Hi miss katymine
NYT Has Obama’s latest attempt to help the war criminals. basically… no evidence would be needed.. they could just plead guilty and be executed.
U.S. May Permit 9/11 Guilty Pleas in Capital Cases
today is baby boy’s 27th birthday…. OMG… am I that old?
Temp dropped 11 degrees today…. very windy which has not helped with the wildfires….. looks like the historic train station in Casa Granda is a 3 alarm fire….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaa3iPBy_Jw
This could be our last night with a low in the 50’s… I’m soaking it in as much as humanly possible. Friends are smoking ribs out back right now.
Sorry to hear about the fire.
Register and enjoy this. It will change your life..)
first week with temps below normals in the low 90’s…..
Hey ES are you going to netroots this summer?
In Pennsylvania? I seriously doubt it.. Pay off my house in the next year, dawg willing. Then I plan to do quite a bit of traveling… including/especially to meet some fellow pups.
done, and thanks!
Bella Vista ain’t too far
Been listening to the Staples Singers show on the front page tonight, among others. Wow.
Not far at all.. I miss shopping at the butcher/fish market in the square… is it still there?
Hi ES, I like that 2nd group you have up.
And how’s the wing?
Hey Margot.. luv BJL.
If i am awake I’m practicing reaching for the sky with this old wing. Doc told me i may never be able to stick my arm straight up in the air again.. I intend to prove him wrong. *s*
Went right to the SRV page…saving that for when I have more time.
Well, the square is still there…
thought it would a great way to see all my buddies and might have more strength by then…. of course the heat my kill me….
If you want to travel let me know….. had great trips to Alaska, Victoria island, to the grand canyon by train, Elmore and I have been trying vacations to include planes, trains and ferries. The Canadian ferry system is quite nice….
do you want to travel domestic or international?
Heh.. it’s expensive, but worth every penny for fresh flown in seafood. Sure hope it’s still there. I haven’t been to BV in three or more years. Used to drive over there once or twice a month.
Through Roaring River?
And I cannot forget Elmores cute little travel trailer……If I can get on the pill form of my chemo then would not be tied down to Mayo once a week….
Love to go back to places I visited years ago across the country….. Yellowstone, a hot springs in Idaho that my oldest had his first bath in a hot springs….
Both… I need to get out to New Mexico, over into California, and up to Washington. Would love to see D.C. since the Big Poodless are doing such great work there. Really want to put a face to the inspiration.
Back to old Mexico might be my first vacation abroad, but I really can’t say at this point.
I don’t like flying at all anymore.. airports are so fascist, i just get mad at myself for ever considering them… especially once I walk in their doors.
No, but I do like to take a southern back/dirt road along the southern border of RR area… cut from ES up to Seligman.
Kind of drive you can do with a gun and a cocktail. My parents traveled a lot, travel trailers and a concerted effort to show their girls the country….. since Dad worked for the Forest Service, it was national parks and monuments….. Devils Tower, their fantastic prairie dog community which drive the lab nuts, the Tetons, Dinosaur National Park….
Watched Indians (we call them that here) pow pow at Taos, at the south rim grand canyon, promise to stay sober at the Basqueo celebration in NV……and watch the wild horses run through the countryside
want to visit my grandbabies and spend time with them….. this is the 2nd time that I have spent time with my nephew……he needs to get to know his Aunt
Your grandbabies? Aren’t all your kids in AZ?
Yah-Tah-Hey from Chumash Land ES, Katy and Dr.B are jammin tonight. How are the ribs you animal eate? I am part Vegan now.
You are what you eat. S)
my oldest son lives outside of Tacoma WA with his 4 girls….. the baby turned a year and I have not had the pleasure of meeting her….
Good evening, bigbrother. Thought of you when I shared this with Dr Bong. It’s a treasure trove.
I did the veggie.. even macrobiotic, thing for years. It’s not for me.. I have no problem with being a carnivore. Variety is the spice of life..)
Well that’s definitely worth getting on plane. *s* I have two nieces in WA.. I really want to see them asap.
I would love to visit my brother in New Mexico, and several friends since childhood are still there too.
also have to make sure I am physically ready for 4 girls…. can get down on the floor but getting up is questionable. found myself stuck out next to the pool deck trying to hook up the vacuum and no matter what could not get up…. poor Jon had to haul me up….
Can do in the house as there are many things to pull myself up with….. do a weird get back on my knees and do a butt slide up the leather sofa until have most of butt in seat. I know, exercise helps….. right now just making sure I can do all the activities of daily living……
drive-by, just home from a concert and off to bed. well, i do like that black joe lewis and the honeybears. and i love seeing katymine up and about. hi and gnite, folks.
My mother… and roasted green chiles are in New Mexico. A hike in the Jemez (warm springs) is high on the list too.
I am discovering new consciousnesses as the chemistry is soo different. Higher levels… it is an adventure for me. More salads, fruits and slowly more raw veggies…learning interesting combinations too. It is more fun than sacrifice. Almost everyday I plant edibles.
One of my neighbors is remodeling her home and she has such an interesting landscape like a little meditation garden with mini trees in casual rows. She gave me some Lemon Verbena it is so nice. I think I want to explore herbs next. Lots of cool things to do. My giant sunflowers are growing like gorillas thick stalks…they love the rich soil. Such rewards. We got a gift of 1/2 inch of rain last night.
Hi Margot and Katy
I don’t mean to compare my situation with the severity of yours ( all your meds!).. but I still have a hard time if I lay on my stomach.. and try to get up. Won’t get in my hammock at all… can’t quite be certain I could get out of it safely.
I bet you laugh a lot at yourself these days… I know I do.
Well.. you aren’t going to tell us who you saw tonight, and how they were? *hand on hip*
I have greek oregano, sage, rosemary and thyme growing right in the shade part of the flower bed….. the oregano just took off and is doing well… mint, basil and tarragon growing in pots in another shady spot…
Love to stuff chicken and other meats with a bundle of herbs and cook it…add lemon slices and it is outstanding….
Lemon verbena (love that plant) should bloom year round in your neck of the woods, no?
Made a promise to Elmore that I would think before I do something …. think getting back on my feet…..you see I still have problems with restaurant seating…… the booth is too low and cannot get enough leverage to stand…. the chair is too heavy and cannot move it away from the table…..I hate booths that do not allow the table to be moved so that I can get the leverage…..my nightmare is a booth with a fixed table and seating so low the table top is around my chin….. sucks because Elmore is in Orando doing NBA
I will ask my farmer friends if the herbs can be started with root grow on cuttings. Sounds nice to be surrounded by herbs. Be easy on yourself…I can’t probsbly do what you are doing. I have trouble getting up early…love lazing. Did a little labor today moving compost around and shoring up some soil beds for the red potatoe plants.
I love to let my thougts languish and rumilate on possible and present projects.
ok…. falling asleep …. had two naps today and hopefully will sleep all night again….. I sleep so hard that I have a really hard time waking up….
Nite ES….. maybe we can meet up on a trip to NM?
Nite to everyone….
This must have been amazing in person!
Do you suppose that “pro-life” Americans are willing to pay to keep the elderly alive?
IMHO, in a decade or two, it’ll be like Soylent Green. People will be given the option: “Go home gracefully, or die for lack of medical care. After all, medical care is a privilege afford it, not a God-given right.”
If I drive westward from NM to CA.. i would love to make a friend stop in AZ, katymine. Otherwise we might meet up in WA, who knows? *s*
Need to get my night owl self in bed too… work starts again in a few hours.
Good night firedogs.
We are close to sea levwl with cool lite sun but my neighbors herb plants are happy and robust so maybe the answer to your question is yes. All new to me.
What is your work?
bb, I just got some lemon balm to plant. Melissa officinalis I think is the Latin name. But who cares if you can get it at Kmart.;) It’s great to add lemony flavor to rice, tea, etc.
“I’m Broke” is a great talented together group and hugely good listening tune. Great pick ES. Thanks
My puter crashes when I play these tubes…don’t know why missing some dll or other
cancel
Margot the Land of Enchantment has a lot of sandstorms…lived in Albuquerque twice, Why do they call it that?
Because of the scent of the air after a rain
The blue, blue sky
Pinon smoke smells so good
Mountains, red, blue, white, yellow, orange colors…
Beauty.
anyone home?
Good morning, Millineryman.
Well, I’ve got the coffee going (Kona today), and the dog sleeping on the chair next to me.
Good day coming up, I’m heading down to the farmers’ market in half an hour.
Good morning beard5, sounds like the day is off to a good start.
Good morning beard5 & Millineryman. My coffee’s driping, much stronger than Kona: 2/3 french roast, 1/3 mocha java.
Still cloudy dreary but it’s supposed to get sunny as the day progresses.
Local farmers’ market is Sunday 10-4. I wish it were Saturday instead, but nothing to be done about that.
Bzrezinski sez that nukes create peace because of MAD. So I say, let every country get nukes, then war would stop. /s
Good morning, all.
Single payer in the news, even if not on the table.
Good morning, pups. Gail Collins is off today, so it’s Blow and Herbert. Mr. Blow, in “Pot, Meet Kettle,” says the picture that some Republicans have painted of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor doesn’t seem to be supported by her actions. Mr. Herbert, in “48 of 48,” says a rural prep school in South Carolina lifts disadvantaged students out of the academic doldrums and puts them on a solid college track.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got French toast with maple syrup. We’ve had rain for the past 2 days, and are in for a rainy weekend, so my plans to get plants to replace the bolted lettuces will have to be put on hold. The dahlias and volunteer zinnias are thriving, however. Have a great day.
I guess your drought is officially over? Are the reservoirs full now?
Lake Lanier (the reservoir for Atlanta) is filling up, and we’re about 6 inches over normal rainfall for the year, but they haven’t lifted all the use restrictions yet. I guess they want to be sure the pattern of regular rain will last.
Good idea to keep the restrictions in place until the reservoirs are completely filled, especially after the severity of the drought that you had. It also takes some time for ground water to recover, especially if the rain is hard & fast rather than slow & soaking. But I’m glad the water situation is on the mend.
For those of you who remember when the Imperial Sugar plant blew up here in Savannah, it’s making the front pages again. There was this article on Tuesday, in which a former VP turned whistleblower says there were no evacuation plans or working fire alarms, and in today’s paper there’s this article saying he was muzzled and ordered to withhold facts from the board.
One of the truly stupid things is that gray water use is illegal. Seems shortsighted to me…
If true, sounds criminal. It’s not as though fire alarms and fire drills are hugely expensive.
What do you mean that use of gray water is illegal? Do you mean that if you capture your clotheswasher water you can’t use it to water your lawn? How would you do that anyhow?
Graham (the whistleblower) was new to the company, came in 2007, and probably has nothing to lose by telling the truth. The company has declined to confirm or deny whether it had working fire alarms and an evacuation plan. You’d think that they’d be screaming “foul” and inundating the reporters with proof of safety drills if they had them.
Exactly. There are systems that can be installed to capture dishwasher and clothes washer water for reuse but they’re illegal in this state. This site has lots of information on gray water.
Righto. In this case, absence of evidence seems likely to be evidence of absence, to coin a phrase.
Thanks for the link. I didn’t know that such systems existed. However, I didn’t find the most important piece of information, which is: what do the systems cost?
Why are they illegal in GA?
I’ve got no idea why they’re illegal here. Probably misguided fear of something or other, or a case of being overly squeamish? Beats me. Raven and I have wondered about why in the past, as he’d love to install a system.
We get Weekend Tweety on Saturday morning here, and on this week’s show (why is Katty Kay always in the seat closest to Chris?) when asked for possible 2012 GOP candidates Gloria Borger said “Newt Gingrich, because he has new ideas.”
Really. She said that.
Goes to show you a good fumigation of the punditocracy is waaaay overdue.
Do you know what they cost? I have a well at my country house & electricity to pump water out of the ground is expensive, so depending on the cost …
OTOH, I don’t water my lawn. Outdoor water use at the house is limited to washing stuff and spot watering new plantings. I also have rain barrels that I can use for that purpose.
My gray water doesn’t go thru my septic. It goes into a dry well. Well, except for the kitchen. We’re not really sure where that goes. I think it goes into an old clay pipe. I know where the end of that pipe is, but there’s never a lot of wetness there, so my guess is that the pipe is cracked somewhere and that the water just seeps into the ground. At some point, the system will stop working and I’ll have to dig it up & do something else. But it’s worked for the 30 years I’ve owned the house, and my procedure is to leave well enough alone.
Morning all, Bill Moyer had another great show last night. The second segment was on the incompetense of the media. Jay Rosen was one of his guests.

Well, I’ve got to get it in gear and start on the work I’ve got to do. After I run the neighbor’s cat away from my bird feeders… She’s VERY effective at leaping up and grabbing a bird right off the feeder.
Yum,
french toast!
Pull Up a Chair…
I have no idea what they would cost. There may be systems for sale that could be found on Teh Great Gazoogle that would have prices, or there may be an FAQ section on the gray water site that covers cost. I’d love to be able to water the garden with gray water during the summer. It would cut the water bill in half. Gotta go — have a great day!
They’re arranged by hair color?
*wiping off monitor*
Good one, but if I was his wife I’d be wery, wery, suspicious.
oops. i’ve clearly screwed up. and besides i’m scared of the hands on hips thing – soooo the very next time i see you on the intertubes, i promise i’ll tell you – it was a truly awesome concert.
