I wondered the same thing..and found this..

Music video for the band The 202’s made by myself and Jules Hackett. We made it by first shooting video of the band against a large white sheet lit from behind so as to silhouette them. We then cut it together as a video as normal and then projected it onto a table from above. We clamped a phonebook onto it and then drew around the silhouette onto each page. We skipped every other frame so we wound up drawing just under 3000 altogether in 11 phonebooks. Finally we photographed it with a canon 350D and imported the lot back to FCP. Good times!
Thanks to everyone who went digging around their homes and got us phonebooks, we were like junkies looking around for them.

I don’t know, maybe you are not doing it correctly. /s

I have an interesting story on how I turned off Faux Noise. Unfortunately Mayo seems to favor that network and it is found on in several areas. Either I avoid it or see if I can turn it.

I have cancer, kidney cancer and have been going through a very intensive evaluation and treatment at the Scottsdale, AZ Mayo Clinic. They found 2 brain tumors 3.8 and 3.2 cm. I had a what is called thin slice MRI of the brain to really look to see if there were more. Everything was backed up and I had to wait a long time. The waiting room had a small monitor with Faux…. screaming sound. At this point I was showing a lot of symptoms from the tumors, had aphasia where I could only say a handful of words…. I looked to see if I could turn the channel, turn down the sound… something but couldn’t. I left and stood outside the room to get away from it….. Then it dawned on me that there was a way to disconnect the power cord. I just walked up to the damn thing and unplugged the cord which was like a computer cord.

It was so pleasant except the elderly people who were waiting thought I was nuts but never said a word.

When I was done and going home all I could say to my boyfriend was ”I did a naughty thing” but could not tell him what it was…. it was weeks before I could tell him about unplugging Faux but kept saying ”I did a naughty thing” ….. Now it seems I did the correct thing….

I love it!

I read somewhere this evening.. We and Pakistan are creating as many pakistani refuges as there was in Rwanda.

I can picture the whole scene. You, a woman on a mission, yanking the plug from the wall, and the sudden blessed silence.

and this is well before some ‘international relief agency’ or ngo gets in and finds that not all the dead are ‘militants’, ‘taliban’ or ‘al queda’ but just plain folk, too.

BILL MOYERS: I have heard a couple from NPR. They seem to be right among the refugees who are fleeing there.

SHAHAN MUFTI: The refugees are outside of the war zone now. These are the people who have been internally displaced within the country. And they have been, actually, have been evacuated by the army. So before the army moved into these northern areas they disseminated information through radio, television, to tell the people to get out ’cause they were going to move in.

And we’ve heard of hundreds of thousands, maybe a million people, moving out of these areas. So, really, all the information that we are relaying as reporters, as the media, as information, really is coming from army press releases, for the most part.

There’s very little room to independently confirm a lot of the information. Especially in this most recent offensive. That is a huge thing that, as that reporters in Pakistan I know are dealing with. They’re referring to “alleged” military operations.

So they’re in a position where they can’t even independently confirm that an entire military operation took place. Let alone the figures of the Taliban militants dead, or how many civilian casualties there are, or how many armed forces– people in the armed forces have died. So that is one thing that’s very troubling, as a reporter.

JUAN COLE:Well, how many of them is impossible to know. But in Pakistan the estimates for fighters are small. 15 thousand. And the current military operation in the Swat Valley is pitting 15 thousand Pakistani troops against 4 thousand Taliban fighters.

That’s what’s being said. This is small. And the idea that these 4 thousand Taliban in Swat Valley, you know, can take over the capital of the country, or that they’re going to spread into the other provinces, which are ethnic provinces, like the Punjab and Sindh, where they’re very, very unpopular.

We have a Gallup Poll now, 60 percent of the Punjabis, who are the majority group in Pakistan, say that it’s very negative that there should be Taliban operating in Pakistan. And only ten percent say that it’s a positive. So in Pakistan, as a whole, this is a small group. It’s not a mainstream, big, mass movement.

There’s the number you were looking for. I missed it.

I often feel like the U.S. is heading towards some sort of Mexico Pakistan hybrid.

It sure looks like Bushco really F’ed the whole world……. how man refugees have they created…. Iraq, Dufar, Sudan, Pakastan, who knows what is going on in Sri Lanka and now Americans…. living in Bush and Cheney villages, tent cities, RV parks and our shelters are overflowing….

Destroyed the banking and the economy….. When I was in Oregon in January the state looked pretty healthy, stores open but now that Elmore got home he has see the effects all over the place……. GI Joes or just Joes is gone and since it was an anchor store… many of the stores around are done too…

Phoenix was at the stage what Portland is now….. Now they are tearing down restaurants, gone from boarded up to teardown in 6 months…..

What’s on my mind? Everyone here in Paris is thinking about the Airbus carrying 288 persons that mysteriously went down off the Brazil coast yesterday morning. No one knows why. Was it struck by lightening? If so, why didn’t the insulation systems and redundant circuitry protect the plain? Was it turbulence? If so, why no signal from the pilots? Very experienced pilots, excellent aircraft, disappeared no one knows exactly where. This is a mystery, folks

I saw some of the coverage about the plane today.
One possibility raised was unthinkable: that torsional stresses from a storm north-east of the coast of Brazil may have literally torn the airbus asunder in mid-air. At 30,000 feet.

And I’m thinking, a storm at 30,000 feet?

What’s the estimated altitude they would have been flying at the time? In other words, even in a worst case scenario, how much time would the pilots have had to send a message?

well that certainly wouldn’t allow for a mayday call.

What’s on my mind: After talking to my teen son about Dr. Tiller being gunned down in his church, he said he wanted to move to Canada. Or Ireland or Norway. Poor kid. I will have to mention someday that Ireland might have some troubles of its own still.

Norway sounds good these days.

Your link reiterates what I havw observes from the new administration. Katymine put it well toihjt too.
The population here in the USA has a very large disenfrachise from the main economy. There is very little to scavenger for survival with so many out there in survival mode.
I been thinking of poor familieas who have to take care of their aging relatives. Mr. Obama may have to face these realities next year has Christmas will be aweful for the retail industry and for tens of millions.
jis mistake was saving Wall street and throwing main street under the bus. Strip malls and tanking.
And the fifth largest economy in the world California is not worth bailin out? Who are these…. that left NOLA to fend for itself, for Americas work force and poor to go without a safety net. I saw it coming.
Even the farmers at farmers market are seeing less spending on food.
I saw it coming and have established a modest garden to keep away the hunger wolf. Defaults on credit cards, home loans, corporate bonds and auto loans are at an historic high,,,so what did the stock markets do today…they had a huge invcrease,
Americans will have to become self reliant the oligarchy owns our tax dollars.

I just watched a movie, “Interview” with Steve Buscemi and Sienna Miller.

Excellent movie! Has Buscemi ever made or been in a movie that wasn’t excellent?

If you’re sick of the ‘torture’ issue discussion then this movie will give you a different take on how antagonists or acquaintances can be in an interview/discussion.

It was originally Dutch, but remade in NYC by Buscemi and the Dutch crew and different actors. Miller plays a movie starlet and Buscemi is an international ‘hard’-news reporter who gets stuck interviewing her.

No tea served in this movie, just lots of liquor, wine, Tylenol & assorted other pills, cigarettes, coke and pizza (I think).
