Bush didn’t wrest these powers from Congress. Congress didn’t give a shit when he exercised them!

No President would give up powers gained from prior Presidencies, except one who cared more about the Nation and the balance of power than his/her Presidential power.

Other than talking a good game, Obama has squandered and continues to squander his power and popularity for his perceived pragmatic approach to governance through bipartisan compromise (less is more).

PS The more I listen to John Dean and see his intellect shine through, the more I realize how vain and corrupt our election/selection process is. He, I believe, puts Obamas reasoning power, intellect and honesty in question by comparison.

The conservatives under George Bush were fine when he and Dick Cheney refused to release their visitor logs, but now that we have a Democrat in the White House…suddenly!….they are interested in transparency! And aren’t they lucky they have liberals on their side to go after that brown guy with them!

What are we all hoping to find on the Obama visitor logs? Something so bad it will justify all those who have hated his guts from January 20, 2009 at noontime to this minute? I bet if we find out that there’s nothing of interest on the list, some will spin it to make it look scary, though.

Teddy (#10)- Yes, many people warned about the next president keeping, and using, the secrecy powers and “executive privileges” of the Bush regime. In fact, I had many discussions with my conservative friends, who were all for the Bush power grabs, in which I pointed out “So, how comfortable will you be with a Democratic President using these same powers?” It didn’t compute for them- they seemed to be unable to grasp that there would not always be a Republican President. I wasn’t happy when Bush did it, and I’m not happy when Obama does it. (Not that I’m comparing the two, but still…..)

Nor do the corporations give back an dime of what they were allowed to steal or let go of the policies that gave it to them.
That’s why we’re going to get a crap healthcare bill. I wish they’d just leave it alone if they can’t do anything better than the “Credit Card reform” bill. Gad! everything seems to be getting worse not better.
