Mornin’/evening (as the case may be), pups -
Has anybody seen Edward Teller? I wanted to ask him the background on comments (and a picture) a reader sent to Susan DuQuesnay Bankston at her blog KissMyBigBlueButt.
Susan apparently doesn’t do permalinks so the URL below is for 26 June and the information is at the top of the page at the moment. Refers to the brouhaha recently raised by palin about a picture of her holding a baby whose face IS NOT that of her son.

Jeebus,
I need to get to bed. My congresscritter (Harry Teague, BlueDog-Oilpatch) is going to be in town tomorrow and holding a coffee with us constituents. I’m going to go whip him personally about HR-676 and making for damned sure there is a useful public option in whatever they’re going to call health care reform.
I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to give him grief over the ACES Act.
Hey wait, you guys gotta link? Am I missing some funky rendition of “My Bonnie Lass, She Smelleth?”
Meet me at a trailhead on Pikes Peak… we’ll think of something. I climbed it the first time in the early seventies (as a little kid). was so taken with my first Aspen tree i managed to dig up a little one and took it all the way to Omaha, certain it would grow. *s*
Here’s my first draft at it. I was tinkering with it a little again today so it scans a bit better, so this isn’t the finalest version, but it’s close.
At this point it exists only in the theater of the mind. But I’ve got a friend who has the score from Sound of Music and another who has a couple of synths.
We might be able to gin up an actual performance of it.
Cottonwoods weren’t close enough?
Yeah BC! Can you get it on camera? (youtube)
Hah! Hilarious!
Ya know, that just won’t help. Over the last bunch of years I’ve hit a couple of the 14-ers and there’s still no-mind. :)
Not to my little eyes… not then, not now. Cottonwoods make magnificent Blue Heron nesting quarters on the river below my house, but the seeds sure foul up a fishing lure.
No, I’m here in San Diego. My place in Panama has been rented out, but today I got an email that he’s been fired and going back to Hawaii. The whole freaking world is falling apart.
If we do, it’ll be on camera for-sure.
I’ll have to check to see if this qualifies as fair-use. The Rodgers & Hammerstein Library are real assholes about rights.
“Lonely Goatherd” and “Climb Every Mountain” are coming to my mind, with wicked words that don’t scan but seem fun.
You GO, BC!
I’m glad you liked it.
I’ll report tomorrow night. I don’t really expect much out of Harry, but maybe I can shame him somehow.
“Sure the AP with a gleaming glote heard “Lady, o de lady, odle oo!”
Good luck, sure seems like a public meeting with public officials should trump fair use… if the library agreed to the event in the first place.
taking off to bed……
enjoy your fresh fruit & veggies….. they are pretty much spent here until fall. we have two growing seasons…… spring and fall….. funny how my green peppers that I planted before I went to Greece last year are going gang busters…..
nite everyone
want to shame a blue dog? My first thought is apply common sense (for the others around you) and point out (in some firm manner) just how far from fiscally conservative anything other than single payer really is.
Good night sweet tooth. /s
Oh, in fair use I was referring to my parody of Maria. It’ll be a couple of weeks before I could get the forces together to actually put the thing into 1’s and 0’s.
As far as meeting with Harry tomorrow goes, everything is fair use. I intend to follow your strategy in 49. It might actually have a chance of working with Harry. He’s actually run several businesses and made payrolls. He knows what health insurance actually costs. We’ll see what we see.
Nighters, katymine. Enjoy the bell peppers!
Good luck and we’ll look forward to hearing how it goes.
Boy.. I would pay admission to see BC debate a Blue Dog on this issue.
I’m blushing…
And I’m heading off to bed.
Good night, ‘pups.
This is where we get ourselves in trouble… every time.
U.S. grants support Iranian dissidents
good night BC
I know ‘nuttin about military issues, but it occurs to me that maybe it would be possible to use our military might in a positive way? I imagine our good guys parachuting in and saving the day for the green-clad Iranians. You know, day dreams.
I don’t know LooHoo.. the odds of us doing anything with honest good intentions, much less successfully, seem to be less than zero.. considering the last 45 plus years of constants lies, nasty intentions, and miserable failures.
But maybe I’m just crazy.
I seriously doubt that state dept money will make it past the spooks and their nefarious intentions… none of which has ever been democracy that I can tell. We should stay way far away from Iranian internal matters… it’s the best chance good dissidents have at this point.
Can you imagine what the wingnuts and the main stream media would do if Progressives had Iranian backing / support? It wouldn’t be helpful here.
I know. It just pisses me off that we spend so much on our military, and that when people are literally begging for help (via Nico Pitney) we’ve got nothing.
Like I said, I know nothing.
I don’t know a lot either, but it seems that there is no apparent leader or structure for a new party over there. Had either of the two candidates won, the same old power structure / players would have remained intact (as they do now). The activist folks in the schools and cities did not have rural support as well… so a national strike did not happen. Now does not seem to be the time for change over there.
It’s been fascinating from afar.
Time for me to turn in…
Good night.
Night, ES. Me too.
Nice to see some Athens boys headlining!
I blame Mark “King David” Sanford
Swine Flu Detected in Argentine pigs
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins, Blow, Herbert and Cohen today. Ms. Collins looks at “The S. C. Firecracker” and says the public can look past a politician’s plain-vanilla affair. The problem comes when so much is piled on to what started out as a little treat that it begins to look unnerving. Mr. Blow, in “The Prurient Trap,” says conservatives used sexual morality as a weapon and now it’s shooting them in the foot. Mr. Herbert sees “No Recovery in Sight,” and says economists say that the recession may end sometime this year, but the unemployment rate will continue to climb. That’s not a recovery. That’s mumbo jumbo. From Tehran Mr. Cohen tells of “Iran’s Second Sex,” and says Iran’s women stand in the vanguard against the state and the men who have accepted their discrimination.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got eggs Benedict or eggs Florentine this morning. The iced tea, lemonade and ice water are also in the fridge, because we’re looking at temps hovering around 100° today. Time for me to head outside and do stuff in the garden before it gets too hot to be out there. Have a great day.
Knock, knock, knock
Slow morning at the Lake. What’s on your agenda for the day?
Desperately need to work in the yard and hoping that it drys out. It has been very wet here and raining every day. Still haven’t hit the 90s temp wise ( not that I am complaining about that) but it has been weird.
I have work in from 9am to 5pm (4pm if i can sneak out early), then i will probably see Transformers 2 for the sheer joy of it. Bad reviews and all with my roomie.
Then come home and keep the hunt for a new place to stay, as my current roomie is moving to Wisconsin in august. I want a new place in the art quarter of this town, so i’ve a few potentials. We’ll see.
Looks to be pure michigan, hot and mugggy today with lots of sun.
Coolest June in a long time (ever?) in the mid-Hudson Valley, and very very wet. Managed to get my paths mowed yesterday right before the thunderstorm dropped another half inch. There are still places in my paths that are wading pools, though.
Ooops, yesterday’s weather sez there was almost another inch of rain.
Yesterdays storms were very windy here. Took branches out of trees etc.
We’ve been close to 100 on different days……discomfort level dependent on breeze and humidity. Had almost 9/10 inch of rain from a thunderstorm late yesterday which was badly needed……have decided not to try to keep what little grass I have alive by “artificial” means this summer so every little bit from the sky is greatly appreciated, not to mention not having to water the potted stuff for one day.
alias – Good luck with the lodging search!
Mornin’, eCAHN. Did you get all your trees planted?
Morning all. Anybody awake this morning?
