.thumbnail.jpegI had a great time at the Personal Democracy Forum last year, and I’m really sorry to be missing this year. I’m going to Sweden with John Aravosis speaking to the Swedish Social Democratic Party (no, this is not the Onion). But Marcy’s going to be there when PDA will take place June 29-30 in New York City at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and they’re offering a $100 discount to FDL readers.

PdF is a tech-politics brainfest that brings together a thousand political activists, organizers, hackers and hacks, along with many leading elected and government officials, NGO leaders, academic observers and journalists. Other than Netroots Nation, there’s probably no other place where so many internet activists get together to talk shop, share best practices and check out what’s over the horizon. This year’s conference is focused on the theme of "We.gov" and all the ways that campaigns, elections, media, advocacy, and governance are becoming more open, participatory and collaborative.

Speakers will include: White House CIO Vivek Kundra; Deputy CTO for Open Government Beth Noveck; State Department Senior Adviser for Innovation Alec Ross; New York Times columnist Frank Rich; Craigslist founder Craig Newmark; Nate Silver; Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey; Obama ‘08 new media director Joe Rospars; and many others. People like Ilyse Hogue of MoveOn, Natalie Foster of OFA, Eric Boehlert of Media Matters, Mike Connery of Future Majority, Becky Bond of CredoMobile, and Jim Gilliam of WhiteHouse2.org all have prominent roles. More details here.

Just use the special coupon code "fdlake100" that will give FDL readers $100 off if you register now, while the early bird rate is still on.

And keep an eye on Micah Sifrey — when he and Marcy get together, there’s nothing but trouble.
