Beautifully done as always. Thanks, Elliott.
Fox News Sunday: “How big a role should the government play in our economic recovery?” White House Council of Economic Adviser Austan Goolsbee; Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL); Google CEO Eric Schmidt; and Fred Malek, chairman of Thayer Lodging Group and Thayer Capital Partners.
I see the average working American doesn’t get a seat at the table with 4 plutocrats discussing how big a piece of the taxpayers’ livelihood should they funnel through the government to their fellow plutocrats. Taxpayers don’t get a say in it, they just get to pay for it.
Morning all. Thanks Elliott – Looks like rethug tool bob scheiffer has the despicable power whore newt gingrich on display. Now he is on the religious circuit.
http://thinkprogress.org/2009/…..-paganism/
So, you have your own 30 minute Sunday morning talk show. In the past week a physician was shot dead in his church, the President makes a major speech in the heart of Islam, unemployment is rising, healthcare cost are soaring and then there’s Iran, China, N. Korea looming on the international front. So many meaty topics to tackle, which one do you choose? None of course! Instead you give a seminar for Michael Steel and Newt Gingrich on “How to Attack Democrats So You Can Make Sure Nothing Gets Done”.
It’s too early this Sunday morning schmuck, to get into name calling, oops too late Tweety, I already did it. Twice.
I expect a lot of whining about the fact that Hillary kicked Bibi’s ass. But I won’t have to listen to it because I canceled my cable TV.
I think the Pukes are just digging themselves deeper and deeper putting people like Newt on every week. He’s become the face of the Republic Party, and it ain’t pretty.
Good morning Elliot.
None of it will get to me today. Starting the day off with something pleasant here.
Oh yeah, newtie is a lying cretinous asshole.
Good morning, pups. It’s just Friedman and Kristof this morning because MoDo and Frank Rich are off today. The Moustache of Wisdom says “After Cairo, It’s Clinton Time” and that the follow-up to the president’s speech will have to be led by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Her first big test: Iraq. Mr. Kristof, in “Rising Above I.Q.,” says three groups may help debunk the myth of success as a simple product of intrinsic intellect.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got either eggs Benedict or eggs Florentine. Yesterday I saw the first tiny little Sweet 100 tomatoes, and there are buds on the bell peppers. Still looking for the first eggplant blossom, though. Have a great day.
Why does anyone think we want to hear the noise of Newt?
My other news, since I often get an early shot of the Matthews show…it has been replaced here by TODAY. So, no more Chris for me, and I usually enjoy his panel.
I have said this before but I think that Newt is the embodiement of everything that is vile in american politics.
Good Morning! and you’re welcome.
Nothing like a lingering cup of tea on the veranda,
now if I only had a veranda.
Not sure why I still am surprised at how lame the scheduling is for these shows is anymore, Newtie all aflutter because we’re beset by pagans, vandals, and goths, with a few ostrogoths tossed in on the west side.Scarrry.Scarry.Scary.
Good morning everyone & thanks for your work Elliott.
Mercifully, the day is gorgeous and so I’ll be spending it all outdoors, except for loading audiobook discs on my ipod.
I think I saw SanderO on Book-TV during the night. I leave the TV on low sound all night long & it usually puts me back to sleep after a few minutes when I wake up. (Otherwise I risk getting my mind going on some personal subject & fully waking up.) Anyhow, I can’t remember what the book or author was, but I think I recognized SanderO. The camera was on him & his wife, in the audience, for a good 30 seconds.
That’s a lovely selection, thanks.
Fortunately, we live in a country where professional journalists,
unlike filthy bloggers, are unswayed by the political views of their
employers or themselves. In my local dead tree, from the AP:
Morning, everyone. Here’s what I’ll be watching:
Allan, reply no worky
This is an interesting take on modern journalism from one of Bill Moyers’s guests last friday, Jay Rosen.
http://journalism.nyu.edu/pubz…..ressthink/
Ha! I thought I was the only one who left the TV on at night. Lulls me back to sleep if I wake up, and helps mask tinnitus too.
what a surprise solai ;)
Who are you rooting for?
It’s a “gettin’ old” thing, I think. I don’t sleep as well as I used to.
It seems to be warm enough to sit outside & read while I finish my coffee, and there’s nothing on TV for me. My wifi doesn’t work outside as the stone walls of the kitchen are 2 feet thick. So I’ll see you all later.
Federer.
Later eCAHN, it is a lovely June day, who could ask for more pleasant weather? (unless there was a seabreeze)
It is going to be a pleasant day here in CO and I think if we had a seabreeze I would be quite aprehensive.
Morning, and thanks again Elliot. Did you guys see this report on the tainted syringes and how the FDA screwed up on it?
Sad…
That’s shocking
we sure take a lot for granted. I guess I thought those plants were run by germaphobes
kd was on Prairie Home Companion yesterday. She’s picked up the banjo, said she has since found out it’s a chick magnet. Too funny.
On the veranda.
More than sad………unforkin’ insane! It’s getting to the point that people *may* have a greater chance to survive illness if they stay at home and do/take nothing.
And in keeping with the incompetence at the FDA, wonder how badly Holding is gonna manage to screw up this particular prosecution?
In case you missed Meet the Press last week, and are longing for it today:
The Bobblespeak Translation
We have met the press and they are a$$holes.
lol
Good Morning Ellie and Pups.
… what oldnslow said at #1. Ellie, you’re amazing!
so-o-o… Solai! We here will root for Federer also. Sounds like a delightful way to enjoy the morning. Do you grunt and yell for him at every shot? *G*
c’mon. tell us what you really think! heh
i wonder if some of the press-types check in at the Lake to see what they really said. Most times it comes thru loud and clear, bobbling and all.
Just about.
tennis is best for bobbleheads
These shows and their guest are so status quo…endless war…no single payer/affordable health care….no safety net for this depression for the state governments or main street…the US Constitution is old fashioned shit…Hugh’s list
whoa, You see that?
Hey gang! I got one of our floors done yestidie. Now, to wait for kitty naptime and tackle s’more. Teh beeoootiful shine hurts the eyes. I’m sorely jealous, eCAHN. If ever there were a good time to have an ipod!?!!!
Our rose-breasted grosbeak pair now come down and land on the feeder as soon as they hear me take the lid off the oil sunflower barrel. They’re spoiled rotten, as are we. They’re so plump, they look like something out of a toy catalog. ;->
no, I don’t have the tennis on, was watching the Foxy News AllStars
That is a crack-up!
I can’t watch anymore. So I wait and skim through, holding hands at the Lake. Puppy Cliffnotes. Thanks much, everyone.
My honey’s least favorite question from his teaching days: “Will this be on the test?”
A fan(?) ran on the court, tackled by security. Monica Seles comes to mind.
Good morning pups. The police were out in (discrete) force today on the quais and helicopters hovering over Notre Dame this morning. I guess that means the Obama’s are here. I walked over to the Louvre to take another look at the Poussin’s and secretly hoping I might see Michele and the girls. No such luck. But the paintings were as awesome as ever. Free admission today. Sometimes good things happen to bad people.
Beautiful spoilios, Adie.
*OOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFF*
*AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHH*
yikes. makes you wonder what security was watching instead of what they were supposed ta!
I just read that the Obamas were at Notre Dame, listened to a child’s choir, and the Prez lit a candle.
Coming up, Kurtz going to discuss whether a talk show host can be held accountable for his speech. From Kurtz’ tone, my guess is he thinks no. He was pretty dismissive in the teaser, whether he intended to be or not.
pardon my french, but was he gelded before or after getting his job on the telly. he drives me nuts.
i know, i know. sorry ma! i’m going……… *hides behind drapes*
Siun’s upstairs gang.
Way late to this thread, but Elliott! A business opportunity for us! Virtual Verandas. Booyah!
clink!
*sigh* a “serious” conversation with Newtie on Sotomayor. He’s so full of it, he has to wear ear plugs.
