Peter DeFazio voted for it after saying he would vote against? This is one mind numbing act of treason. I hope that I am misreading the list, because he was the least likely, behind Dennis Kucinich, to change his vote to kill people.
I hope I am wrong, am I? I can’t follow the list as there is no mention except the Yea, please tell me I am wrong. Oregon deserves far better.

And even though i am furious at my congressman, Chaka Fattah, I think we sent a message yesterday. And i hope we continue to keep sending messages until A)we either get what we want, B)someone[s] in congress loses his/her/their seat to a progressive primary opponent, or C) all of the above.

I’m gonna listen to the Supersuckers fight song today, cus a lot of these motherfuckers just realized for the first time what Steve Gilliard used to say: WE FIGHT BACK.

Add me to the Amen Corner for Jane having done a wonderful job on the Supplemental.

And I would add that I was focused on the Members of the Hispanic Caucus. One interesting facet in all of this was pretty much representative of all the others.

First, the senior staffer had not had the opportunity to speak to the Member over the weekend. And on Monday, the Member had not made a decision, and thusly, was in meetings and therefore, I could not talk to the Member directly. As such, the story goes like this: After the initial denial, the Member did sign the pledge back in 2007; Bush reached a compromise and which was to pull our troops out of Iraq in 2011; Obama is maintaining that ‘compromise’; And thusly, the Pledge is no longer applicable or valid.

And more to the point, the senior staffer is not being permitted to ‘comment’ for ‘attribution’.

However, its been my experience and followed by my expectation, that one or two members of the Hispanic Caucus are vying for ambassadorships. Moreover, should the ambassadorships be extended, it will be quite easy to connect the dots, starting with the vote on the supplemental and on to the award of an ambassadorship position. Thus, leaving the Legislative for the Executive, opens the door for a greater opportunity for financial success in the future.

Certainly do it again. It’s better than nothing, but in its present form it probably won’t be effective. The vote was close only because Repubs opposed the supplemental for reasons having nothing to do with opposing the war. Take my representative, Himes, Please. He ran as an anti-war candidate and owes his election to that position, yet he was for the supplemental from the get go. It’s bad when you find enemies on your side and supposed friends against you. Something happens to progressives on the way to Washington. Don’t know that this will do anything about that.

Jane – when the first roll call was put up, Peter Welch was shown as a “yes” vote. The final roll call has him down as a “no” vote. I’m going to place a few calls today to find out if this was indeed correct, and if so, why did Welch switch his vote. The cynic in me thinks that Welch changed his vote only after he saw that passage was secured.

Millions of Americans are grateful tonight that the supplemental passed. You did a great disservice to Barack Obama in this effort. Trying to high jack Democracy doesn’t work.
