barbara is a little bit cranky this morning. You have been warned.

Given that the left began stoning Obama before the election, ramping up thereafter, and adapting full frontal fling mode thereafter, it surely cannot surprise us that the right would everlastingly try to go us one better. Blame Obama! Why not?

Full disclosure: Obama was not my first nor my second choice. Even so…

Iranian election = Obama’s fault.

well of course it is. From your link:

ROMNEY: The comments by the president last week, that there was a robust debate going on in iran, was obviously entirely wrong-headed.

Willard’s all over it as usual. Debate? In Iran? from the news reports I’m watching, it’s all kittens and candy over there at the moment.

Could there be a bigger lunkhead commentary on Iran right now than Mitt Panderama Romney? I don’t think so.

Meanwhile, here’s a link to an article about David Axelrod’s commencement speech at DePaul. Why he left journalism…. interesting.

Mornin’, BT, pups.

Thanks to Bill Greider’s Secrets of the Temple I understand Krugman’s arguments this morning. To carry the piece a bit further, if the Rethugs and the monetarists have their way with the Fed we’ll head for a depression, then the Rethugs can blame it on Obama. Typical Rethug stunt. Burn the place down and blame somebody else.

I was just gonna post that, too. Here’s more. What a bonehead.

ROMNEY: The comments by the president last week, that there was a robust debate going on in iran, was obviously entirely wrong-headed. What has occurred is the election is a fraud, the results are inaccurate, and you’re seeing a brutal repression of the people as they protest. … It’s very clear that the president’s policies of going around the world and apologizing for America aren’t working. … Look, just sweet talk and criticizing America is not going to enhance freedom in the world.

No, you look, just nasty talk and criticizing Obama is not going to enhance your status or that of your goofball party.

Right on.

A bunch of Repub operatives have been quoted recently about how there’s an active effort to stoke discontent on “the Left” (most notably at Huffington Post) in order to diminish President Barack Hussein Obama’s support as he starts on the really big issues. Just basic divide and conquer.

Sad to see so many people on “the Left” play along without even realizing it. Especially disturbing when Obama has already enacted more Liberal policy in a few months than Bill Clinton did in 8 years, and Obama has consistently stated he wants to do more and more, but has to start with what was handed to him. He didn’t create the cesspool that is DeeCee. The Karl Rove-Lush Limpbaugh crowd are laughing at the “Obama=Bush” people that dominate these threads.

Imagine if this same time and energy so much of “the Left” devotes, and has devoted as you point out since before Obama was in office, was spent as FDR said “making him do it,” instead of “I’m taking my ball and going home. Harumpf!” Unbelievably shortsighted, and could endanger the historic opportunities we have in front of us right now.

While I agree with what you say, I can’t always tell the difference between the “make me do it” and the the “take my ball and go home” viewpoints on the left. The snark/name calling from both often portray the administration as being as stupid, devious, criminal, and treasonous as the Bush Administration was.

Interesting how Romney jumps on the blame Obama wagon. Mr. Romney, the fact is, there are other nations who would gain from Iranian instability from an election in terms of US policy being affected as opposed to the US. That list needs to be investigated before you go blaming the president.

Well, it sure seems to me that (a) Obama is a pretty conservative guy (cautious, deliberate, skeptical of change) and (b) the people who think he’s intentionally moving incrementally are probably right. We know, on the other hand, what the remaining GOP is doing – delay, dispute, obfuscate. I don’t think it’s any sort of deliberate effort on the part of almost all of them – it’s just the natural skills that most kids learn by about 3 years old and get trained out of by good parents. I didn’t expect miracles from Obama, and I’m not terribly surprised (although I am a little disappointed) that he didn’t start by burning the Bush legacy root and branch. I’m sure he felt there would be unnecessary trouble if he moved too fast, but he didn’t take into account that there would be just as much, if not more, trouble if he moved too slowly. You don’t give small children and authoritarians any breathing room or hint of “weakness” or you quickly regret it. Force the issue, keep them off-balance, present _your_ 2 choices, make the decision and stick to it. I suspect Obama’s weakness is that he’s the parent of 2 small girls instead of boys. He’s dealing with the equivalent of 4-year-old boys; guys like Bush. Those you deal with firmly and consistently and make sure you win every fight that you choose to engage them in. Cheney was exactly like a teenage girl, but he’s out of office and can presumably be isolated to some degree; people like that Michelle may be better placed to advise on.
Anyway, the events in Iran – I’d bet my next lottery winnings (so I’m safe, there) that Khameini’s simply using the tried-and-true “calm things down and you’ve won” strategy. If the protestors take him at his word, 10:1 any investigation will find that there were only scattered “irregularities” and that the result stands. Then, of course, it will be much, much harder to gear up the protests again, particularly with the internal police that much more prepared.

Maybe. It just seems to me that there is a large block of voters who are only mildly interested in politics, tend to latch onto what they think is the common wisdom and go along with the crowd. They took far more convincing than they should have (about eight years worth) to decide that the Bush Administration was disasterous. They are very fickle and susceptable to fear and self righteous platitudes. If they turn, there is a likelihood that any chance of righting the ship will be lost, period.

I believe that any whacko on the right can get a public forum whereas the mainstream centrist dems are presented as the left. The center of these to positions is much further right than it would be if real left positions were given as much airtime as the right fringe.

Mornin’ Blue Texan and Firedogs,

Kevin Drum @ Mother Jones posted an interesting slant on Iran – speculating Mullahs/Revolutionary Council made the “results” so lopsided intentionally –

Maybe they wanted to provoke a round of violence from Mousavi’s supporters as an excuse to lead a crackdown on dissidents. And what better way to do that than to make the election rigging so obvious even a child could see it?

I am about 3 days behind y’all news wise so forgive me if prev posted

The postal route I live on is oft used for training new carriers. The other day the delivery person started making comments about the bumper stickers I have, telling me to get rid of my “Bush is a Natural Disaster,” “because the election is over.” He was a winger all the way, and I hope he does not get near a gun any time soon. “Everything is Bush’s fault, is that what you think?” “Pretty much, yes.” I think he was about to call me a left-wing anti-Semite. I had to go inside. Hope he is not back on this route again. I like my carrier, and I don’t want any more going postal in my yard.
