Early Morning Swim

  • Didn’t Lil’ Kim call this an act of war?
  • Still get the sinking feeling that the stimulus wasn’t big enough.
  • Some new Obama approval numbers.
  • Maybe Newt’s pissed she ripped off his material.
  • No it’s not, Blue Texan says.
  • Terry going down?
  • John Hinderaker has a short memory.
  • And Iraq is his fault, too.

So if the financial services business model, based on greed, does not work, the airline business model, based on greed, does not work, the automobile business model, based on greed, does not work, the health care business model, based on greed, does not work and the bought and paid for political model is dysfunctional why not try alternative models based on consumer need and call it what you will, socialism, realism, consumerism, whatever.

70 and clear in The City Beautiful. Going to 90 and T-storms. I’m going to stop doing this every morning, OK? That’s how it’s is from now until September.

Anyway, our heroes put up a gallant fight last night but came up just short in overtime. We still believe in Magic.

Shelby tries to blame Obama for bank bailouts that happened ‘last fall.’

I happen to agree with shelby, I blame obama for the bailout just as I blame him for the epic fail on the fisa bill

the democrats were following obama’s lead, NONE of us here wanted that “stimulous bill” bush was giving to his palls in banking, we all KNEW it was theft and that it would do nothing the way it was constructed but give more of our money to the very people who pilfered it in the first place

if not for obama telling the democrats to go for it they would have given a miniscule amount and said “we need a new policy not more of the same, we’re gonna wait for a grownup in office”

but of course, obama was in the bankers pockets already and proves at every turn his entire intention is letting them try to get us out of the very mess they themselves caused, bail out the banks, leave labor falling further and furthre to the abyss

sorry, blue but I happen to agree with shelby, the bailout before obama took office was in fact obama’s fault

let me add something to this;

the more we try to defer obama’s epic fail to the previous adminitsration the more he feels guilt free, the more he can blame someone else for his decisions

that’s got to stop, he needs to know he IS responsible for that theft of middle class assets, he needs to know HE’S the one that’s got to change direction from his own epic fail

yet it’s another charley bronw football, he makes believe he’s going to be stimulating the middle class and always falls back on “stimulating the crooks who took it in the first place”

he needs to be held to account if we are going to save this economy

Bernie Sanders (Hero-VT) is probably the only Senator who does not believe in a monetary policy whose purpose is to protect wealth. The Fed’s primary purpose is to protect the holders of wealth, hence the provision to fund IMF in the current legislation.

Absolutely and just because he is BO, the great “hope”, is no reason to support his wishy washy “stands” on health care, fisa, guantanimo, the bailout, secrecy act, executive pay cheques, etc, etc, etc. Frankly, from my point of view he has been a dismal failure in all those areas. The fact tat he has, so far, stood up to the AIPAC mad men is good but……..

jefferson said the greatest threat to our republic would be great wealth and he even suggested the inheritance tax in a letter to another founder, though I forget who

it might well have been jefferson that invented the inheritance tax but I think paine was suggesting it before jefferson, in any event, jefferson, once again was correct, great wealth buys law from the rest of the country

imf = subsidiary of the usa treasury (which now means geithner)

(ok, that’s an overstatement, but only a bit as far as i can tell)

if i don’t trust geithner to do the right thing for the american people why should i think he will do the right thing for anyone other than his cronies regardless of which country they live in?

Shelby is a racist, union busting nut.

Who, btw, thinks we have “the best health care on earth”.

There are at least 50 million people that probably disagree with that position.

In fact, to hold that view while 50 million people lack coverage tells you all you need to know about his principles and priorities.

no on shelby!!!!

but i’m with you on bernie. i think he’s great.

going back to the tarp vote (aka the bankster bailout / taxpayer sellout). bernie submitted an amendment to it that would have imposed a temporary surtax to incomes over $500,000 (or a million for couples filing jointly). this was meant to pay for a portion of the tarp.

it was a voice vote only. and the only “yea” i heard was bernie’s strong voice. he also gave a inspiring senate floor speech prior to the vote.

Notice how the small banks have been allowed to fail but the big boys, where all the big money boys keep their dust, are bailed out? In this world view it’s not the banks that fail, it’s the people who borrowed money from the banks that fail, eg, farmers, small businessmen. That explains Rethugs blaming the homeowners for being sucked into loans they could never pay off.

There was a guy on my radio the other day talking about the credit card companies. They’re not interested in balances being paid off. They’d prefer them not paid off; they make more money through various fees than they would if the debtor paid off the balance.

yep. that’s one of the reasons i think the appeals to nationalism are a diversion (actually i think they are worse, but that’s another story).

it’s not nation v nation. it’s elite v the rest of us.
