It’s hard to predict just what will rise to that level to precipitate that in this country. For the most part, marches/demonstrations/peaceful protests were lightly attended, lukewarm events, few and far between. At least, here in the “heartland.” As SD mentioned, we do have a hardy group of souls who’ve been standing at a major intersection outside Lockheed Martin, at bridges over troubled freeways, etc. for the past, oh, six years, plus or minus. The excesses of some of the Nam era marches embedded this image in a lot of folk’s heads. They’ve had people swerve towards them, throw things at them from fast moving vehicles, listened to 10 tons of verbal abuse. Most of them are older than me.
