Hi, Suz!
hey mary mcc
hey shadowstalker
how’s everyone doing tonight?
I stepped out of the shadows today, and now am deservedly sunburnt. Oops!
ouch – first sunburn of the summer is always the one that hurts the most
Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…! 8-)
aloha ct – how’s the mt tonight?
Reminds me of the many tourists that head straight to the beach from the plane…! ;-)
aloe vera and lukewarmish showers to help draw out the heat
Gorgeous sunset on the way up…! It’s looking like a clear brisk nite tonite… forecast anticipates 2 degrees C with 20-30 mph winds…!
sigh and yikes! that’s gotta be quite a shock to the body when ya get up top.
Fron the news box Frank Rich does an opinion of where Obama is and where he beeds to be by the summers end…no pun intended. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06…..ef=opinion
I’d like to say that I’m used to it already, but….! ;-)
hey bb – how was your row today?
Ali Akbar Khan & Swapan Chaudhuri – Nat Bhairo (1981)
Haven’t been around the last few days, Ali Akbar Khan died on Thursday.
some things just can’t be gotten used to (brrrrr)
Today and yesterday shoveled dirt…six hours today. There are a lot of skills, believe it or not, that can make it easier. Gotta get some chicken manure. Will row in the morning…the pump is creating unbelievable anastampsis in my circulatory system following rhe coacjing online helps just making the body do it is the challenge. Yhe wind and waves draw a lot of energy/ How are you doing?
hey mr why – summer solstice is beautiful music. thank you and i’m sorry.
I’m doing noxzema and aspirin, and am back at the phosphorus screen, where I belong. Every year, I forget how easily this night person burns.
Trying to follow the situation in Iran. There go some brave citizens. Makes me feel vaguely ashamed of myself as an American. They’re risking everything for their beliefs.
Brisk.
(Had to find a C-F converter – never remember the formula)
reminds me of the pakistani lawyers in their suits on the streets.
i keep tripping over the fact that the cia was involved in overthrowing their government the year before i was born and we are still meddling.
i wish our government would pay as much attention to the needs of its own residents.
hey sunny – did you like the alvin the next morning?
Thanks for that…I heard of his death today, heard a short clip from an interview with him. Beautiful music.
hey margot – how’s ohio?
Rich is right about how pathetic the Geitner/Summers ‘reform’ truly is and you might as well toss in the healthcare ‘reform’ to boot…! 8-(
noxzema – a summer camp scent.
amazed it’s still around.
Shit !
I was rooting for the dog.

Heh… I knew someone would be gullible enough to look…! ~25 degrees F…! ;-)
dial up :(
i’m doing ok bb – back has been tweaky this week but seems to be better. am going to see my grandkids on monday – the girls are out for their summer visit with their dad and jen. have’t seen them since right after the wedding last may.
Our government doesn’t need to pay attention to us, good little sheeple that we are. It’s a sad, sad deal, and won’t correct until we perceive the risks are necessary.
I’m not advocating violence, per se, But…mass movement does seem to get noticed by our elected servants.
only when it is politically expedient to notice it about another country.
all those anti-war protests prior to the iraqi invasion were unnoticed and under-reported.
As I mentioned here on Thurs. nite that we should be taking lessons from the Iranians… and to think that the Father of Civil Disobedience was American, Thoreau…!
elected servants.
An interesting concept !
Two things:
I wrote an Oxdown diary on the new House Healthcare Reform bill. I reviewed the summary “page”.pdf and wrote a few things about it. I hope it’s put up on Oxdown.
I’ve been thinking all day about Pakistan, Al Qaeda and how that’s progressing. I think the Taleban & Co forces are trying to hit back with terrorist-style attacks in Pakistan and possibly beyond. I think we know their typical travel routes, their way of communicating, their network of friends (at least in general) and what they’ve done before. The Pak military is pushing them hard in Pakistan with our presence in Afghanistan back-stopping. I hope we’re cooperating on intelligence with the Pak military too. Beyond AfPak it’s a bit harder to be sure of what is connected to what. I suspect they’re reaching out to all their trade partners to create any kind of counter-attacks they can (they’ve been small or non-existent so far). Knowing how they’ve acted in the past I suspect their friends in Europe have been contacted and they’re probably working on something nasty. Of course, they’d love to his us here in America again. If they have trouble getting anything off the ground in Europe, then does that mean they’re less or MORE likely to come to America.
I suggest keeping close attention to travelers, chatter in Europe and international bank transfers from the M.E. to America. Finding people in Pakistan may be difficult, but if they connect with bad people elsewhere then we also have to catch them too. As time goes by they might have more opportunities to start things. We need to keep pushing hard in Pakistan and succeed as quickly as possible. If it lasts there will be more time for them to generate problems for us.
If you were an AQ member in Europe, where would you be? London, Hamburg, Marseilles or Amsterdam? What trail of information would lead to you? If we’re thinking out ahead of them then there’s a better chance of ambushing them as they travel.
BTW, am I the only one who still worries about an AQ attack? Oh well….
hey bbugs
hey markh
They’re going to make the journey up to Oregon…?
markh’s ox diary
The false flag ops are in high gear and Khomeni knows it. It may be going to get uglier. The foriegn embassies are supporting the protesters. I have mixed feelings…surpression by force sucks. The mediation was short lived an a coup is being attempted I think. So will the West set up a puppet government and the deposed start terror campaigns. I hope not.
the grandgirls’ mom’s husband was transferred from alaska to ky (he’s a coastie). the girls spend every summer with dad (jen’s husband). when i moved up here in august, they had already returned to their mom’s for the school year.
Hi Suzanne
Honestly, I think the 12 members of the Guardian Council will be forced by the lower group(can’t recall the name…) of 86-7 ayatollahs to remove Khamanei and Ahmanejad…!
What’s a coastie doing in Kentucky…? ;~)
Quite a bit going on behind the scenes Khomeini may be on the way out
We could have a story similar to the Tiananmen Square “Tank Man” in the sad death of a young woman named Neda.
http://egoblog.net/2009/06/21/her-name-was-neda/
Her death was caught on video, and her story is spreading around Iran and the world as we type. She could end up doing more for the movement than she ever would’ve dreamed.
Unlike China, which covered up the Tank Man story so much that something like 90% of the Chinese population never knew Tank Man ever existed, Neda will be a martyr for the ages.
Tienemen Square, part deux, anyone? That’s where I see it going, quietly encouraged by neocons…who then have an excuse to try to force Obama into the attack they crave.
ohio valley rivers dood
Noxzema may still be around, but I can’t find Keri lotion anywhere…but here’s some good news from Raw Story:
That’s true it’s a ‘navigable’ waterway…!
hey bonkers
Good for you, Suz. Will you be around or will you get a sub?
If McCain had been elected ,we would have launched a full scale attack by now
CNN showed video of her, but they’d blurred out her face…
monday is my night off so i’m headed over to the portland area monday after i get up.
hey loohoo – how’s socal tonight?
Obama does not have many new faces in the CIA and other intel groups…neocan leaning everywhere. I agree the neocons quietly pushing levers of power…to destabilize and shock doctrine through the back door.
Heading to the showers and sleep.
Have a good evening all. Live in peace
Isn’t that video incredible. I’ve never watched anyone die before. Getting out green ribbons here. (((NEDA)))
We’ve spent years experimenting with different lotions/creams for all the different ailments for ourselves and our kids. We’ve settled on this company for just about everything.
http://www.healin-hollers.com/salves.htm
Almost bizarre how well their stuff works. Seem like magic potions, literally. Get some mosquito bites? Put on their Chickweed Salve and they’re gone within 10 minutes or so and you never feel like itching. Crazy stuff.
It’s as organic and Mother Nature-derived as possible. (I have connection to them whatsoever…just stumbled upon them at a local natural foods co-op.)
g’nite bb
‘ello.
Not going to work for the neocons this time. Americans have a whole new view of Iran. I’m guessing most Americans saw burquas and Taliban types when they pictured Iranians after the BushCo propaganda. Now people see Iranians in a new light and will not stand for the bombing of Iran.
oooooh, since i’m the local skeeter flavor of the month, i’m gonna have to check that out
thanks
Still damp and cool, which helps with the water rationing-type bills. Garden’s growing really well, though, and I had a crop of 11 peas and 3 yellow squash!!
yup – when was the last time it was ok for americans to root for the iranian people?
Aloha, bb! My first shift is almost upon me… Need to get suited up… I’ll see ya’ll in about an hour, if not… Caio…! *g*
if i had my choice between dry and hot and damp and cool, i’d pick damp and cool every time.
aloha ct – i should still be around
Absolutely. Now the question is who will they prop up as the next boogeyman with which to control John Q Nascar with fear. I’m guessing China again. China’s always there for them in the back pocket when needed.
Remember how they were doing that shortly before the WTC was destroyed?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H…..d_incident
The “incident” dominated that news cycle.
Thanks! Bookmarked. I used Keri as a medium for foundation cuz it is the only thing I could find with enough moisture (since Revlon quit making Moon Drops!) I have tried everything…hope your suggestion works.
I hope that’s the case, but it goes back to the “elected servants” thing again. What would we, the people do about it? Go shopping? Put green flags on our truck antennae?
And then there’s Panama! Damp and hot.
That IS great news on the prostate cancer front.
Never was a Keri lotion person, but noticing an odd trend – old, respected names reappearing on chinese crap at dollar stores. Strangest was a pair of nasty earrings marked Peck & Peck. Also some vile stuff labeled Yardley.
I think it would be appropriate for us to have a day of green in solidarity with the Iranians, but then where’s my megaphone?
Highly recommended.
The latest product that wowed me is this Witness Oil they make, where I was developing some “age spots” on my hands, and within 2-3 weeks of daily use, the spots are gone completely, just as they said it would do. Same for my better half. Weird.
They say they make the oils and most other products by letting the batches of ingredients sit in big jugs in direct sun for weeks to let Mother Nature do her thing. Seems to be working for us!
HA! I remember Yardley from the EARLY days of the Beatles. It was an English brand, though it may have been bought out by the Chinese.
Took my dip in the lake !
Good night all !
i used keri oil when it was discovered i was allergic to most commercial soaps. dermatologist told my parents to have me soak in keri oil for 20 min for my bath.
i use handmade soaps now (sparingly tho) but still soak in oils.
g’nite bbugs – twas nice to see ya again
wasn’t jean shrimpton the face of yardley?
Keep in mind, they mean it when they say there are no preservatives or fillers added. It’s all much more “natural” looking and smelling than anything you’ll get at a CVS/Walgreens type place.
We’ve been so happy with the results now that we actually prefer the scents and look of their products. We’ve tried many of their products, so don’t hesitate to ask about our experience with any of them. Good luck!
Nico:
Thanks. Have a pretty good co-op here, will look for it.
the chickweed and the summer scent are very tempting.
as are their other balms and salves. i see on their home page they have a book with photography of medicinal plants.
It’s been identified as a shrewd business move in the ad agency world.
Brim Coffe (fill it to the rim…), Underalls, Salon Selectives among many other are making a comeback. They can buy the rights cheap, and then use the buil-in name recognition.
http://www.brandrants.com/2009…..grave.html
There was a fairly big event down the street from me. Lots of green all over.
sigh
that is cheating and destroys the brand.
Cool. Haven’t tried the Summer Scent, but probably should. Our kids just find us now the moment they feel an itch and see a bite bump forming, and ask for the Chickweed. Put it on and they never say a word about it again. No itching. Nada.
Yea, seems a little vulture-like to me.
i’ve got a small bucket with a citronella candle in it that i light at the start of each evening. that has really helped. when the candle is burned down to nubs, i can then use the bucket to hold my bath salts. i can put a little scooper in it and it will be perfect.
I don’t remember the name of the Yardley model, just that I thought she was really cool!
lisa put a post up tonight about the la demonstration in solidarity with iranians
A lot of bugs along the Oregon coast?
wiki confirms it was jean shrimpton
i haven’t seen more than i had in the redwoods – just that i am fresh meat to the local skeeters. goes hand in hand with living on water – a creek and bay in my case. got a buttload of birds around this place and i’m sure they help keep down the bug numbers.
Yardley was an excellent brand. Lotta english lavender – kinda old ladyish.
Stuff I’m seeing is so nasty/cheap, thinking maybe there’s some lapsed trade name activity out there..
Peck & Peck was high end womens’ specialty store out of NYC – mostly suits and coats, iirc. Gone by the late ’60s I think. Prolly died off with the tweed suit and little dinner dress.. And the mink stole ;-)
i saw some jean nate when i was in town at the pharmacy last week. hadn’t seen a bottle of that in years. wonder if it is the fake stuff.
That is so cool. Looked like Iranian Americans. I want to see blonds!
ah, damn skeeters.
There’s a state park near us that has a very large bat population, and in fact they build houses for the bats all over the woods. It’s known as a place to go where you can camp and basically don’t have to worry about skeeters. At all.
You mind bats?
she has two video’s up loohoo – which one you talking about?
there are two bathouses on the south side of the house. had a bat accidently fly in an open window one night – had to gently encourage it to fly right back out again.
Wouldn’t it be wild if took Iranians to wake up Americans to get off their duffs and start making some stuff happen (outside of a Presidential election)?
Whoops!
It’s little unnerving to camp at this place and see they sky fill with bats above you. No skeeters though! Suppose you get used to it…
i’ll trade bats for skeeters any day. as long as they are not them vampire blood sucking kinda bats…
I know. Find a good product, get accustomed to it, it disappears. I must have gone through 6 lipstick trials when mine was deep-sixed.
So with ya on that one!
Both.
I’ve thought about that too. Maybe people really want health care? Maybe they really want their retirement money back? Maybe they really want to go to college without owing $100 K when they graduate? Maybe they want more money for the people and less for the war machines???
Americans are on the brink, and watching Iranians is an inspiration.
when i was a kid i remember seeing on tv some grainy black and white footage of a russian fashion show. i was amazed they looked just like my neighbors. not monsters as depicted by our government for all of my young life.
Thank you. That is very interesting. White Cloud, etc makes great sense. Yardley sure.
Peck & Peck on truly junk $1 jewelry, not so much. Just squandering a great old name no one under 60 would remember.
I keep thinking Obama’s Cairo speech had at least some effect on those rising up Iran. I do know a big deal was made on many of the non-state sponsored Web sites in the region about Obama acknowledging the 1950s CIA involvement in Iran, and all the other consistent outreach Obama has done to Iranians.
Just furthers my belief in the “kill ‘em with kindness” approach when it comes to fighting “terrorism” or despots in general. A majority of people will always stand for a general sense of what’s right IMO. They just need to have access to correct information and be able to share it with each other.
Same reason New Media outlets like FDL and others need to be strengthened in numbers and financially.
I use their stuff too! I’m definitely a repeat customer. That chickweed salve really does work.
ok margot – i’m gonna have to fire up the ccard and place an order
Excellent!
Would love to make sure that company stays around for a long, long time.
Their Healing Salve almost concerned us how quickly it heals a cut. We’ll never be buying Neosporin again, that’s fer shure!
hehe…that was funny. It wasn’t just me trying to get a kick-back!
spidey got me using herbal remedies. arnica for falls. my mom was able to combat her pre-diabetes diagnosis by adding a teaspoon of cinnamon to her yogurt each morning and no longer has to test her blood sugar.
Loo Hoo, you can order Keri lotion online.
kick ass!
We try to find a good balance between natural living/medicines, and Medical Industrial Complex stuff, but the natural stuff wins out a overwhelming majority of the time IMO. It often prevents the problems from developing, so not much profit on that, right?
Now, if I gotta have surgery for something that would’ve killed a person a 100 years ago, I’m jumping for table and wanting to get drugged up. doG bless medical innovations!
It’s just that it’s really probably necessary about 10% of the time it’s actually used, at least in America.
sweet.. i’ve got 5 items in my cart and it is less than $40.
i love adding drops of essential oils to epson salts for bath salts.
thanks for the link bonkers
I went through lipstick hell 3 or 4 yrs ago. Couldn’t find ANY, it was all powder stuff and pencils. It’s back now, but new colors and formulas.
how fast do they ship and how?
That age spot stuff would thrill me no end if it works. My sister had a bunch of them burnt off her hands by a dermatologist a number of years ago. Icky business.
You mentioned arnica, and (ya know, I should contact Healin Hollers about a free bottle or something!) they’ve got this Flower Power oil that I’ve also just started to try out.
http://www.healin-hollers.com/flowerpower.htm
It has arnica and other good stuff. Been using it on a knee that had torn ligments from basketball many years ago, and some super tight problem muscles I have. You literally can feel it soak deep in, and something starts happening. On the muscles it works really fast, and haven’t had it long enough to say it’s changing things around the knee, but so far so good.
I notice the site says $20 for it, but I got it at the local store for $7.95, so maybe the mail order is a bigger bottle. Not sure, but if you like the others you got, I’d also recommend the Flower Power for joints/muscle stuff.
spidey had me pick up a bottle of arnica beads at the natural grocery store in boulder creek after i took a nasty fall doing the floors. landing on my right hip and knew i was gonna have a massive bruise.
started slipping those beads under my tongue and it really helped.
Bats wouldn’t be a casual issue here. Too much rabies around.
The Witness Oil absolutely eliminated age spots for my wife and I. Completely. For both of us though, it was our first batch of spots and neither of us had the spots for long (less than year) before trying the oil.
It took several weeks, but the oil also helps smooth out wrinkles, so it’s a win-win all around. Also, I stopped putting it on for a month or two and noticed the spots creeping back, so started again. Fun to watch ‘em disappear!
hmmmm i was thinking of the way i handled ca bats – rabies is pretty rare in ca and mostly is a worry when folks are handling dead critters.
hmmm gonna have to find out what the rabies situation is up here
Don’t know. Just get it through the local co-op. Usually takes 1-2 weeks if they need to order it for me.
Oh yea, that must be homeopathic, right? We’ve dabbled in that and had some noticable results as well (not arnica), and should probably do more of it.
well i placed an order tonight – will let ya know when it gets here and how – didn’t say if it was post office or ups or fed ex or what. still, shipping was under $10
Great! Yes, let me know since we might be moving soon and we may have to order online after that. Not sure yet….
So I’m guessing Chickweed and Summer Scent…what else did you order?
sweet orange balm, lemon hemp creme and a bar of soap
Oh, should mention that on our faces, the Witness Oil did cause some slight red splotchiness, but it seemed to go away over time. A Naturopath we know suggested it might just be the oil highlighting some weak areas of the skin and then strengthening those areas over the next few weeks, which is what it seems like happened.
It had no side effects on the backs of hands and fingers though, where I had some age spots starting up.
i used to get a hemp hand creme from the body shop (iirc) – it was at the mall. loved that and my hands never felt greasy after using it. hope this is similar.
Well, it is certainly brisk out there…! A bit of good news, the laser is having issues and they’re saying it might be 2-3 hrs before it’s up and running… course they called me in 3 mins before I was scheduled to come in…! 8~)
that just give ya 3 extra minutes of online time (and warm time) — but the 2-3 hours is a nice break.
Nice. Haven’t tried any of those so would love to get a report.
will let ya know – i got the sweet orange simply because i love the smell of sweet orange.
Sho nuff! One caveat tho… Hopefully they will be able to get it going… otherwise they’ll call it early and my paycheck will be considerably lighter…! ;-)
Suz, thanks for the toon. I was about to turn in, but dipped in for a swim and had to stay through the entire clip: it’s one of my all time favorites.
“Looks like he’s going to give us no end of trouble.”
“Oh, it certainly does, doesn’t it?”
Just like Dick Cheney
rut roh… fingers and toes crossed it is just a nice break and that you are back out freezing your tushkie off
and so polite :) glad ya enjoyed them keysersoze – i’ve always had a soft spot for the goofy gophers.
No wonder these f*ckers were so quick to pay back their share of the TARP funds…
Most of mine are fairly new, but becoming plentiful. Never crossed my mind there was any real possibility of losing em.
shit
fuckers need to be investigated
You’re tooo kind…! ;-)
tis all a question of balance ct – balancing staying warm with that whole needing the paycheck thang.
‘Course it’ll never happen with the current regime…!
sigh
So far for both us, the Witness Oil has been a guarantee on the age spots. Took about 2-3 weeks to start noticing them diminish, eventually going away completely. Fun stuff!
This is completely outrageous…
How could he sell out like that…? 8-(
well pups – about time for me to head out. thanks for an enjoyable evening
g’nite all
Aloha, Suz…! It’ll be awhile before I foresee being online again…! *g*
You’d prolly not have bat houses in the area if it was an issue. We get lots of publicity about rabies events.. and serious cautions from the vets. Usually raccoons are involved.
This year they are door to door checking for non-tagged/vaccinated animals and the fines are large.
Fortunately, rabies is non-existent here in the Isles… and we probably have just as agressive a Pet Control regime here too…
nite suz. thanks.
Seems the problem has always existed here, but the incidence is increasing.
Hate to think what that means for untagged lost animals.
Sounds good. Hope I can find it locally. You’ve been a veritable font of interesting information tonight. Thanks *g*
