Well, this is certainly intriguing as the MN Supreme Court decision looms…
In recent weeks, two of [Norm Coleman's] top staffers have gotten new jobs.
LeRoy Coleman (no relation), who served as Coleman’s Senate communications director, has now joined the Republican National Committee as director of media affairs. And two weeks ago another top Coleman staffer, campaign manager Cullen Sheehan, became an RNC regional director.
TPM thinks the Sheehan move is especially significant because he’s Norm’s co-plaintiff – but win or lose, Norm doesn’t really need a campaign manager anymore.
On the other hand, it sure looks like Other Coleman gave up hope of his position’s continued existence. Did he make an educated guess, or did Norm tell him something about his plans for after the decision? Or was Norm just so tapped out that he couldn’t make payroll?
Meanwhile, Al Franken has been hiring since April.

Love the photo for this post, Eli!
Thanks, me too.
Me too.
Good evening, sir Eli.
Evenin’, Sir Eureka.
MN Supreme court is a travesty, just like the other branches of all U.S. govts.
Hey, Eli. Maybe Norm will next ask his wife to move out because he can’t afford her.
Hope this is over soon. Nobody deserves to be put through what Al has had to contend with.
Care to elaborate?
Fire Dog Knights and the Pups. *s*
I’m amazed that this pathetic loser can drag this out for over *seven* months and it’s not an enormous (so to speak) scandal.
I guarantee that if it had gone the other way, Al would have been forced to fold before the new year.
(*And* he would have been referred to as “Al Soreloserfranken” forever after.)
Good picture of Norman awaiting the decision.
Avoiding the obvious, as near as I can tell. Correct me if I’m wrong.
It’s an outrage. Will Al’s term be shortened? Or can he serve until July 2015?
Great photo, Eli
It’s the 13yo vengeful mentality. Since the Rethugs put all their marbles on winning not on actually, like, you know, governing they’ll act like the spoiled little brats they are.
Shortened. And Coleman should be made to pay Franken the salary he was deprived of.
I’m not really sure what you mean – they haven’t ruled yet. If they rule poorly, I’ll be happy to join you in bashing them all over.
Scuttlebutt is that it’s going to be a unanimous decision and they’re just hashing out the wording. But scuttlebutt was also that it would be yesterday.
Perfect picture. LOL
Oh, I’m more cynical than you. Delay in ruling means to me that they are anti-D.
He always was a better taxidermist than senator.
I suppose we need to stop speculating on when the decision will arrive. No doubt “Minnesota Nice” includes not spoiling the surprise.
If only the obstructionist GOP knew what Al was really about.
I’m hoping that they held off because they’re preparing a righteous smackdown of Norm and they don’t want it to get buried.
I know, I’m a dreamer. Besides, the next Republican to be chastened by a royal judicial smackdown will be the first.
“Activist judges”
How dare they tell poor Norm what to do!
If things don’t go Franken’s way, I will BLAME ELI
Poor Norm. He’ll be leaving town dragging his tail between his legs, will have a mountain of debt, and the state of Minnesota waving bye-bye to him. Awwwwwwwwwww, I don’t feel bad either.
Isn’t Coleman the plaintiff
D’oh! Call it a freudian slip. Will fix.
Does the phrase “rats leaving a sinking ship” strike any chords?…C
Norm doesn’t even have time to paint the deck chairs!
Too many Colemans and Sheehans involved in this story. Every person involved in politics should have an exclusive name.
there’s a rat in my kitchen
what Norm a gonna do?
there’s a rat in my kitchen
what Norm a gonna do?
I’m gonna fix that rat thats what I’m gonna do,
I’m gonna fix that rat.
I can’t think of any Elis, so I reckon you probably wouldn’t mind if I became a senator or a president or something.
Whew thank goodness no baby rats!
all we need now is Cindy Sheehan and Coleman Hawkins to get involved.
That would certainly lend legitimacy to my years-long anti-Eli campaign. Instead of being an internet troll, I would be the leader of a MOVEMENT!
If things go Franken’s way, I will BLAME TKK
Just don’t try to found a Connecticut university, okay?
look for massive contributions from big pharma.
I thought about applying to Yale for about a half a second, then said, “Oh yeah” and dropped it.
It’s the TKK decade
Is that a Banksy?
I think it’s more like a Banksy ripoff, but I’m not sure anyone knows for certain.
Wow… Congress actually impeached someone today.
BILL TITLE: Impeaching Samuel B. Kent, judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, for high crimes and misdemeanors
Or is pay at least retroactive to January?
If I understand it he is a convicted felon who wouldn’t resign
Too funny! I hadn’t seen Al as a kid before.
Oh, now they figure out how to do it.
Normie will be a defendant soon enough.
The Oughties?
‘Tis a comeuppance devoutly to be wished.
Of course, the last impeached and convicted federal judge is now serving in Congress. I wonder how Alcee Hastings voted today?
He voted yes.
Hey, pups. I would swear that I saw something here at The Lake earlier this week about how calls are running in the WH and Congress on the public option, but I’m damned if I can find it using any search tool.
Am I losing what little is left of my mind, or did I really see that? And if I saw it, what was the post? I really, really, really want the sources…
Ha!
Is there a Coleman Hawkins other than the Tenor God?
There was a post at DKos earlier this week, I think by slinkerwink, who said that 75% of the calls to the White House and Congress were against the public option. Is that what you are recalling?
Not sure where it is here, but there’s a DKos post…
http://www.dailykos.com/story/…..han-FOR-IT!
Hey, it was a bipartisan witch hunt. 155 Republicans voted to railroad that crooked Texas loser not named Bush.
Now all of Congress can say they stand for truth and justice. Of course, that sleazeball Texas judge’s future was already dimmer than that of Norm Coleman’s. (Since he wa a convicted felon who refused to step down. Oh wait… that’s no reason to step down. We’re looking forward – not backwards here.)
I don’t read Kos ordinarily, but thanks to you and Eli for the link.
no, that was just a random name drop.
…me too. As a retired mariner, I’ve often wondered how they got around the ‘rat-guards’ on the mooring lines. (lol)
cheers,
