Hey, remember when Rush said he hopes Obama fails? I wonder if Rush does.
With all of this unemployment, and the recession, look at the drastic drop in tax revenue to the government, so their… deficit projections and… government revenue are already way off, and it doesn’t matter a hill of beans. The worse it gets, is my point, the better for him… for his designs.
So… if Obama fails and makes the economy worse, that’s good for him and "his designs"? Which means that if Rush roots for Obama to fail, he’s actually rooting for him to succeed, right?
Or is Rush shrewdly rooting for Obama to fail by succeeding too much? Or is he rooting for him to fail to succeed enough to fail?
Truly, he has a dizzying intellect.

Eli!
And, Princess Bride!
Not necessarily in that order.
But not, however, “Princess Eli”.
Not a good look for me.
I think he is too big to fail, unless he’s pretending to be too big, in which case, we would think that he’s trying to get us to look at the other glass. And, so on. God, it’s Friday night and I have a big pot of Gumbo on. What to do? Which argument to listen to?
Well, Your Highness.
Maybe he’s just dizzy.
Too much Viagra diverts bloodflow from the brain…
Not a good look for me.
and how do you know this?
heya Eli.
Heya jayt.
One of the checkers at my market has a very “explicit” mouth and today she said “did you hear what that Rush guy said” *&&%*((*%^%Y. It was hilarious. Told her it would rot her brain to listen to Rush.
OT- Wow guys, Rachel just reported that Dr. Tiller mailed in a check to a pro-choice group just before he was murdered. Coming up now…
Taint far to go.
Hi Eli and pups, whenever PBS radio has a lull I check out Rush. I really try to listen and put myself in his mindset.
It is impossible.
He gave his life for the cause of women – not many people have done that. I will always honor him.
It really is an alternate reality, and a very unpleasant one at that. Even the one where the dinosaurs never died out would be better.
When someone like David Duke has this to say in response to Limpballs what else is there to say? Even David frikin Duke gets it…
“Limbaugh, a recent addict to illegal drugs, has no business making personal attacks against me for my past,” Duke said. “I have consistently supported true equal rights, stating again and again that I support the best-qualified person regardless of race in hiring and promotions.”
What infuriates me is how the anti-abortion fanatics essentially characterized his work as the exact opposite of what it was. These were not women casually deciding to abort viable fetuses at the last minute on some kind of whim.
…whenever PBS radio has a lull I check out Rush. I really try to listen and put myself in his mindset.
It is impossible.
I suspect you may have been using too much of your brain. Gotta dial that waaay back…
When David Duke says he’s less racist than you are…
eli, I have pointed out before, rush is a “secret democrat”
no kidding, he made the flip during bush’s second term, he made a deal to be as obsurd as possible in an attempt to drive republicans to vote democratic
this was brilliant strategy and rush as a brilliant recruiting agent for the dnc
no kidding, tiz absolutely true
every time he says something rediculous, think;
*secret democrat driving voters out of the republican party*
hope that helps
Yep. That’s a real show-stopper right there.
Wow, you might actually be onto something – that would certainly explain why he’s happily bankrupting ClearChannel with his $400 million contract.
In a jailhouse interview Scott Roeder complained that he is being treated like a criminal.
I’m not sure that is the case. He might just have wanted justice for all. Maybe, women benefited from that. I didn’t know him, but, he sure was a man of faith.
yup!!!…all part of the plan my old friend, all part of the plan, sit back and watch a true master destroy the republican party
Sigh. Talk about people unclear on the concept…
He’s really working that old insanity defense, isn’t he!
His complaint centers on the fact that he is being treated like a criminal without having been convicted of any crime. Never mind that he carried out a death sentence on someone who had not been charged with, much less convicted of a crime.
My understanding of the criminal justice system is that most people are incarcerated between the time of their arrest and the time a jury renders a verdict. Is Roeder not aware of this custom?
Assuming facts not in evidence: Rush doesn’t know what a paradox is.
ehhhh.. the chalice from the palace holds the pellet with the poison ..
and two doxs make a pair .. hmmm ..:)
I don’t think that’s a requirement…
But if a paradox falls in a forest and Rush is not there, does that still make it a paradox? Or, even if he is there, and he doesn’t hear it, is it still a paradox? (You can take this comment out and shoot it.)
Unless they can make bail. I think the confusion might stem in part from Roeder imagining himself as a Divine Agent, a misconception shared by (among others) the previous U.S. president.
I read this quite some time ago.
Present this dilema to a “pro life” individual. It’s always interesting to hear the answer.
There is a clinic with 2 rooms. One room holds 80 frozen embrios, in the other room there is a 4 year boy.
The Clinic is on fire.
Who do you save?
Yeah, I’m pretty sure he’s pissed off that the cops aren’t slapping him on the back and congratulating him on a job well done.
Love Princess Bride. Rush, not so much. I don’t think he will ever make it into the Great Books.
Setting aside that pro-life people (or my prejudice about them, since I think I don’t know any) can’t think complexly, what kind of responses have you gotten?
Are the kid’s parents rich?
And then Bay Buchanan complains that poor Marc Epstein is the victim of a left wing lynching.
http://washingtonindependent.c…..us-epstein
yes – acting as the Right Hand of doG, in smiting things that are, ummm, smite-worthy, is a well-known mitigator in bail equations.
‘Course, when the bail is “NO bail”, the math gets a little tricky….
Excellent point.
Yeah, that was an awesome word-choice right there. She actually made him out to be some kind of heroic martyr.
…Bay Buchanan complains…
amazing how often those words appear in precisely that order….
LOL … Rush thinks a paradox is what Chin-ee was looking at when he shot his buddy in the face …
Eli !
Petro!
Umm … save the Embryos and let Jesus save the boy ! *g*
How’s it going, dude ? Any great plans for the weekend ?
Surely he’s old enough to find his own way out. It’ll teach him a valuable lesson in Self-Reliance.
I didn’t know if bail was denied or set out of reach.
Is it okay to be grateful that he didn’t kill anyone else before he was apprehended? Seems like these whack-jobs usually set the bar a little higher.
Re-watching Babylon 5 and taking pictures of the Three Rivers Arts Festival. At least that’s the plan right now, but things can always change.
The responses have been varied. I have learned that republics are capable of nuance when they want to be….
Most answer they would save the LIVE boy.
I’m not sure what you are saying. But, Hi Dude.
Maybe leave Jesus out of this. Just saying.
Hey Petro any word on those debates yesterday. All I heard was that it was real fireworks.
Saw a picture of Bay somewhere today and has she had some “work” done ! Looks a little less like Pat now. New hairdo, too. Bet she’s going to run for something.
Nice ! My wife’s in-laws are coming over … what a pain in the ass that bunch is ! *g*
Happy to hear my prejudice is false. And that many appreciate the difference between actual life and potential life.
Perhaps they would like to watch some Babylon 5. It’s very good…
I haven’t heard from her yet … expect to do so, sometime this weekend.
Or are realistic enough to know that most frozen embryos get destroyed anyway…
What??? They all aren’t made into snowflake babies? /s
Grand Wizard?
demi !
The first religious joke I ever heard was from a Catholic I worked with. He said, “Jesus Saves but Moses Invests !”
I realized then, the difference between religious people and fanatics.
Here is the answer to your question yesterday about the origin of the name “Jebus.” It is a reference to an episode of The Simpsons titled, “Missionary: Impossible.”
FWIW, no actual deities were harmed during production of the episode.
Using “who” gives the forced birther the advantage. It gives the embryos a human persona. 80 vs 1.
LOL !
Well it is interesting that they have to be presented with a dilema between saving one or the other. It doesn’t detour them from their extreme P.O.V. and most certainly doesn’t change their mind about being “pro life”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0Vkfr2mLyU
That would be your very own parents, Pet!! Unruly couple?
In fairness, it shouldn’t be difficult to carry 40 frozen embryos AND a 4-year old. Then again, forget to wear the glove when reaching into the liquid nitrogen and there’s a pretty good chance one of your arms might fall off.
Almost as annoying as my girlfriend’s fella!
I wonder if the answers are different if the four-year-old’s a girl.
Ha! Second Tuesday of next week?
Oh, ha. I actually went to a “bible study” called the gospel according to the Simpsons. They deal with religious issues alot.
Back in the day when I used to talk about medical economics (not my field but an important part of macroeconomics, as everyone now knows what I was talking about over 15 years ago), I sometimes ran into a client who would argue that there is no amount of money that is too much to save a life. It was in the context of the disproportionate amount of medical expense incurred in the last year of life, or the extraordinary amount used on certain illnesses. I would counter by reminding that medical resources are limited, and that the more that gets spent on one person means that other people are dying for lack of medical care. Just because the first is visible and the latter is unnoted in the press does not make the latter’s lives less valuable. I usually received looks of disgust, because I just didn’t get it.
Close Loo Hoo … my siblings and their kids.
Well Done, deciphering that !
In all the conversations I’ve had with “pro life” folks about the subject. This dilema presents the only scenario they can conceive of thinking differently about it.
OT For all those men who are unemployed the Shady Lady Bordello out of Las Vegas will be hiring male prostitutes – between the ages of 30 and 50. Does it surprise anyone that there’s a Nevada Brothel Assn.?
Surprised me.
Yeah, that’s when I do all my cleaning.
Quite the optimist.
Once ya get the embryos outta the nitrogen whadaya put ‘em in?
Is Dick Cheney’s heart available?
It was a pretty hilarious episode. Starts with Homer phoning in a phony contribution of $10,000 to PBS. They send out the “Pledge Enforcement Division” to help him find his checkbook. Teletubbies, Sesame Street characters, etc. chasing him down the street…
There’s also the issue of the value of life, which I’d guess pro-lifers would have difficulty dealing with. Again, not my field of economics, but the simple principle is that people put a value on their lives every day, as evidenced in how much insurance they pay for, risks they take, etc.
Great episode … “The Movementarians” is also one of my faves.
No. “Dick Cheney’s heart” is a myth.
Whatever you do, don’t carry them in your mouth. You thought getting your tongue frozen to the pump handle was bad…
Ya put them in 80 healthy, Christian wimmen … *g*
Namaste SD !
Umm … do they have Health coverage ?
So the pacemaker is just for show?
IMO, they put a far greater value on “unborn” life. Once the child is born, that child and their parent/s are on their own. Don’t expect one iota of the compassion they held for that child before it began breathing.
The Movementarians episode is one of the only instances I can think of when Cletus came out on top. Usually his luck is limited to the “If anybody ever tells you a hog won’t eat a finger, they’s lyin’,” variety.
Mechanical heart, inserted in utero.
Soon as I typed that 2 answers came to mind. Yours and “Octomom.” Ewwwww, tacky.
ROFL … EDP !
There’s a saying I read once: They’re not pro-life, they’re pro-birth.
roeder’s bail was set at $5m ..
It’s actually an AM radio so he can listen to Rush and the ball games. Wired right into his evil little brain.
LMAO !
Of course they do. They have republic plan. Hope like hell that you don’t need healthcare.
Right. He spread that story around to cover for the fact that he’s an immortal being of tremendous evil power.
Randall Terry better not come knockin’ at my door looking for bail money.
Is there a transmitter? Dubya was listening to *someone* at the 2004 debates.
Ding!
That too.
I was once in a long car ride between appointments with a salesman who turned out to be R.C. pro-life. As he was a colleague, I let him run on for quite awhile without commenting (can’t remember how the subject came up), but finally burst out that pro-lifers think life begins at conception and ends at birth. He took it well, and said that he & his wife worked to try to get adoptions to take care of the children whose parents couldn’t take care of them. Put me in my place.
But I’d guess he is unusual.
Or if either the embryos or the child are Muslim.
Part of the pro-life movement is definitely about controlling women’s bodies, which means keepin’ ‘em barefoot & pregmant.
My late friend who owned a manufacturing business in VT described a Xtian fundamentalist wedding of one of his professional female employees, with all the vows about the primacy of the husband, obedience, etc. Pretty freaky.
That’s nice, but trying to eliminate abortions through adoption is like trying to eliminate the deficit by cutting pork.
Yeah, I would agree with you. They don’t care if the parent/s can’t take care of the child. They don’t think about the price society pays, and ultimately many of these poor children. It’s not really hard to digest when you think about the fact that these people would rather a woman died carrying a pregnancy that is not viable rather than have options in the late term.
When the Pill hit the market in ‘64 it empowered women to a larger extent than (probably) any invention in human history. “Social conservatives” have been trying to put that genie back in the bottle ever since.
I could have more empathy for the “pro life” folks if they were a little more concerned about preventing unwanted pregnancies. Unfortunately, the same individuals are frequently opposed to sex ed and contraception, particularly for teens, which is the age group that needs all the help they can get.
ROFLMAO. Where were you 25 years ago when I had that conversation!
Do social conservatives make any noise when they have sex? Other than the dude farting, that is.
Yes, pro-lifers tend to favor policies which maximize the demand for abortions. Go figure.
lol! It’s probably over in the time it takes to pop the tab on the next brewsky.
It gives them more to froth at the mouth about. Ideological Darwinism, you see.
I wrote a report (at direction of management re new millenium) in summer 1999, titled: There’s Nothing New About the New Economy. In it I listed my top 10 innovations of all time. The Pill was on the list, along with a parenthetical that male readers might not fully understand. As it was Wall St., I never received any negative feedback, though I’ll never know how many did not “share” my opinion.
just the mouse clicks and keyboard typing as they enter their credit card information.
According to Rachel earlier this evening a group is going to be picketing clinics all over the country during Tiller’s funeral with signs reading
“The Pill Kills”. The stupid hurts.
That dang Pill! It is the reason so many conservative white males are out of work because their women aren’t getting pregnant and staying home. Almost as bad as the illegals coming over. Get Lou Dobbs on this quick!!
Using Google to find out why their peter is orange as they tear open another bag of Cheetos.
Depends on whether it is with their wives or their girlfriends
Saw that. Only reason for that is controlling women’s bodies. Nothing abortive about the pill.
Wonder what the guys think about all those wasted sperm that might have been babies. Think of all those lives saved. /s
Yes it does.
More like too stupid to breathe.
Every sperm is sacred.
Early in my career I did get confronted with why did I want to be a professional and take a job away from a man who had to support a family. Knew it was a story hanging around, but never thought I’d have to confront it in person. Also, one potential employer called my husband to find out if it was OK with him if I traveled on business. For decades I thought those days had passed, only to be confronted with the W administration.
Good point. If you pointed out how gamete-wasteful human reproduction really is just by nature, could you make their heads explode?
Why does a picture of Short Ride and GrahamCracker come to mind?
Should have known I wasn’t the first to think of that. I’m not a Monty Python afficiando, but that’s a keeper!
You must click on rf’s link at 122.
Thanks a lot for putting Lieberman and sex in my brain together. I just threw up in my mouth.
It’s got a good beat and is easy to dance to… My bird thought so anyway.
Could do a whole bway musical around that song, on the pro-life theme. Michael Bennett’s never around when we need him.
If Susan Boyle had chosen THAT song she probably would have won.
Not so sure. Needs the children’s choir to be really effective.
Very poignant LTE in today’s print Strib by a Catholic woman who carried to birth against doctor’s recommendation for terminating the pregnancy…severe fetal abnormality, two months of significant physical and emotional pain for the mom, induced labor, the cute little red haired girl had a solid esophagus, intestines that were a fibrous mass…and starved to death in a few days.
Took courage for that letter writer to come forward and advocate for why there are late term abortions and the Dr. Tillers are needed.
More women speaking out are needed, too.
That’s what gets lost in the pro-life side of the story. Someone a couple of days ago, right after Tillman’s murder, posted a comment about his/her knowledge of women’s situations who have late term abortions. They are all horror stories, that are not made better by trying to birth the fetus, who usually dies anyhow.
Can’t understand why people who believe in god do not think that there could be a reason why god gave humans science. But that’s just me.
late night elephants on parade upstairs
“Recent” drug addict, he says? Recent? From what I can find, it was about 2001 that the news stories came out about his sudden hearing loss and he publicly announced he was addicted to painkillers in 2003.
or anti-contraceptive since the Republican party’s policy is to pretend to be Catholic, so they can win Michigan in a presidential race
“Truly, he has a dizzying intellect.”
I was unaware that “dizzying” was a side affect of Oxicodine.
You keep using that word.
I do not think it means what you think it means.
With friends like Rush, who needs enemies?
The fact is Obama does not have to prove anything to a fat white narcissit, drug taking stupid fool. Only the stupid listen to Limbaugh and his audience seems to be stupid. In other words if they had a brain or could think they would be dangerous. However,we progressive cannot let up on Obama to make sure he stands up for the issues for which he was elected. In other words stay focus on the issues and not to get distracted by trival nonsense of which the REP are expousing. It also true that Obama has to make some changes in his cabinet. For example changes in the economic team such as Geithner and Summers get rid of them. The other is persons on the national security team such as Gates, commanding general in Iraq and others. I also think Obama going to need to come up with a new stimulus plan is own plan with input from those outside of his cabinet period.
