So I see wingnuts are running around claiming that James von Brunn’s anti-Semitism is proof that he’s a lefty (more examples here and here.) Leaving aside the absurdity of reducing an individual’s overall political orientation to a single feature (Hitler favored low taxes — just like Republicans!), anti-Semitism has been a staple of the far-right in the United States for decades, from Henry Ford to Charles Lindbergh to Pat Buchanan. And yes, we saw it during the Great Teabagging.
Still, if Pantload wants to play this stupid game, why not have some fun with it at the right’s expense?

Wild-guess time: Nixon all for sure. Seems it easily could be von Brunn also on all.
Whoops! Dang you! Caught me. Neither is left winger!!!
tricky tricky
Shit, this reads like a Daily Show segment!
Beautiful!
Nah. Colbert?? Phooh! I wish it were funny. It’s just not.
But THANKS for great post. ;->

CCCCooper!
Nixon and von Brunn both flightless. I did not know that. Did you know if you clip a bird’s wing to keep it from flying, you should clip only one. Then it only flies in a circle, sorta like bigthyme and ruuuuush.
#s 7,, 9, and 10 are by James von Braun, while #s 1 through 6, and #8 are by President Richard M. Nixon.
today we just about finished cleaning the basement, and we sold some tools.
i feel as if we finished a primer for government service in the wrong right party.
Richard Nixon: The Pride of Yorba Linda!
You sure you didn’t throw a Jeremiah Wright in there someplace?
i smell something. is googlemeister overheating? cheaters abound in the woods.
will this be on the final exam?
Answers 1-10, Rush or someone who thinks he’s swell!
Even numbers are Nixon; odd numbers are the Holocaust Museum assassin.
Let’s not forget, also, that Nixon sent Fred Malek into the Bureau of Labor Statistics to count the Jews. Malek counted them and reported back. Malek is still very active in GOP politics; he was the finance chair of McCain’s 2008 campaign. He was appearing on television again fairly regularly this spring but seems to have laid low now that the anti-Semitic Holocaust Museum assassin appeared.
BT, to clarify, i love the post, reject the premise.
“The Jews are irreligious, atheistic, immoral bunch of bastards.”
Bah hahahahaha! I’m sorry, but this one is kind of comical. I picture it being said in a bar near closing time. LOL
How bout substituting A*PAC and see how many we get from firepups?
They’re on to us. Break out the brisket guns!
what’s the origin of the phrase, “straighten up and fly right?”
to whom is sara palin comparison?
”Bunch of bastards” is a Nixon phrase, iirc.
So far, no one’s gotten them all right.
Tricky was an ignorant pig and paranoid thug, though must say his presidency looks like truth, beauty and my favorite easy chair compared to the fucking dante’s inferno his vampire acolytes have put us through. Supposedly DEFENDING da jooz ..
Everybody STILL needs less Nixon and more Rabbi Hillel ..
The quotes in conversational style are Nixon, because most of what we have recorded of Nixon is spoken or transcript. The ones in literary or edited style are von Brunn, because most of what we have recorded of him is from his writings.
Nixon:1,2,4,6,8
Von Brunn:3,5,7,9
You made up #10. But we all know that the person at fault here is not Nixon or von Brunn, but rather the shameless Cheeto-eating liberal blogofascist who exposes our children to these hateful slurs by repeating them where everyone can see them. You’ll probably be accused of plagiarism too.
how do you really feel?
Rough and scaly, suitable for use as sandpaper.
I felt that way until I spent the past week on the Outer Banks fishing!
So the subtext of this is that if one is critical in any way of Israel, then one is anti-Semitic which is the same exact thing as hating all Jews and everything Jewish?
Therefore I am von Brunn. Nice. It makes so much sense.
The word “Israel” doesn’t appear in the post.
Yeah, pretty much. Criticizing the neocons means you’re an anti-Semite. We can thank David Brooks for that bullshit.
Re the Hitler was a lefty nonsense: he hated taxes, and was jailed for not paying them, he was enamored of wealth –wealth as such–and often went right for the gold in the treasuries of countries his armies invaded, and he also was anti-abortion… after all, there had to be mothers for the fatherland…
My guess is they’re all Richard “Would You Buy A Used Car From This Man?” Nixon. But I’m usually wrong… Well? Who said what? It’s safe to tell us now, we’re 2 posts down in EPU land.
Nixon 1,3,4,6,8,10
All the rest are Rush Limbaugh when the mike is off.
I don’t know if it is the origin of the phrase, but there was a great Nat King Cole novelty song called Straighten Up and Fly Right.
The buzzard took a monkey for a ride in the air,
The monkey thought that everything was on the square,
The buzzard tried to throw the monkey off of his back,
The monkey grabbed the buzzard’s neck and said, “Now listen Jack!”
(chorus)
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and stay right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down poppa, don’t you blow you top!
Ain’t no use in divin’
What’s the use in jivin’
Straighten up and fly right,
Cool down, poppa, don’t you blow your top!
The buzzard told the monkey, “You are choking me,
Release your hold and I will set you free!”
The monkey looked the buzzard right dead in the eye and said,
(spoken) “Your story is touching but it sounds just like a lie.”
(Chorus repeats)
(Piano ride)
(Chorus repeats)
Blue Texan:
So, nu?
Answer: von Brunn is 3, 7 and 9.
