twas a lovely day here today – overcast and then a great straight down rain a couple hours before sunset. after the rain passed there was some sun breaks illuminating all the green. very pretty.

THE ROW:Into a stiff West wind for 1.5 miles to the sand spit so arrived spent andI thought I would relax and enjoy thw warmth in the sand and the panoramic view. So I walked around a bit after I landed and pulling the scull ashore. I watched as some kayakers paddled by while I leaned against the warm dune the crabs were out of site…then another group of kayakers went by. Time to move… to my surprise my boat was on its way back to the dock sans me. So I ran down the beach and hit the water to catch it the slippery bottom with eutrophied ell grass causing slippage of the feet as I half crawled and swam in the 2.5 feet of water. I got it breathless, shimied in and rowed to shore. The water was warm so it was all fun. ” There goes your boat”.

It’s green and lots of things are growing. Stuff I don’t even want to grow is growing. I have no idea what some of the flowers are in my flowerbed, they’re volunteers, but they’re pretty.

I realized that on my street, there are very few employed men. My 18-yr-old son is one, my 80+ yr old neighbor is another. People getting laid off all over and it really hurts.

Not even close. I taught Suzuki Institute kids last week, fished this week, and begin teaching my summer university course this coming week. But I shall prevail on the painting! Ms ET gave me some urging on it today.

Hey Suzanne. Sounds like you’re having some pretty nice weather. I love the “June gloom,” but it has all but disappeared in SoCal. Fortunately, the temps are still cool, but that won’t last long.

i’m enjoying it – rain and silvery overcast skies and all. i love how the weather is so changeable up here. warming up nicely at nite – into the 50’s which is great sleeping weather.

I postponed thumb surgery. The house painting and shop re-roofing can’t be done with my hand in a cast.

Ms ET just got hired for a real cool job, where she will be traveling to the Alaska Bush – mostly Alaska Native communities – and mentoring first-year teachers there. So, I’m not sure when I’ll be able to have the surgery. At least between VA, and two insurance policies, the costs of the surgery won’t be outrageous.

I agree with that, but what is deadly is the fact that he doesn’t know anything about economists. Specifically, IMHO, he doesn’t know much about the “insiders”(aka “Rubinites”) he selected to run his economic program and about the “outsiders” whom he has chosen to exclude.

The most serious problem is that he thinks he can surround himself and manage through an army of insiders who know that presidents are transient, while the insiders will be affecting their careers forever:

And you’re right – his insights into ‘which school from which to pick his team’ should be better, judging from where he comes.

I don’t think he has an econ theory of his own. But curiously his picks are like defense and intelligence – some of the same red-assed fuckers who got us into this mess, I think he thinks he can bend them to his worldview. What he doesn’t realize, IMHO, is that he could not have chosen better for the banksters if he had simply handed the chore to Goldman Sachs. Which, strangely enough, he has done.

She’s really happy. When I was in my late 20s & early 30s, I got to see a lot of Alaska through my work. She hasn’t spent much time in the real Alaska, which is somewhat like a third-world country. She’s pumped.

I don’t know when I’ll reschedule. All I do know is that playing piano or any keyboard instrument is getting absurd, so it needs to get done.

i postponed my total knee until i just could not any more. you will know when the time is right. in the mean time, don’t overdo in your attempt to get everything done beforehand.
