A patriot loves his country and hates his government. Or, a patriot defends his country against his government.

If this country is what’s in the Constitution (it’ll have to do), I love it. If it is this country’s genocide, slavery, aggression, etc., I despise it.

Undone, I think your idea about about losing Fox from cable is a good idea. So I called Comcast corporate at this number: 215-665-1700. I spoke with an executive assistant of the president and said I no longer want to support Fox channel in any way because they incite murder, sedation, and hate. And that I want to opt out of receiving FOX. She was receptive and I will receive a call back today.
Lets find out what would happen if all readers called their cable corporations and did the same. Comcast: 215-665-1700.

I remember the “incident” in upstate NY when some fanatic killed a physician in his own home by sniping his target hundreds of feet away through plate glass windows after the sun had gone down and the lights were on inside the home. Here’s the story as it was unfolding,

Abortion Doctor Killed by Sniper in Upstate N.Y.

By JOHN J. GOLDMAN, TIMES STAFF WRITER
October 25, 1998

NEW YORK — A prominent abortion practitioner was shot and killed while sitting in his kitchen in upstate New York on Friday night by a sniper who waited in the shadows outside the house. The killing of Dr. Barnett Slepian, 52, who became the first fatality in a series of attacks on doctors in the area since 1994, set off a manhunt Saturday that extended into Canada.

Slepian, who once proclaimed, “The more that they come after me, the more I will dig in,” was killed only days after authorities had warned clinics of possible attacks.

Slepian had returned from Friday night services at a synagogue when the sniper, hiding near the swimming pool in Slepian’s backyard in Amherst, N.Y., fired the fatal shot from a high-powered rifle.

continued…

This is an example of missionary zeal.

Brendan “One Term” Byrne administered painful medicine and got re-elected. But that was really only because Sandman ran such an incredibly stupid camnpaign. I’m not up rtere anymore but I hear Corzine is in real trouble. hey, at least he wasn’t picked for Treasury Secretary. Now THAT’S a headache.

Good Morning, Firepups!

It’s sunny and pleasant in central Jersey, but thunderstorms are forecast for this afternoon, on primary day here in the Garden State. Gov. Corzine is not loved at the moment, as economic conditions are bad, and he has been attempting to clean up the mess left by borrow and spend administrations of the past [why yes, Christie Whitman and Jim McGreevey, we’re looking at you!], causing reductions in state services at a time when folks need them more. State workers are being furloughed (days without pay), and the larger municipalities (like Newark, for which I work) are doing the same. I have one friend who works for the state who actually is doing two jobs for one salary (she was selected to head one program, but if she left her current agency (now down to 3 employees) they would have to close up a big grant program — so she’s doing both jobs).

Corzine has token opposition. Former US Attorney Chris Christie (no relation to the former gov, but helpful for name recognition and generally pleasant associations) will be an easy victor over former mayor Steve Lonergan. NJ seems to have one of the few populations of centrist Republicans left, and they tend to vote for candidates that can win a substantial share of independents. We don’t like lunatics in NJ. Christie stands a reasonable shot at defeating Corzine in the general. NJ hates politicians who administer painful economic medicine (see: Florio, Jim).

Keep speaking the truth, Attaturk. The right made a pact with the devil (see: Nixon, Richard) when they pursued the Southern strategy. The only things they seem to believe are that government is the problem (courtesy of St. Ronnie) and that everyone is out to get them. Bloviators from Fox love to fan the flames, with the predictable result being crimes like the murder of the courageous Dr. Tiller, committed by paranoid freepers.

Work for peace, every day.

Didja see Matthews called the R’s “pissants” ??

Haven’t watched him lately….wading thru’ 60 minutes of dreck for the one or two good moments gets old. It’s probably on a vid clip somewhere but since I can’t watch, in what context did he use that pejorative?
