Like a cult, contrary evidence just hardens the belief system of the stupid.

Late Night: Prop H8 |
| By: Lisa Derrick Tuesday May 26, 2009 8:00 pm |
I am angry, upset, furious, baffled and shocked by the Supreme Court of California ruling that upholds Proposition 8. In the long run, the ruling is not about same sex marriage, or if “opposite marriage” is the only morally correct form of marriage, but if minority rights can be voted away by a simple majority.
Psychic Sotomayor Strategy Scoop |

Thanks to my Superior Powers Of Mental Telepathy, I, and I alone, can provide a verbatim transcript of the GOP’s deliberations on whether or not to aggressively attack and risk alienating Hispanics and women:
As Goes the Chevy Volt, So Goes America? |
| By: emptywheel Tuesday May 26, 2009 5:30 pm |
Yes, I’m being a bit cruel, posting this the week that GM will probably declare bankruptcy. But that may make the question more apt.
As I told you all a million weeks ago, I had the opportunity to drive a mule version of the Chevy Volt around GM’s Tech Center about a month ago.
David Brooks Weeps/Shills for America’s Tortured Corporate Titans |
| By: Scarecrow Tuesday May 26, 2009 4:30 pm |
Did Rush Limbaugh finally get to David Brooks? How else to explain Brook’s about face on Obama, whom Brooks has repeatedly praised for his thoughtful, measured, and centrist decisions — i.e., those that David agreed with — but whom Brooks now subtly equates with Russian Czars and fascist jack boots?
“Statesman” Orrin Hatch: I’m a Cynical Horse-Trader, So Don’t Hold My Sotomayor Vote Against Me |
| By: Phoenix Woman Tuesday May 26, 2009 3:30 pm |
Watch Orrin Hatch, the Villagers’ idea of an Elder Statesman of the GOP, try to weasel out of his 1998 vote in favor of confirming Judge Sonia Sotomayor for the Second Circuit bench. Funny enough, Senator Hatch wasn’t singing that tune in 1992, when she first had to pass muster before the Senate to become a US District Court judge for the Southern Circuit of New York.

Reaction to Prop 8 Ruling: WTF?!? |

IANAL, but my considered opinion is: This is bullshit.
Sluggish Markets Take Off Like a Rocket on Sotomayor News |
| By: Phoenix Woman Tuesday May 26, 2009 1:00 pm |
Remember how the New York markets were expected to tank this morning, much as the Asian and European markets did, on news of the North Korea nuke launch? But then, shortly after the Sonia Sotomayor announcement, the Dow took off like a rocket, and the other markets took off with it, zooming to a 200-point gain. Rush Limbaugh and Mike Huckabee might not like “Maria”, but the markets apparently do.
