No longer content with his already developed skills of plumbing and Republican Spokeperson for Real Americans, Wurzelbacher has now added channeling Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin to his growing list of abilities. His forthcoming book What The Founding Fathers Really Meant will be released shortly.

Leaving the risk of stating the obvious aside,

Wurzelbacher said of the Founding Fathers: “They knew socialism doesn’t work. They knew communism doesn’t work.”

I’ll leave socialism for someone else to discuss.

The American Constitution was ratified in 1787. Karl Marx, generally given credit for being the founder of the philosophy of Communism, was born in 1818. His book Manifesto of the Communist Party was written in 1848. Das Kapital was written in 1867.

It must be part of what has made the United States such a great nation that our Founding Fathers knew, sixty years before it was conceived, that Communism doesn’t work.

Joe, what did they think about Don’t Ask - Don’t Tell? How about intercontinental air travel?

If we were smart, we’d raise money to keep this loon on the road spewing nonsense thru 2010.

Then start a new collection for road trips thru 2012.

When I heard that Joe the Plumber (who is not named Joe and is not a Plumber - which says something about Republicans, I guess) had left the party, I wryly commented to a friend that the aggregate IQ of the Republican party had now surpassed that of a dead mackeral. Hearing that Joe is still (or again) in the party lowers that aggregate IQ to around that of a bag full of hammer handles.

I heard that, in a fundraising event last month, Joe engaged in a ”smart-off” against a paper clip and a stale Cheez Doodle. Joe came in second - but only because the paper clip was disqualified for being non-organic.

I think that, when John Stuart Mill said that ”Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives” he was being optimistically charitable.
