Fortunately we’ve ‘been there, done that’ and know how to ease them through. Call it mid-wifing or mentoring or something, but it is a natural continuation of what we’ve invented.</p> <p>There is also a similar pattern wrt Democracy.</p> <p>I don’t think a comparison to the rise and fall of the Roman or British empires is apropos.</p> Several countries are going to need our advice and help as they move through their Roaring 20s developments without pushing us all into a Depression. Today, the Chinese have the three largest banks in the world and I have to agree with Ian that the US is a lousy poker player.<br /> The US can still turn things around, but it will mean breaking up the old boys club at the Federal Reserve if not dumping the Fed all together.
