howdy all
Hey, Suz and pups!
hey mm
hey loohoo
after a week on pain killers (tooth extraction) and sleeping all the time i can’t sleep
yikes – you are just catching up on lost awake time mm. how’s the mouth feeling?
I’m on the weirdest schedule since I retired. Up at 3:30 and to bed by 8:00 usually. Strange…
Hey Suz!
well it has it’s moments but much better. it’s one week and i made it through a day without a pain killer, evidently i had a very deep root.
loohoo, you will eventually settle into what is your natural sleep cycle. no need for alarm clocks when it gets regular.
hey newton – how’s the bay area tonight?
Spoiler alert! Don’t miss Colbert Nation — Stephen is on fire.
Hey newt!
shrudder
wincing
ouch
glad it is better mm
congrats on retiring.it take a while for your body to readjust the clock, it can get annoying in the mean time
Brrr! 68
hey Chris!
thanks so do i. i have another to look forward to. twin toothaches on my birthday recently.
Hey, last week we had 40’s temps — in June!
hey christine e – how’s ohio tonight?
Hey Suzanne!
Perfect weather, 70’s, sunshine, blue skies and breezes. So NOT Cleveland!
hippo belated mm.
that sucks – puts such a damper on cake and ice cream.
Yeah, I’m ashamed.
we had a sunset shower tonight, the strangest and most beautiful light i think i’ve ever seen. the sun had just set, there was still light and it was this warm yellow that i’ve never seen before. quite stunning.
thanks, well thats what blenders are for. how life treating you suzanne?
Hey Suze,
I’ve got a couple of diaries up on things surrounding Tiller’s assassin…
ohmystars – were ya able to take a pic of it mm? i would love to see that. we get a golden light at sunset but i can totally see how the rain would magnify it.
Are you sure you aren’t still on drugs?
Sounds wonder.
no i need a new battery for my camera.
hey btc – wanna drop the links into this thread so the pups can read them bct? please feel free to do so (and when i get a minute i’ll read them also)
hey mary – how’s sac?
We are getting ready for the opening of our new east building — June 27, our galleries of 19th and 20th centuries. Everything from Impressionist art to dec arts and Picasso… and even Cleveland artists. Much pressure for the Summer Solstice party.
http://www.clemusart.com/event…..ening.aspx
ha! no residual effect i’m sure
crap… that reminds me. i need to recharge the ones in mine.
Thanks. It’s just crazy not having to be to work early! Crazy but wonderful.
Hope your mouth is feeling better. Ouch!
Wow!
pressure = pride
that sounds like fun, good luck with it.
Hey, we saw this last week or so…check my FB about the yellow light about two weeks ago…
Sac is beautiful. I cannot believe how nice the weather has been. Have taking the dogs on two long walks a day. Watching for rattlers but haven’t seen any. It has been windy. Snakes don’t like wind. Makes it hard to warm up.
I am hoping the entire summer is mild.
yea i keep forgetting to order it from amazon and then when something like this happens, i remember. it’s just things are tight with the unfortunate unemployment too.
That looks wonderful, Christine.
I’ll try, Suz, but I’ve been having network problems all night.
Well now you can live a new beginning, and just take some time to let the stress leave your body.
the weather dood up here said they are forecasting this will be an el nino year. means oregon will have a mild winter as all our storms head to ca.
Where is the edit thingie? Did it disappear? Or is it me?
Thanks I will.
lovely
Wow oceanside…OH oceanside Oregon awesome coastline.
Get some fresh salmon and some dried Madrone and barbaque Native American style…you might like.
diary
second diary
hoping to be able to scoot over and take a peak at them in a few minutes
iirc, it is only there for 5 minutes.
*drooling*
Here’s today’s update on Roeder.
And here are some more general musings on where to go from here.
I’ve been having network problems all night, and I’ve got young minds to try to force to function tomorrow, so I’m going to say good night.
Test…I think edit’s gone for now.
I guess I wasn’t paying attention. Or time flies.
i just put them on the thread too. :)
fingers and toes your connectivity improves bct. g’nite
I wish we still had that counter at the bottom of the comments that told a body if others had commented and how many.
is anyone else having trouble with no edit feature showing? its showing on my pc with ff 3.0.10
the new comments banner. *sigh* i miss that most of all
Seems fine to me…
i have problems aprox 50% here of the time with edit, all thought tonight i’m not. mac with ff 2.something
mary mcc and loohoo – are you on a mac?
don’t be tempted to go to FFox 3.. yet.
But the new Safari came out yesterday, and I am testing it tonight.
The beta worked very well here.
Christine, what do you do at the museum?
hey emerson
Suzanne,
Have we lost them? I’ve been thinking about going mac — this Dell is almost 4 years old. What do you think?
It wasn’t working a minute ago when I did the test for Mary.
Hey emerson,
I’m an art librarian. The Cleveland Museum of Art Ingalls Library is the third largest art library in the United States.
Hi Suz. What’s shakin?
Victory! Now it’s working, Suz.
sometimes a page refresh will result glitches when a page does not load all the way or loads improperly.
Yes, on a Mac. And what’s this about newtonusr buying a PC?
not much – you?
yes, I know. That is remarkably impressive. What is your favorite area of the collection?
I think either nahant has been funnin you, or you ate the wrong mushrooms.
neva happen.
Trying to do house things, but remembering quickly that I’ve never been handy.
Probably the Faberge collection that we have, and is now on tour. That said, I’m an American furniture specialist…
that mean the deck plan is on hold?
thanks for the tip.
In re coming Saturday’s Bailout Nation salon, at Ritholtz’s blog:
Sure. I already have one complaint from a client who updated to Safari 4, and is having issues. IMO, they are user issues, but I have not seen it.
hey prostrated – wow, thanks
Well I need to try to sleep, so good night all
g’nite mm
I love Le Corbusier. I’ve sold art for the last 20 years in SF. Run a couple of Galleries. Like Van der rohe, too
nite mm
Hah! No, I’m paying someone to do that job!
Whew! I thought you’d have to change your handle to pcusr!
*laughing* that’s about the extent of my handyman skills – writing a check.
Like this?
hehehehehe
did you ever see the Lucy when she loses her ring in the barbecue pit and then tries to rebuild it? Very similar to my kind of handiwork.
Also explains my attraction to Picasso.
i love that episode – tis her homage to pop art before warhol
Oh man, Suz I didn’t have time to see the I Love Lucy clip you put up Saturday night. Got it handy? I kept trying to get back to it.
Some news items of interest:
The Kennedy/Dodd Health Care plan is out….over 600 pages to digest.
It looks like the Uighers will be sent from Guantanamo to Palau, an island group near New Zealand. They do not have relations with China to be worried about. The US is bribing them with $200 million to take them off our hands. (I guess the Bikini atoll is still too radioactive.)
San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed the nation’s (maybe the world’s)first compulsory composting ordinance. There will be serious consequences if your trash contains coffee grounds or paper napkins or anything that can be recycled. It doesn’t matter that you cannot control what happens to your bins after you put them out. Much more stick than carrot.
Gavin Newsome can forget about getting elected governor. This was his baby and he’s so proud.
let me dig it out for you loohoo
hey esseff44
here it is loohoo
You have Faberge at your museum? Oh dear, I would love to see it.
i guess i would have to change it, but it would be, in the case of a platform swap to PC, something like “Wish I Were dead”
evening. Trying not to post – effed-up finger/hand needs a
breakrest.esseff – i had not heard of the mandatory composting. geez, they are gonna have garbage police?
hey sunny (((finger/hand))) have ya been to the doc yet?
That one, vitavetavegimen, and the candy-making w/Ethel are the ones that make me CRY!
Hey, Suzanne.
hey margot
vitaveg and candy making are so well known – is why i picked charm school to highlight.
THANKS SUZ! And how did I get that apple instead of the K????
Hi Suz;)
Emerson, I love that Lucy episode too.
apple instead of the k?
Hi Margot! Oh yeah, and the wine=making one in Italy is a keeper.
and the lucy with john wayne’s footprints in hollywood
Yes, the Collector’s will be the first responders. First, you get a warning. The next time, you get re-education. After that, they can refuse to pick up you stuff and report you to the Health Inspectors who can come out and fine you plus charge $167/hour for their time. It gets worse after that…nasty liens and such. They did put in a little thing that says if your total refuse output is less than a cubic yard a week, you can’t be fined more than $100 …initially. I don’t know what initially means here.
The goal is ZERO landfill stream by 2020. I think that raises a few questions. I am all for recycling. I have always compulsively recycled. I see this as ripe for abuse.
For anyone who is interested, you can read the ordinance at sfgov.org and go to Board of Supervisors June 9th Meeting. I am sure it will hit the press tomorrow.
Here’s a link to the pdf of the ord. itself.

I Know What I Am…Tired.
Going up in the mountains for a brief respite Wednesday, then heading home on Thursday
I’ll talk to you pups later.
That was smart Suz. What was the the other (another) episode where the girls acted as though they were high society? Yes, this is a quiz.
hey neuro – enjoy your respite tomorrow and drive safe on the trip home
g’nite neuro
pop quiz
That clip was so cute, Suzanne. I wondered how they would sit at dinner! Thanks.
Sunny-didn’t you do that 3-4 nights ago? Is it broken?
emerson… it had that cute blonde woman in it didn’t it – the ones the girls were always trying to out-do?
You don’t see it at 110? I do. I accidentally got it and I still see it.
THANS SUZ! (Trying to copy LooHoo’s comment)
Let me see if this works. Instead of the K in Thanks I see a box with 3 Fs and a $. ??
you musta hit some sorta key stroke code instead of the k.. i’ll go in and change that loohoo
How weird. I see an apple in place of the K in thanks…Where’s newtonusr?
fixed it loohoo… look at 110 now
I was thinking more of one taking place in Paris…
But, very clever on your part. Wasn’t her name Betty? She also was their neighbor when they moved to the country.
It doesn’t bother me, don’t worry.
I can’t remember. Put a brick on the gas pedal and jump at the first haystack?
yes, betty. nice memory :) iirc, years later, on some talk show, she was talking about how she was dodging ricky and his roman hands and how lucy helped her evade him.
Funny. I still see the apple, and I see it in Margot’s comment at 124 too. Must be an Apple thing I just learned about!
how strange loohoo
No chit? That big, brazen Cuban! Can you imagine that on the same set you work on?
Hint-Think Paris designers.
oh shit… the european vacation series had so many good episodes. i’m getting a coco buzz in the brain… did that episode have to do with the girls trying to get into a design show?
This is interesting. The US was in the final stages of buying the Pakistani hotel that was damaged by a suicide bomber today/yesterday.
emerson – i got the drift that the industry was full of that sort of thing back then.
oh my
they wanted brand new Yves St. Laurent creations. They ended up being trendsetters.
i used to come home from school and turn on the tv and watch a lucy rerun until star trek rerun came on at 4pm.
but right in front of your wife? Maybe they were kinkier than we thought. Not that I know anything about that world.
i shoudda stated that better. what i remember is how ricky didn’t know that lucy knew and that lucy helped betty with evading any advances.
of course this is all from memory on some old late nite tv talk show.
on the East Coast, Little Rascals were on at 8:30 am and 4 pm, Lucy at 10 am and Trek at 6 pm.
6pm was my dad home from work and watching the evening news while we ate dinner consisting of a meat and potatoes and a veggie.
Oh OK, that’s still strange. But they had a very odd relationship anyway. You never knew it on the show, though.
truly professional in their work.
Sounds Irish to me. The Italian side insisted on pasta on Wed and Sunday and fish on friday. The pasta was homemade courtesy of Nonni (grandma) which spoiled me for life. *g*
irish is in the heinz 57 mix that i am. no rice, no fish (unless dad had been fishing) – holdover resentments from ww2 was my best guess.
fancy meant we had a salad with dinner.
yeah, that makes sense. Did your Dad cook when he got home?
dad was a cook in the navy. mom cooked unless dad was making chili or bbqing – in which case mom made the side dishes.
and who was the better cook: mom, dad. or you?
depended on who was making what. mom is a traditional southern style cook who became creative in her cooking after the divorce and thinks nothing of fixing for a fancy dinner party for 30. dad did a lot more cooking after he remarried and then retired. i could not say who was better – i love(d) both their cooking. mom still makes my fav’s when i visit her. am overdue for a trip to az to see her.
Yeah, Arizona is close! My best compliment came when I heard Nonni tell mom, “He’ll never starve, Anna.” Nothing extravagant, but pretty good for a bachelor.
a long one day drive is now a 2 day and very long drive – am twice as far away now than when i was in the bay area. i used to zoom down to tuscon to my sisters on 3 day weekends.
i love driving but may fly down. gotta wait for my mom to come back from visiting my grandma tho.
making fine progress – happily it’s my left hand. all is good until i forget and do something stupid.
still swollen?
I hardly fly anymore, but I would in that case. Actually, one of my nephews and I may fly to LA pretty soon. I have to see if we can get tickets to Conan. I got 4 tickets last year when they came to SF. 2 nephews and both sisters went and loved it. Jerry and I closed a bar after the taping, just like the old days. *g*
Whew! Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal on Conan bluesing now.
i’ve not flown since before 9/11 – mid to late 90’s was the last time i flew.
Really? why not?
money – the lack thereof.
well pups – time for me to head out. thanks for letting me spend some time hanging out here with ya tonight. g’nite all.
G’nite Suzanne.
g’nite Suzanne and thank you,
swelling 95-98% gone, joints working, bruising gone. Only painful if i mess with it – just a nasty sprain i think. Really doubt breakage – dunno about ligaments.
(do have access to a sports injury md. will make the -long-trip if giving it a rest doesn’t fix it up)
Recently Matt Taibbi regaled a small company over cigars and snifters* with true, and essential, tales of the National Heroism of Henry Paulson. Go to the original and complete version here and watch those photos unfurl on your screen.

oh my – not mincing words.
Good morning, pups. Today it’s MoDo and Friedman, and Herbert from yesterday when my computer was in the shop. MoDo, in “Can the One Have Fun?” says what a relief to have an urbane, cultivated, curious president who’s out and about, engaged in the world. The Moustache of Wisdom is in Beirut. In “Ballots Over Bullets” he says Lebanon’s government is far from being stable. Nevertheless, on election day, the Lebanese mainstream, armed only with ballots, not bullets, won. Yesterday Mr. Herbert, in “State of Shame,” said farmworkers in New York do not have the same protections that other workers have, and the state’s agriculture industry has taken full advantage of that.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got Thomas’ English muffins and your favorite jam. This new computer is quite the toy. It’s blazingly fast, which is very nice. I’ve got an issue with the monitor, which stretches everything horizontally, but I’m sure the guy who built the machine for me will tell me how to solve the problem. Have a great day.
I popped off to sleep. I’ve just discovered the Mobi ereader just when Ahnold is suggesting ereaders in schools (to save money?). It’s a waycool app.
Morning. I tivo’d Chris Matthews pounding JoeScar on last night’s Hardball. Just finished watching it. Pretty good. Joe needed a beach towel to wipe the sweat off his brow.
JoeScar doesn’t fare so well when he can’t bully or overwhelm his oponnent with his merry band of lackys
