Franken-Coleman Update: When Even Rasmussen Says You’re Screwed

By: Phoenix Woman Wednesday May 20, 2009 6:45 pm

Cruised by the UpTake’s liveblog and spotted this Tweet from Rachel Stassen-Berger: ” Rt/ @Rasmussenpoll 54% Say Coleman shld concede;63% say Franken will win,16% expect Coleman win http://tinyurl.com/RR0203 #mncontest”. Wow. That’s the second time this week I suspect that longtime Republican pollster Scott Rasmussen didn’t get the result he wanted.

By: emptywheel Wednesday May 20, 2009 6:00 pm

Yes, I’m glad that Arlen “the Scrapple formerly known as Haggis” Specter has come out in support of Nancy Pelosi’s suggestion that CIA misled her in her September 2002 briefing.

“The CIA has a very bad record when it comes to — I was about to say ‘candid’; that’s too mild — to honesty,” Specter, a former chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said in a lunch address to the American Law

Newsom Denies Asking CA Supremes to Delay Prop 8 Opinion

By: Teddy Partridge Wednesday May 20, 2009 5:15 pm

The California Supreme Court was prepared to announce its decision tomorrow on Proposition 8, but has delayed the opinion at the request of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, because an announcement on Thursday would coincide with the thirtieth anniversary of the conviction of Supervisor Dan White for the murders of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk on the lightest charges possible, and the subsequent White Night riots, according to the website Towleroad with exclusive sources in City Hall.

The CIA Won’t Give Abu Zubaydah His Own Diaries

By: emptywheel Wednesday May 20, 2009 1:45 pm

The government is withholding key volumes from Abu Zubaydah’s diaries, which not only would reveal he was critical of 9/11, but that he was tortured at the hands of the CIA.

GOP Corporate Thugs Project Their Own Behavior onto Unions

By: Jane Hamsher Wednesday May 20, 2009 12:30 pm

We hear it again and again, big corporations like WalMart paying lobbyists a forture to run campaigns about union thuggery on behalf of their fat corporate clients in an effort to defeat Employee Free Choice (EFCA). Because they care so very much about their workers.
