Bank of America gets cheap money from Treasury, and raises the interest rate on credit cards. It screws its paying customers to make up for losses from its non-paying customers.

If you want a sign of how thoroughly Gen. David Petraeus is taking command of the Afghanistan war, look no further than today’s surprise news that Lt. Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who ran special operations in Iraq for Petraeus during the 2007 troop surge, will be the new ground commander.

I know Republicans desperately want to kill meaningful health care reform, but I’m not sure having a former Bushie who’s made his great-grandchildren millionaires off the current screwed up system and the media team that cut the Swiftboat ads are the best messengers.

In his weekly radio address, President Obama called on the Senate to pass the Credit Card Holders Bill of Rights. He is also on record supporting the Employee Free Choice Act and the ability of judges to write down mortgages in bankruptcy.

It’s a shame that Democratic lobbyists are working overtime (and getting rich) opposing him.

For, as this says, there are some boldfaced limitations to “whatever the President says goes,” and the OLC lawyers not only knew that, but had a duty to say so…

Credible allegations of the use of chemical bombs in last week’s air strikes are being reported the same week Human Rights Watch demanded the release of the report on a previous incident. The Pentagon says the Taliban did it and the White House says we’ll keep bombing.

You would think the fiscal responsibility hawks would be delighted at the prospect to reduce the budget deficit by $210 billion over the next ten years, but alas it’s not to be. . .

The torture apologists want you to believe that the CIA never referred any torture for criminal investigation. But that doesn’t seem to be right.
