I’m trying really hard to maintain my equilibrium today, but with all the health care bullshit and the news of record-breaking Goldman Sachs bonuses, all it takes is one straw. And Missouri State Representative (Republican, natch) Cynthia Davis is that straw:
Churches and other non-profits can do this at no cost to the taxpayer if it is warranted. [...] Bigger governmental programs take away our connectedness to the human family, our brotherhood and our need for one another. [...] Anyone under 18 can be eligible? Can’t they get a job during the summer by the time they are 16? Hunger can be a positive motivator. What is wrong with the idea of getting a job so you can get better meals? Tip: If you work for McDonald’s, they will feed you for free during your break. [...] It really is all about increasing government spending, which means an increase in taxes for us to buy more free lunches and breakfasts.
In case you’re asking yourselves, "Who the hell is Cynthia Davis?", her website is quite informative.
Prior to her public service, Rep. Davis and her husband opened Back to Basics Christian Bookstore in 1989, and was a recipient of the O’Fallon Business Association’s "Business of the Year Award".
Nice Christian ethic you have there, Ms. Davis. So much for all that hippie Jesus talk about loaves and fishes.
By the way, Cynthia, have you met MeMe Roth? I think you’d get along famously. You both seem to think starving’s a good thing.

‘Hunger can be a positive motivator’
Now I’ve heard it all. This is your compassionate conservatism.
Finally a politician offering a solution to the childhood obesity epidemic. Why wait until they are teenagers? Require infants to find jobs so they can pay their own way. Sticking that nipple in their mouth for free just gives them a false sense of entitlement.
This Christian is appalled by Cynthia Davis’ attitude.
Someone pretty important to the Christian faith said, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
And in different translation, “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
Sigh,
Heather
Definitely short a few cards in the deck. She demanded that another Representative not be allowed to speak unless he was standing and the man has been in a wheelchair for 20 years! Nice Christian lady?
Where is it written that I don’t have the right to raise me some spoiled, selfish little jerks?
Tucker Carlson comes to mind. He’s pretty svelte.
That nipple is the opiate of… FDR! That’s it – FDR!
Great job wt.
I think Cynthia’s district is at the extreme western edge of the St. Louis metropolitan area. I’d like to know the unemployment rate in her district.
From Cynthia Davis’ wiki entry. Missourians should be very proud.
‘Hunger can be a positive motivator’
Spouting lines like that, she’ll have a bright future with the queen-makers of her party.
Slide over Sarah Palin. You’ve got competition.
Yeah hey, why stop at 16 years old. Let’s lower the working age to 12…or even better 8 years old, and they can chow down at break-time at McDonalds and other fast-food franchises, too! If enough kids are slinging burgers and working the deep-fryer, we can cancel the entire school lunch/breakfast program.
Y’know, if we dropped public school and had the kids work the full day, they could get TWO meals!
Let’s call it “The Juvenile Employment and Nutrition Opportunity Act”.
(Yes, extra snark here. My god, these times really show us the ‘compassion’ and ‘empathy’ of the GOP and its ideals. Bill Maher is right — the Republicans aren’t right wing anymore — they’re the bats**t crazy party now.)
Good luck with that. Not sure I’ve ever seen a greater attention whore in my life. Sayrah should’ve been the one named “MeMe.” Just ask her kids…all five of them.
If you’re hungry you should learn to hate the government… and thank God for McDonalds.
OT. Hey bonkers, i found a new song with your name on it. *s*
Mooselini ain’t givin up the limelight to no Wayward Christian Soldier floosey! No sir.
Hunger can be a positive motivator
What would Jesus do? Nevermind……
The republic Party = Insane Clown Posse
From what I understand, her district is filled with those who fled St. Louis because those who were not as white as they had moved in.
we need those little fingers and hands to grease the shell casings
HA! Damn, that’s some cool shit. Glanced at some of his other vids…”Nike Town” was great too! Thanks for that.
so true, and then there is Bristol, and Willow Piper, and Trig……….Palins are the new Bushs
Alaska Dynasty…rollover JR
Maybe Sarah can lend Cynthia the RNC wardrobe when she’s done with it.
heheheheheheh

Sarah is really the gift that keeps on giving…..she is so very funny
Uh, Ms. Davis? Have you seen the unemployment figures in this country right now? 16 year olds are having a very difficult time landing a job because all of the displaced adult workers are grabbing them up first. And all of the other workers, in an attempt to hang on to some semblance of a job and income, have agreed to concessions in wages and benefits all while the corporations and banks are raising energy and food costs and nonsense fees.
What a wonderful world.
Exactly!

Ms. Cynthia is waiting for you to tell her she’s doing a good job.
Won’t they have to get it back from whatever nonprofit(s) they supposedly donated her wardrobe to?
That was one of oddest moments from that whole sordid affair known as the McInsane campaign. When caught they say, “Uhhhh….yea, we’re donating her clothes to charity! Yea, that’s the ticket!”
There’s nothing the Red Cross needs more than a blouse doused in Paylin’s armpit sweat.
Be interesting to see what her charitable donations have been.
I believe they have given Sarah the option of taking the clothes, but she’ll have to pay taxes on them.
AH-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Like that’ll happen.
mebbe some LEWINSKY stainns?
Rather, FIRST DUDE stains. Now that would be brilliant. They could auction them for a mint on Ebay.
Seems as though Rep. Davis and her GOP cohorts neglect history as far as we as a nation tried that charitable nonsense. We moved on to better remedy it.
Gee, would you want Reverand Haggart giving you food for sex?
Now Newt Gingrich would be a huge donating man to the cause of feeding children, now wouldn’t he?
I guess conservative means repeating history over and over no matter how poorly it reflects in the books and minds of those that survive it to remember.
And people think Amadenajhad of Iran is nuts for denying the Holocaust ever took place.
The children I teach come to school hungry every day. I spend a portion of my salary keeping healthy snacks for them to eat and paying for their lunches if they can’t afford to and haven’t gotten the paperwork filled out for free/reduced lunches yet.
Many kids hate the weekends and summers off from school because it means no more regular, hot meals because even though we are a summer food program site, they have no transportation to get there.
Those who can come up with transportation do show up to the summer breakfast and lunch program, in humility, and eat the partially defrosted sandwiches and a piece of fruit while their also-hungry parents wait for them. No seconds and no take-out allowed! Like all government programs, there is some waste because the leftovers are thrown away rather than passed out to the hungry to take. If they would let them, many would be glad to take the leftovers home to share with the rest of their starving families.
This creature, Rep. Davis, is not human. Anyone who feels that letting children go hungry doesn’t deserve the label “human”. There are numerous studies showing that brain development is hampered by both lack of proper nutrition and stress from worrying about not having enough to eat. Some children in America actually eat dirt or grass to keep their stomachs full to stave off the very painful cramps that come from not eating enough.
Christianity aside, compassion and caring should be requirements for anyone holding public office — I believe that’s what the founders had in mind when they were talking about providing for the commonweal. I don’t know that I can grow more disgusted with conservatives than I already am. And my traditional Republican grandfather, who never let a soul within his purview go hungry his entire life, is spinning in his grave. . . .
In plain english, what that set of responsibilities means for Missouri is this:
You be f***ed.
Along with Gov Palin, Rep Davis is yet another republican spokeswoman for a brand of christianity I no longer recognize.
Alas, she has managed to reproduce an alarming 7 times. I’d like to think that lack of compassion isn’t a genetic flaw she has passed on to the next generation.
Does she withhold food from her 7 little tykes in order to “motivate them?” More likely it is our children that ought to experience daily hunger.
Rep Davis is a disgrace. Please let us know when this congresscritter is up for reelection and I’ll gladly send her Democratic opponent a contribution and ask my friends to do likewise.
Bless you.
Teachers deserve not only decent pay, but the respect of all of us for choosing a tough, but noble and worthwhile profession.
I hope our educational system under Obama supports, rewards and encourages you and all the other teachers in our country. You follow a hero’s path.
Keep on speaking out!
Wow, I didn’t know Marie Antoinette was alive and well and living in Missouri.
I live just south of the area this woman is from. First of all, my daughter works at McDonalds and they pay for the food they eat. They get one free small drink per shift. They don’t pay for the food for long, because it makes them physically ill. Everyone has to remember a fellow named Tom DeLay right? Well, your seeing the results of his meddling in elections. This woman’s district is made up entirely of people that think just exactly like her. No one will ever vote against her. Sort of like Michelle Bachmann. Everyone thought El Tinklenburg had it sown up and the crazy one still won. We will be seeing the effects of this redistricting for decades to come.
There won’t be a Democratic candidate running against her. Tom DeLay and his fellow minions in the Republican party made sure of that, and the Republican party in Missouri is a particularly nasty lot. Ever hear of a little thing called redistricting? There are no Democrats in her district, nor are there in many districts across the US. That’s why you’ve seen such an increase in their nastiness, they don’t have to worry about not getting reelected.
Here’s some more on Cynthia Davis. Seems she is joining a lawsuit questioning the citizenship of Obama. http://www.firedupmissouri.com…..cy-lawsuit
I guess you are a Christian if you call yourself one. The word has become devalued.
So our “connectedness to the human family” is improved by letting people starve?
cynthia davis represents a small exurb town named o’fallon missouri. it is on the extreme western edge of metropolitan st louis. it is quite a long commute from the poverty and scary black people of north st louis. that’s the reason all those white people moved out there 10 and 15 years ago, imo, based on my travels out there.
notice that she talks about getting a job at mcdonald’s. that’s just about the only jobs out in o’fallon, and i think i smell a racial ‘tell’ in that choice. st. charles county is the home of the big mcmansion and the very big suv, and they regularly vote for paleo-cons such as jim talent and todd aiken. don’t forget, these are the missouri voters who loved that special christianist, john ashcroft.
The part that they don’t understand is when it would cost anything. It shouldn’t cost them anything, as they see it. Even if they’re rich enough that their becoming obese from eating too much and moving around too little.
here’s the comment i sent her=
Rep Davis,
Re hunger being the best motivator towards a work ethic = you are so right! Instead of feeding kids, they should get a job at McDonalds and be fed for free. This is brilliant! We need to reduce the age kids can work to 10 or so, (actually, when do kids start to get hungry? At Birth! And their mothers feed them without making them work for it! Evil mothers! Babies should scream with hunger for an hour before being fed to teach them that food is too precious a commodity for the likes of them.
Good work, Rep Davis! Keep it up!
Do good Muslims have children’s workhouses?…like good Christians?
Ratfood(#2)…wonderful snark…thanks…but why stop there…why are in-utero babies given a free ride at their mother’s expense?…start starving them in the womb!
MeMe Roth (don’t eat!) is an unfortunate delivery system for the eat healthier message.
