Conrad and Gregg have proposed attacking that larger problem by creating a bipartisan commission to examine the big entitlement programs — Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid — where savings must be found, and the tax systems that support them.

Labor will no doubt be disappointed by these sacrifices to the bill, but if it means getting something passed, they will probably be happy to make these concessions which satisfy the demands of critics like Blanche Lincoln, Mark Pryor, Jim Webb, Michael Bennet, Mark Udall and Ben Nelson.

The CIA has gotten a list of torture briefings into ABC’s hands. That list is inaccurate–and the CIA even admits it might be inaccurate. But ABC is treating as accurate, I guess because it worked out so well the last time CIA lied to ABC about torture.
