Reporting from Tehran — Pressing their claim to victory, pro-government supporters staged a mass rally in Tehran on Tuesday, responding to calls from state media to come out in support of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and against protesters they described as "looters and arsonists."
You could tell they supported Ahmadinejad because they were wearing Brooks Brothers suits, chanted "shut it down" in regard to any recount and referred to the leader of the other side Mir Hossein Mou-sore-loserman. In addition, it should be noted that John Sweeney has some free time for organizational tweets beyond asking for "a good criminal lawyer who doesn’t burn through a retainer two days after you pay it".

Heh… Nice job, Attaturk! I’d made a similar remark on the last post about Repuglican hypocrisy and the Florida ‘00/Ohio ‘04 comparison…!
Mad MS Paint skillz. The Fez is back.
This is what us US citizens needed to do in 2000. Let’s make sure this isn’t another opportunity for Rumsfield ( did he ever move out of the Pentagon?) to start another false flag war with RNC leader Limbaugh, and the rest of the shadow government. Our president Obombya is already getting in the frey about Iran with his quick comments.
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd and Friedman this morning. MoDo has her knickers in a twist and howls “Hold the Fries.” She’s wringing her hands because she thinks President Obama sends a mixed message about nutrition when he puts his organic tea aside and makes a show of heading for the nearest greasy spoon. MoDo, first STFU and when you’ve achieved that, go pound sand. The Moustache of Wisdom, in “The Virtual Mosque,” says in Iran, the more secular forces of moderation are using social networking Web sites as a place to mobilize. But the Islamists have a trump card: guns.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got Thomas’ English muffins with your favorite jam. We had a lovely thunderstorm last night, and may be in for more in the next few days. Tomorrow is forecast to be a blast furnace, and some rain would be most welcome.
Thanks to everyone who said such nice things about Victoria yesterday. Even when you know intellectually that your 20 year old cat isn’t going to last much longer you’re not really emotionally ready to face it. Have a great day.
“Mir Hossein Mou-sore-loserman”
Bah hahahahahaha! Good one, Attaturk! :-)
I agree. Not just the stolen elections but for all the things that went on. We’re such a lazy, blase country (I’m including myself) that the Iranians put us to shame. I’m ready and willing to march for one-payer healthcare but I’m sitting back waiting for someone else to organize a massive protest. And, of course, I’ll need a comfy hotel room and some comfortable walking shoes and the assurance that there won’t be any violence. I guess we deserve what we get.
Morning all,
Seems kind of silly to be casting all the stones while 7 1/2 months after the election the people of MN are still not represented. The MN
Ayatollasjudges must have gone on a vacation.Good morning. Slow day it seems.
Here’s a good take on the Iranian election… I thought this snippet was particularly poignant…
During the campaign idiot Jon McShame got all bent out of shape when Georgia and Russia got into it. He was wrong then but is now showing his republican bent in that the fool can’t learn anything.
Seriously, what’s going on in MN? What’s the holdup of the ruling?
Is that right? I’ve lost track.
The last thing that happened was the oral arguments on June 1. The republican judges have been working on it since then. Somebody needs to light a fire under those judges asses. People in MN need to see what the folks in Iran are doing.
we had a very ugly t-storm in The City Beautiful last night. No more basketball so it’s back to being a pathetic backwater masquearding as a big city. Hot? humid? Haven’t even looked. Just a wild guess. Guess it’s beaseballseason now top keep me interested. Right. ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I just don’t get wtf is happening in Iran so i’ll kinda just set bnack and watch. Very interesting though. Don’t like what I’m hearing/seeing onn the health care front. See that the R’s came out with a summary of their plan (remember their alternative vbudget with no numbers?). Tax credits and wellness. Wellness. The cornerstone of their health care reform plan (”plan”?) – don’t get sick. Oh yeah. And don’t let people sue. I’m sure this will be the thing that gets their party back in the game.
I don’t think 2 weeks is all that long. But I would hope for something real soon.
What’s the political party breakdown of the judges? How many Rs, how many Ds?
Not that I’m in the weeds on the MN election, but I seem to remember reporting at the time of the oral arguments that Coleman’s side seemed ridiculous. If that’s accurate, then 2 weeks is a really long time.
Heh. Caller on WJ just said Greenscam (referring to Alan). Just said it again.
America has come to the point where it feels the need to outsource its protesting. Better to watch little brown people do the protesting for you, from the comfort of your TV room.
This is my favorite story of the day. Cure your cold & lose your sense of smell forever. Seems like a reasonable tradeoff to me. /s (Oh, and your cold might have cured in the same amount of time even if you didn’t take the medicine.)
I was thinking 2 Rs and 1 D. Today is the 17 we are well into week 3.
Seems ominous to me. Like the deck is stacked.
Glenzilla’s gonna be on democracynow this morning.
Since 2000, America has almost entirely outsourced our elections. With the exception of New York, slated to fall soon, we have handed our vote-counting to the corporations via software-based voting machines. As long as the elections can be perceived to be tight, those guys in the suits no longer have to leave the comfort of the board room to assure the results. Must be one of those jobs that GWB said amuricans won’t do.
yeah. Could have said “we affirm for the reasons expressed in the thorough opinion of the court below.” Or “Coleman, you gotta be kiddin.”
The Intellectual property rights to the Op-Scan software actually belongs to a company in Venezuela. Not kidding.
Good point. Why aren’t americans in the streets?
I’m so sorry about Victoria, (((Marion & Mr. Marion)))
